    Great Camera System!

Arlo Installation Instructions were very easy to follow and cameras were paired to the Base Station in less than 10 minutes (including software updates). Currently have one camera installed in our Patio (powered via Ultra Solar Panel) and the other is in our Garage (Battery Powered). The magnetic fast charger that came with the unit is great and lives up to its fast charge expectation. It takes approximately 1.25 hours to charge one unit from 0-100%. The Arlo Solar Panel keeps the outdoor unit fully charged without issue. The picture and video quality on these units are fantastic. I was also very impressed with how bright the motion sensored spotlights on each unit. Arlo’s mobile application is easy to use and allows you to “customize” each unit’s device settings ranging from specifying “Activity Zones” to adjusting the unit’s Field of View in the video settings tab. I would like to add that I was disappointed that a monthly subscription is required to take advantage of the 4kHD Video Recording feature. However, the smart notifications (no monthly subscription required) features is a welcomed addition to this devices already impressive video recording picture quality. I’m looking forward to the Package detection feature that is currently in the Beta software phase. Overall – I would recommend this camera system. The picture/video quality are great, and allows you to leave your home knowing that you have quality products surveilling your home. Arlo has provided me with this product free of charge through a friends and family program, but the content and my opinions expressed here are honest and based on my own use of the product.

    Low functioning..

NOTE: as some reviewers, I did not get this for free to try and review on. I am truly just a customer. So I thought this seemed awesome. I guess too good to be true. Initially connects to base station well, easy setup on app. Cameras are sturdy and seem to be water resistant (although I did not get it wet). So that's where the good ends. First 4 camera set everything connected at the beginning, put them up in the locations the following day after charging. Result 1 camera would connect and repeatedly go off line and 2nd camera had only static noise. Worked with tech at Arlo and told one camera was bad and the second was too far away from the base station (40 ft). So back to Best Buy for exchange, I'll give it another try. Now this time I only put up one camera (why mount the cameras all over again before I test the actual features?) for testing and here's what I found out. 1) The zoom and track feature is not even close to advertised either on the app or the computer. 2) The light looks slightly better than the light on your cellphone. 3) The siren tested on all 4 cameras: 2 VERY soft 2 with slightly more volume (sitting on the kitchen counter not as loud as the microwave running). 4) after placing the cameras 20-45 feet from the base station, the signal is good to weak, respectively. 5) the app lags significantly about 15 seconds from detection to alert on iphone. 6) Does not detect movement until about 8 feet out from the camera (mounted 10 feet off the ground). So walking causally hit the "zone" and 20 seconds later the app alerts and the person is already walking inside the home. The second system is going back to Best Buy in the morning. So here is what I learned. Stay away from this system. It is extremely expensive for the poor system you get. I obviously did not mind the cost as I did not abandon it the first time around. I would recommend Arlo pull this product and go back to the drawing board and return with a strong true security system that is wireless.

We used this during the selling of our house and it was a life saver. It was simple to install and the pictures and sounds are great. I did look at different products like this and then Arlo provided me with this product free of charge to test. These are my opinions expressed here are honest and based on my use of the product.

I'm very happy with Arlo Ultra 2 camera system. The build quality of the cameras is solid with good materials. Setup is pretty easy by download Arlo app, connect base station to router and power it on and attach battery to cameras. Open app on mobile phone then register and sign in with Arlo account. Arlo app will be able to detect both base station and cameras. After upgrading firmware, the camera start to work in just a few minutes. Received alerts very quick on mobile apps when any motion was detected. It also has options of detecting people, animals, vehicles or all motions. Spotlight was integrated into the camera which is very useful in low light condition. I like the 2-way audio feature. You can either talk to the guest at the front door or talk to kids when they are at home alone. 1 year cloud storage is included free which can store up to 30 days of video. So I can review these videos anytime and anywhere. I really like my new Arlo Ultra 2 camera system! The picture quality is excellent. Setting these cameras up is a no brainer and the mobile application is fantastic and easy to use. The system came with a free 1 year cloud storage, and alerts arrive super fast on my phone/email. I love that I didn’t have to wire any of the cameras, and the base station easily hooks up to my existing router. This is an amazing home security system for anyone who is looking to keep an eye on their house. I would highly recommend these cameras to anybody looking for a high quality home security system. The Arlo Ultra was super easy to install, set up and connect. The app with the Arlo smart is pretty awesome as well. We had our home on the market and being able to watch people coming and going gave us peace of mind. It was also quite entertaining to listen to people's comments and how weird some people can be....our very own reality TV. Now at our new home, in a more metropolitan are, it gives us a peace of mind being able to keep tabs of packages and over all saftey of our home. One of the great things we like about the Arlo Ultra is being able to stream live and talk to anyone at your door. Another great feature is the ability to share footage with anyone via text, email, etc. While we received this product free of charge, from Arlo, the content and my opinions expressed here are honest and based on my use of the product.

