5 camera system. LIKES: Good range, good video quality, easy install. DON’T LIKES: A bit difficult to set up scheduling different cameras to be “armed” at different times, but I figured it out. No matter what I do (in settings, camera positioning or plugged in) the recorded video starts when subject of motion detection is already halfway through the video. Missing first half of whatever happens. My Ring Doorbell gets it ALL (and more). I don’t understand why Arlo can’t perform as well as Ring in capturing the entire event.

This system has so much potential, but it’s truly not stable enough to be sold and depended upon for security. My cameras constantly goes off line and does not detect motion. I do not have the patience to constantly have to troubleshoot, uninstalling and reinstalling. It’s quite frustrating! I foolishly upgraded from a pro 2 thinking maybe A higher end camera would be better. Yes, the video quality is better, but the system is so unstable I cannot depend on it to capture videos. ... I upgraded my internet, router etc to make sure the issue was not on my end. I

Some good, lots of meh and too much bad

The good - Great image quality, wireless, and battery-powered. The Meh - No lens adjustment. It's great for close images but pretty worthless for distant details. It lacks the ability to change the FOV to a zoomed-in area on a fixed basis. The bad - Activity zones simply don't work. Too much time has been spent with tech support. You can't change the notification tones on an iPhone. That means the constant notifications due to the false activity triggers keep chirping your phone like other messages. All.Night.Long. You can't live stream more than two cameras at a time to a browser. It won't connect correctly to Samsung's Smartthings app and reports no devices. The WiFi coverage of the base station is terrible. It provides its own WiFi network so no matter how good of a meshed network you have, you are limited to the base station's range. The only way to cover a larger house is to purchase a second base station. Activity notification to the iPhone is immediate. However, there is a 3-5 minute delay in the time it takes to actually see the clip. This makes a real-time intervention to a security issue impossible, The app and cloud based solution is a good start, however if you are looking for a good premise security system that provides detailed images and coverage, look at a wired IP camera system with a premise NVR. This isn't it. Yet.

The cameras work ok with good detail. They can take a long time to load / sync before being able to view them. This system uses a central hub so it can’t use your range extenders or home mesh system. All cameras must be placed in range (about 100 feet) without much obstructions. Most of the cool features like geofencing and area zones require that you continue to subscribe after the free year runs out. Setting up the geofencing feature isn’t easy and so far it is not very reliable. The system keeps logging me out when my wife logs in on her phone. Arming can’t be paused for a set time period. You can disarm it but you must remember to rearm it. The siren built into the camera is too wimpy for anyone to really notice it. The tracking feature only supports 1080P, not 4K. Arlo has separated from Netgear and you must change your software. Several features are now reduced and less stable with the new program. I wanted a security system in place before I left for Europe. I picked this one because I could install it quickly. Now I can’t return this overly expensive and glitchy system because the return period has run out.

The Arlo Ultra 4 camera bundle is a great deal! Arlo includes a one year subscription of their smart plan which will identify a person, animal, vehicle, and even package detection (if you install one near your front door) using AI. Setup was very simple right out of the box, only thing you might have to do is charge the cameras before installing them in their locations you choose. Battery life depending on how much activity is in the area will vary, Arlo claims up to 6 months of battery life but the most I've gotten is a month for three cameras that are in high activity zones. One camera that I have setup in an area that doesn't have high activity is still almost fully charged since I installed it and it has been over a month since I purchased this. These cameras also support CVR (continuous video recording) but require to be connected to a power source at all times and an additional subscription from Arlo per camera. They also have a spotlight that will turn on at night when motion is detected to give you color night vision. Overall I am very satisfied with these cameras as their video quality is crystal clear as it is in 4k resolution. I used to have the Arlo wire free cameras which recorded in 1080p and you will definitely notice a difference if you are looking to upgrade.

    Hit or Miss service.

