Pricey & imperfect
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Im not gonna describe this Arlo ultra or talk about it's claimed features, you can read about it yourself. I've read the issues on this Ultra but to be fair, some issues may have been updated. My own problems are: 1.) 15-20 sec delay in motion notification! This is due to Arlo Smart claimed AI That's processed by Arlo's servers and not the camera itself being Smart! 2.) Only one App sound notification that's easily missed, Ring has various App sound notifications selection! 3.) 4k streaming especially on a phone is questionable! Even in same wifi network! You won't be able to distinguish 1080p or 4k on a phone screen! 4.) Pricey in itself and inadequate accessories! At this time, no accessories to buy! And pay extra more for them! 5.) Battery runs 5-7 days only even on low to medium traffic motions 6.) App needs to be simpler like defaulting to live view when opening! Automatic Landscape view once live view is tapped! 7.) Night vision is no better and I just set it in still grainy color anyway! 8.) Good but not Great

Easy to Install and Great Image Quality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Through the Arlo Friends and Family program, I have obtained this Arlo Ultra 2 Kit camera free of charge but please note that this review are purely my honest and unbiased opinion using and testing this product. At first, I plan to use this camera for my parents/house monitoring and adding additional security visibility to my house. I am thrilled as I have zero to beginner experience using high tech gadgets but the simplicity and easy to install camera makes me like a pro. Its easy to install just download the app and Viola! everything is self explanatory. Aside from that I was amazed how clear and crisp the image quality captured by this camera. (see Attached Pic) and you can also zoom in and out so you have a clear image when monitoring. I feel more secure using this Arlo Ultra 2-Kit Camera! Get yours now!!!!

GREAT home security cameras
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought these the day they came out, so I’ve had over a week with them now. There were issues that first day with them, but they corrected all issues the very next day with a firmware update. Since then I have had absolutely no issues, and these cameras have been nothing short of amazing. If you have had any of the previous Arlo cameras, you will know that setup on these is a breeze. The associated app is very quick in allowing you to view your cameras in real time, and the image quality of the stream is crystal clear. The detection system works flawlessly as well, letting you know if the sensor detected a person, vehicle or animal. The integrated spotlight is a great addition to these cameras as well, allowing you to clearly see images at night in increased clarity. The people complaining about connectivity issues simply do not have adequate bandwidth, or have the main hub placed in an obscure location. Reading the instructions and recommendations would solve those issues. I would highly recommend these cameras to anybody looking for a high quality home security system

Great upgrade from original Arlo series
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. With the included batteries, wide FOV, interior/exterior mounting compatibility, flood light, and camera quality - the Arlo Ultra definitely outshines the original Arlo cameras (and Pro 1st gen) that I've had.If there is any disappointing factor with the camera setup, it's the range of the camera's wireless signal - it doesn't go very far, and it doesn't seem to fallback to a 2.4GHz signal when out of range. It would be nice if Arlo's base station and cameras could utilize existing Wi-Fi networks to transmit data, to allow for range extenders that are NOT dedicated for just Arlo use.