An awesome camera from Arlo. The recording is crisp and audio is crystal clear. The viewing angle is wide enough to cover my entire front yard. It does detect a person, animal, package or vehicle. Thus, it makes it so convenient for me which alert I should act upon and which one to ignore. I loved the charging method as you don't have to take out the battery out of the camera case. The light is like a cherry on the cake. I do have my own light but the camera light brightens up the video while motion is detected. I love this product and looking forward what other features/products Arlo has to offer in the future.

    Easy Peasy

So I read all reviews, seems this product was released in January and then re-released this past week with updated firmware etc. Dude at BB pointed me towards the restock from this past Saturday. Easier to set up than my original Arlo. Up and running in about 15 minutes. Did notice some offline skips, but they lasted only 1 or 2 seconds. Yes there is a small delay in feedback, but its 4k so I would expect this. Yes the batteries are 50% when opening box. (Should last over a month.) Overall, easy peasy and my only question is why are others having so much trouble? Too easy. And I dont usually shop at best buy but it was $75 cheaper than Amazon. Just thought I would chime in for anyone that needs this product.

Received Product at no cost through Arlo Friends and Family Program The Arlo Ultra was easy to install. Pictures seem clear and am hoping to catch and identify the pranksters troubling us outside our house. The active zones are very accurate . Love the clarity. Love that they are wire free . Arlo Smart is amazing and its pretty good with distinguishing between person, animal, vehicle detection . I would definitely recommend this to my other friends. Definitely best in class. I have seen Ring and Nest installed at my friends places and the clarity on this one is way better . Love the color night vision as well. Notifications are faster than competitors . beautiful looking product as well !!

Peace of Mind Away From Home

This Arlo system I set up before my family's trip was great. Normally, I would always worry about something back at home if I was gone for any length of time, but this system has dispelled that in me! I was able to check my feed remotely via my phone whenever I wanted, and the image quality is magnificent. Now I don't have to put up a trail camera because as an added bonus, I get to see so many critters on the feed as well. The product also looks very aesthetically pleasing on the home and is hardly noticeable with the white trim where it is placed. Easy to install, setup was a breeze, and ultimately, an amazing product! I did receive this item free from Arlo.

    USELESS

    1. NO CLOUD RECORDING OF 4K WITHOUT PER-CAMERA ADDITIONAL (NOT THE INCLUDED 'SMART PREMIER') SUBSCRIPTIONS. 2. NO FREE CLOUD RECORDING OF PAST 7 DAYS IN EVEN 1080 LIKE PRIOR MODELS. 3. Very poor connection and lag to use app and use cameras. Many drops, freezes, and poorer picture quality than the Pro 2. Obviously not ready for release. 4. The SINGLE power cord is 3' while additional cords are 8' for $25. 5. Accessories not released at same time as cameras. So good luck sharing 4 on 1 power cord. 6. $120 dolar value advertisement for subscription when an annual purshare is $100 (since all at once). 7. The subscription will NOT stack onto any existing time you have. To gain the year if you have one already, a new account is needed. I will be returning soon.

    Worst customer service ever

In theory, this is a good product. The cameras take excellent video, the sensors mostly work well, and the battery life is excellent. However, if you’re going to buy this product and you happen to have issues like I did, prepare yourself to spend a solid two weeks on tech support — and get zero support. My unit has had multiple issues—I wasn’t given the promised 1 year subscription to their cloud service, one of my cameras is too sensitive to motion, even when tue sensor is adjusted to 7%, and my base station seems not to be recording some events. After literally 20 hours spent either on tech support or waiting for tech support (hold times have been in the 45 minute range and they do not return calls as promised), I was supposed to get an RMA number for the faulty camera. Never got it. Called again and told them I didn’t get it and I was assured I would receive it that day. That was four days ago. And despite creating a case regarding the missing subscription 3 weeks ago, there has been no resolution on that issue either. Pure frustration. Buyer beware!!!!

Arlo has provided me with this product free of charge through a friends and family program, but the content and my opinions expressed here are honest and based on my use of the product. The Arlo Ultra 4K is an excellent camera system. Its ease of use, performance and flexibility is impressive. Setup and install is a breeze. It took less than 30 minutes to setup. I downloaded the app, connected the hub to my router, synced the cameras and i was pretty much set. The longest part of the install was trying to decide where to mount the cameras. The design of the camera and mount gives you the flexibility to mount these cameras however you like. The app is easy to use and you can access all the features, settings and recordings through the app. There is a slight delay when viewing the live feed but that's to be expected when viewing 4K quality wirelessly. The wireless connection from the hub to the cameras have been solid. I haven't had a single connection issue since the initial setup. Overall I've been very pleased with the Arlo Ultra 4K. I wasn't sure at first if i needed a wireless 4K security camera system but after getting the Arlo Ultra 4K it is definitely a must. The Arlo Ultra 4K just delivers in performance, ease of use and peace of mind.

Good hardware, ok software, TERRIBLE Tech Support

After some car break-ins in our neighborhood, we decided it was finally time to get some security cameras for the house. We have Apple everything, so Arlo's recent addition of HomeKit support put them at the top of the list. Another thing that really helped is their advertised 1-year free trial subscription to some of their cloud services. Ok, let's go Arlo. The box had two cameras, but only included ONE of their special magnetic mounting brackets. They then included a more traditional fixed bracket for the other camera, which makes no sense. The traditional bracket then broke during installation, so I had to pay another $40 for two more magnetic holders, one of which we'll never use because one came in the original box. Ok, got the cameras installed, got the base and app and account all set up. We're good, right? I'm thinking, how do I sign up for the 1-year free trial they advertise and print right on the box? Well, their system should just automatically send you a code when you set it all up. Unless it didn't. Want to have them send you the code again? Tough. You have to get your cameras near the base, un-register everything, set everything up all over again, and then HOPE it send you the code the second time through. If that doesn't work, they can do a "workaround" and send you the code directly. Why not send me the code directly to begin with? Why not just add it to my account? Why do I have to set the whole system up all over again? What if we've already installed the cameras outside? Ugh. None of this makes sense. The app is ok. Their desktop browser access runs on Flash. In 2020. Are you kidding me? They get a lot right with what the cameras offer. Just pray that nothing ever goes wrong and you need tech support. Be wary of Arlo.

Overall great camera with great picture quality and tons of features. Basic setup took less than 10 minutes, including installing and configuring hardware and the app. Going through all of the other more advanced features is a different story, there are LOTS of them. When in Armed state notifications come in instantly, so you can see what has triggered the cam. Battery life is great. The connection is poor. One camera which is the closes to base is always losing connection another one is hit or miss. Big delay on notification alerts. Quality of video is not much better then the arlo pro2. Also with my old system arlo pro2 connection is much better. Does not sync with doorbell and customer service doesn't have a clue what they are talking about.

Disclosure:  Arlo has provided me with this product free of charge through a friends and family program, but the content and my opinions expressed here are honest and based on my use of the product. The product is great, and I am glad both the hardware and software have improved to be more consumer friendly. I had the old “first gen” stuff when they were still with Netgear and it left much to be desired and turned me off on Arlo products until now. What was disappointing about the older Arlo system was how I kept having to re-sync the cameras and how fast it drained CR123 batteries. I knew what I was getting into with the batteries, but the re-syncing was a pain and not very conducive to being reliable when you needed it most to give you that sense of security. Arlo should consider an incentive discount for people able to prove they were prior customers looking to upgrade. Fast forward to present day with this Ultra 2 kit, it is a huge upgrade and I’m glad a rechargeable battery is now included and the app is now much easier to use for setup and general use (using iPhone). Arlo provided me this new kit for review and it’s delivering on what I expect from a security cam. Things I really like: -App is great now because it’s less fussy -Rechargeable battery for wireless operation -Being able to charge the battery with the battery still in the camera -Option of getting a longer charging wire so you don’t have to deal with charging the batteries. -It’s not GoPro video quality, but still fits the need I would recommend this product to others

All of these poor reviews are from people who claim that they have great internet speeds (mainly download speeds) but neglect the fact that it is upload speed that is essential for these cameras (and all Wi-Fi cameras for that matter). One camera requires a minimum of around 30Mbs upload speed. Four cameras running simultaneously will tank any network that is not running at least 150Mbs upload speed. Please consult with an associate about the status of your home network before spending $1000 on new cameras for them to ultimately not work.

I am receiving this product at no charge through Arlo friends and family program. After reading all the reviews about this system and understanding its 4k. I had to see for myself I'm using them on the inside of my home and i must say the picture quality is outstanding. I've used different cameras before and this is by far the better one. I will be ordering more to completely cover the inside of my house when I'm not home.