Arlo Ultra Security Camera (4)
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I finally purchased the Arlo Ultra 4K four camera security system. I read the directions and tried to install the system and had to end up calling tech support because the software did not work. Support is very friendly and extremely helpful, if it had not been for Support, I would have returned the system immediately. It took right at three hours to set up because Support had to go through the updated software program with a two time install. Needless to say this was very frustrating but the tech was really polite so I put up with it. The overall picture is good with the exception that when the sun comes up even though the camera is in the shade it is hard to see images against my white board fence and carport walls, plus white storage shed until the sun has been up for about two hours because of the bright glare. One camera kept on going off on its own even though I had it disabled and it ran the battery down. I called tech support and told them I kept on hearing the camera making clicking noises like it was trying to turn on and engage even though the software showed the camera to be turned off. Support had me remove the camera from the housing and reprogram it to the base station to get it to function properly. I have two cameras mounted outside on my door frames with the magnetic mount holding the cameras in place. The mounts work good, the cameras stay in place and so far the batteries have not had to be recharged, they are at approximately 50% after a full charge upon initially installing them. The other malfunctioning camera drained the battery. I still hear that camera making a clicking noise even though it is turned off, tech support suggested to reboot the other cameras as well and give the problem camera a couple of weeks before seeing about returning it to Best Buy or them for replacement. It has been four weeks so I doubt Best Buy would replace the faulty camera, most probably I will have to deal with Arlo directly. I don’t feel the software system is up to date and ready for retail sales yet. I don’t like the fact that the cameras won’t run on their own unless you go to the app and activate them to see a current view of the cameras. The cameras do activate when an animal or bug goes in front of them but I would like a system that runs 24/7 with a live feed on it’s own just like a regular security system in a store is. I ask about the camera being to far from the base station outside under my carport, the signal is not strong enough to place the camera at the very back of the carport. I ask about a signal booster, a more powerful router, etc., anything I could purchase to make the camera work and tech support said nothing would make the camera work, no booster, no more powerful router, etc., they said the camera has to be close to the base station in order to have the strongest signal. Also, I don’t like the fact when you activate the software to see what the camera is picking up, it takes several seconds for the signal to go to the base station, then relay the signal to the camera, then from the camera back to the base station, then to the software, it takes too long, I would like a faster picture feed. The cameras do pick up and transmit noise well, as I can hear the birds and insects, etc. I have not been able to get the emergency 911 call software to install and the tech support could not either. This system is just not ready for retail sales and I would not recommend anyone spending $1100.00 like I did. Arlo needs to make major improvements to the Arlo Ultra 4K Security Camera System. I am deeply disappointed with this product. As far as Best Buy, the clerk knew his product and was extremely helpful on selling me the item, but once you own it, you are on your own and if you don’t buy a Geek Squad Install you can forget getting any help. Don’t waste your money on this system. Find something else, I have heard others say they love the cheaper older version of Arlo.

Good wire-free cameras
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the picture and sound quality of these cameras. The wide angle allows me to see much more of the area than I could with previous camera. I'm still becoming familiar with all the features but so far it's great. The only downfall is that you have to charge the camera ALL THE TIME. I have 4 cameras and I'm charging 1-2 a day. The more they're in use, the more they'll need to be charged. But charging is very easy also.

Almost Right
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have tried several security systems including Piper, Ring, etc. and found all of them lacking. I want a camera that creates usable video and has clear 2 channel sound. Most failed miserably on both. The Arlo Ultra delivers on both, but it does have some annoying shortfalls,, the most egregious of which is that my wife and I cannot log into the system at the same time. If i am logged in, and my wife then logs in, i get kicked out. I can "friend" her so she has her own log in, but that account has some SERIOUS deficiencies in of features. Why we are not both allowed in on the same account is beyond me. But the beautiful 4k locally stored video (I have a 32 GB SD set to overwrite when it is full) and the crystal clear 2 way audio (so i can tell the delivery guy where to put the package) more than makes up for these shortcomings. The only other real complaint i have is battery life. If the camera is kept in the dark and never has to record or "go active" it might, and i say might, make 6 months, but in everyday use, a fully charged battery looks like it will MAYBE go for a month. If you don't have an acceptable way to add external, full time power (which I have) then this might be a show stopper. But even with the aforementioned shortfalls, i am VERY pleased with the purchase and it is ALMOST everything i wanted in the 4 camera system...highly recommended

I'm liking it
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really love the features of this device. The only reason I take a star away is due to the battery when the device is busy. I'm going to add the solar panel for the one busy camera. The other camera is not as busy and I don't need to charge as much. I like the camera views, audio, spot light and the resolution. I'm curious how this will work after the first year. Otherwise, very happy.

Great for Outdoor Home Security
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall, this kit is a good value if you purchase it on-sale. Cameras are high quality, 4K resolution. Upon purchase, I did eventually determine one of the cameras that came with the kit was not sensing motion as it should. Took a while working with Arlo to get them to send a replacement camera and I had to pay for shipping. Beyond that snag, this has been a quality system so far. Additionally, these cameras work with Apple HomeKit which was an unadvertised pleasant surprise. Comes with 1 year of service included at 2K video recording quality. Can be upgraded to 4K video quality. There is a lot of customization ability through the Arlo app for camera setup. For example, you can trigger additional cameras to begin recording if motion or sound is detected on a single camera. This could come in handy if, for example, you wanted to also start recording on the "front door" camera if motion is detected on the "driveway" camera and automatically triggered to begin recording on that camera. So far, seems good on battery life. Cameras communicate with the included "hub" so your home Wi-Fi doesn't get overwhelmed. Accessing the recorded video events can sometimes take time to load.

Great Camera For Beginners!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hello, Arlo has provided me with this product through a friends and family program, but the content and my opinions expressed are honest and based on my use of the product. Ordering the product through Best Buy online with local pickup made getting the product a snap! Once we got the cameras and base station home and installed the app the setup was fast and easy. The app downloaded and installed quickly and in minutes we had the system up and running. It only took a few minutes to get the cameras positioned correctly. We loved the wireless setup and the flexibility the magnetic mounts provide. We are very pleased with the picture quality and the wide field of view. Still working through some adjustments to get the spotlight setup just right. Our overall impression is that the ease of setup and use, coupled with the clarity of views will make this a great asset to providing security and piece of mind while we are home or away. Cheers!

Great video quality
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased two sets of four Ultra cameras with hubs. The install was pretty easy. The video quality for both day and night is amazing. Better than many hardwired cameras I’ve looked at. The smart notifications took a little bit of trial and error to figure it out. At first i was receiving 100+ notifications in a couple hours. It was extremely annoying. After doing some google searches on my issues i found that it does work best when it’s hard wired, fully charged and the cameras are not on auto zoom If using an iPhone the app doesn’t seem to recognize activity zones. I set them up on my computer (didn’t work with the web browser from my phone either) and found they worked better. Once i got the constant notifications to stop i was much happier. The audio door bells are pretty neat. They run off of a specified camera and you can use a preprogrammed voice if you don’t want to talk through them. And they have a voicemail system. All in all very happy with my purchase.

Great video but poor battery life
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased for use outside and really like the alert detection. Tells you if it's a person, animal, etc. However placing outside outside and getting all those alerts also meant battery drain. In less than two weeks, I had to recharge the battery twice. This should come with the solar panel and not have to be purchased separately. Taking the camera down also meant taking out the ladder because the camera was placed up high out of reach to prevent theft. The video quality was great and I also like the wide view it provides. I ended up returning after two weeks because the battery drain was a big pain but would consider buying it again if I can find on sale with the solar panel. A side note - I did try other settings to reduce the alerts but the battery was still not giving me more than a week from full charge to empty. It could have been defective - I don't know for sure since I returned.

Great camera to have at home
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Arlo camera was relatively easy to install, I have stippled walls and it was a bit challenging to install the base but I managed to install it. I really liked the magnetic wall mount as it allowed me to point the camera to any position, actually I would love to have 2 of these magnetic wall mounts included in the package instead of one. The video quality is amazing, you can zoom in and see every single detail. Movement recognition works pretty well but the notifications can become annoying when it keep detecting people living in the house. Face recognition to report only “unknown people” would make this a killer feature. Another feature that amazed me was the option to set up the area where movement recognition is applied. It allowed me to avoid notifications from people walking nearby but not accessing to my house porch. In general, love the features and definitely my new camera will avoid my packages from being stolen which happened couple of times. Disclosure: Arlo has provided me with this product free of charge through a friends and family program, but the content and opinion expressed here are honest and based on my use of the product.

Great potential
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like many features of the new ultra cameras with the included one year subscription. I like the extra points to define an activity zone. I like the light and alarm on the camera. I am mounting mine very high, so I have been waiting over a month for the 25' outdoor power cable. It was very poor planning to release the 2 camera system with only one 3' power cable, when the longer cables were not yet available. I am using both my arlo pro 2 system with its base station and the ultra base station for the one ultra camera I am using. The pro base station seems to have a longer range. When I get the outdoor power cord, I will use the 2nd ultra camera with the ultra base station. If everything still works then I will be happy. I was going to mount a camera near the doorbell to use as a video intercom, but the lag time of the system is too long for this to be practical.

Decent DIY Wireless Security Camera System
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A decent DIY Wireless Security Camera System comparatively to other smart home DIY security camera systems on the market. Did a lot of research and viewed a number of reviews from others for technical and functional pros & cons. This system meets my requirements, however there are still room for improvements. I wanted to share my experience in comparison to a professional higher cost home security system. My requirements: Needed to monitor my in-city loft from a number of outside persons/staff to care for my place while away ie. housekeeper, concierge, doorman, service persons and delivery. I did not require a 3rd party interior monitoring security company watching and recording my "city" home. I have for my main family "upstate" home: 16x 4MP cameras and 4TB NVR, equipment cost at $8k and installation etc. at $4k and home security system at $12k, home in-wall wiring Cat 6, HDMI etc. at $10k (complete house re-wiring). Monthly paid 3rd party security company monitoring 24/7. Overall costly system. Pros: 1. Option to save footage onto subscription service cloud or SmartHub with mini SD card which is not included, but bought a 1Tb on Black Friday. BTW, I wanted an option and not forced to pay for a subscription like all other DIY smart home security system; 2. Wireless connectivity option instead of professionally in wall wiring or dangling wires for power and data. Re-chargeable lithium ion batteries last for awhile and can be charged on the spot/camera locations without removal with magnetic charging cable; 3. Option to set to record only when the motion sensor picks up a person in room. I didn't need the 24/7 recording, which saves battery usage and data storage; 4. Easy out of box setup and instructions, no issues to update app, install security camera system and testing. I would suggest downloading the user and installation manual to familiarize yourself prior to opening and setting up; 5. Compatible with Google, I understand that previous systems were not?; 6. Compatible with android and apple based smart phones; 7. Lifestyle dependent DIY home/business security camera system flexibility without having a 3rd party monitoring security company; 8. Affordable overall basic security system; Cons: 1. 4K is only available for subscription, 1080p is what you are really getting out of the package. Details from zooming is awful and cannot read larger words ie license plates. My HIK 4MP cameras allows me this clarity; 2. Enhanced features are only available through subscription and would only consider if this was my main un-monitored 3rd party home security system. 3. Not real time and slow lagging wireless, even with dedicated wifi mesh system connected. About a 5 seconds delay on-site not sure about off site (out of state or country). 4. Single 3' long magnetic charging cable, too short and only one given for a set of 4 cameras bought. 5. Choice of two magnetic and two screw on wall mounts. I prefer the magnetic wall mounts as my application was for interior only. An option should have been provided as additional accessories purchase is expensive. 6. Value for the money? You decide. Based on almost a month of usage. Will update later if anything changes. Thanks.

Good Quality
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Image and sound Quality is great. Connection is good, in my case image is delayed by 1-2 seconds which is not bad. One of the main characteristics I selected Arlo was because the compatibility with Apple Home Kit. I was not able to connect it until I had to update the firmware on the station and reconnect everything twice. The only disappointing thing was about battery life for cameras in areas with constant daily activity (living room- kitchen), it last an average of 7-10 days. Any other camera in areas with low activity does not seem to have the issue, they've been working for more than 3 weeks and not charging them again (as of now they're in the 60-70% battery life remaining).

||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.has problems with connection issues and misses motions. Good but the app need improvement
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This camera has the best video quality I have seen from any battery operated camera. Most of the issues I had was with app sometime it's slow for app to show the cloud video clips. Also there is about a five to 8 secs delay to view the live feed. If you don't close the app when you open it again sometimes it's show cameras offline the fix was close the app complete and reopen and that seems to fix the issue and this only happened a few times. The battery life seems to be OK but my cameras are in a high traffic area. Overall I like the cameras and I am hoping with firmware updates these issues would be fixed.

Weak WIFI and Batteries
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Setup for these cameras is relatively simple and the video is great. The entire downside to this system is the lack of WIFI range and battery life. Arlo touts a long battery life but that has not been my experience. The weak battery life may be related to the higher resolution video and lack of wifi range. Not sure. Either way, Arlo needs to keep working on improving this product.

So far so good
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought an Arlo package a few days ago and set it up myself. Smart-hub, 2 Ultra cameras with solar chargers, and two video doorbells. -Pretty easy setup. -Nice looking equipment. -Good quality picture from all cameras. -Works well with my Android phone and my wife's iPhone. -Works with the Google Home app, so I can cast to my smart TV. - One small gripe-- Package comes with one magnetic mount and one screw-in mount for two cameras-- they should include two of each. Will update review after a little time with the system.