The experience with this system has been hit or miss. I've been happy at times and other times I have been confused, bewildered, and disappointed. Not sure if it has been new updates or software issues, but these cameras have miss a few key moments of motion that I believe it should have captured. The devices record well when they do work with nice video quality. Recently it doesn't record motion (cars, animals, strong audio, etc.) like when I first got the devices. Any car that passed my home it would record the motion even if I did not have the notification setting on. Now it does not and I am not sure if that is because of an update of some type of random defect within my specific system. Overall this experience has been hit or miss. Especially with how. much these devices cost and the fact they try and charge you monthly for service after the free service period after purchase of new devices.

First off the reason I bought these was because it says it has really good clear video and they are wireless. The batteries do last a long time and I'm always checking the live videos. What I don't like about the cameras the video is not as clear as they said it is. It's hard to focus on someone's face because video is blurry. When my notification goes off to let me know that the motion detectors being going off, it takes some time to load the video. Sometimes it won't load and I have to close the app and load it up again. And it's not my internet connection. The mic sometimes won't load. The siren is not loud at all. No one can barely hear it. When speaking out of the cameras, you can barely hear my voice. Needs a loud speaker.

The camera resolution is great, had an issue with one of the cameras where it disconnected after several days of use. currently working with Arlo on resolution. Work around, pop out battery and re-insert. the other camera is working as advertised. So this might an exception. Thereis one odd thing with the contents, for 2 cameras, there is one magnetic mount???? What's up with that??? Also, the current version I have, if you use a SD card, you have take it out of the hub to view the pictures. Hopefully this was an oversight and a firmware update is on the way. The alarm that was loud before, might scare a mouse this time around, as its siren like is on the camera not hub. The power wall adapter, mount, and skins from pro/2 will not carry over. The sync button which use to be on the outside, is now on the inside by the power source. Also, you will have to re-register all your cameras to the Ultra hub. Camera detects the difference between an animal and person correctly. The light source is bright enough to add color to the video taken, instead of the b\w videos from the previous. On the rules, there is a new recording option, till motion goes away. You can record if sound is heard. Overall, there are some negatives, but the positives out weigh here and when working correctly, its great.. I own an Arlo (orig), Pro, and the Ultra.

    Arlo 4k Ultra

On way to return! I spoke to Arlo again today, 5th time, since buying the 4k Ultra 4 cam set two weeks ago. I have had nothing but major issues, like so many, so before I returned to Best Buy I contacted to see about resolution, probably out of insanity! 1503 Hours, NO FIX! If you ever needed to have an answer as to what is going on, the bug fixes, or how Arlo is going to make all this right for those of us who have OBVIOUSLY beta tested! Well, I am returning the entire Arlo 4k Ultra! I was just told by level 3 support, that there's nothing wrong with the new Arlo 4k cams, and further that there's been no major reports of issues, lol!!! I was told they would submit the 4th ticket ONLY, and try to process a warranty return. Paid the extra $19 yearly for 4K live viewing and downloading to 1 cam. It was activated on the wrong cam and was incredibly groening on all close ups in all conditions. 2 of my 4 cams are permanently fisheyed, no adjustments by tech or myself fixed! The same two very grainy also. 1 of the 4 cams has not ever worked from day one, tech opened a ticket to return under warranty, but lost my ticket and had no notes of this today! The 1 cam that worked ok, was again grainy, but also stopped notifications all together day 3. Tech was unable to fix too! 2 cams intermittently notified me but finally started working after the 20th bug fix, however now as of two days ago started failing, both had delayed notifications after 5-8 mins of movement being detected! Both still grainy, absolutely NONE of them ever worked in 4k! It's a mess. Do not buy the Ultra! Returning to Best buy after 13 days and back to Pro2, a system that actually worked well. I was so confident with Pro 2 that I gave it 13 days and spent nearly four hours with tech support and another 8 hours messing with this system. Perhaps I should submit a bill, oh that's right they're offering 0 compensation for any of the above issues!

    Best Battery Camera system

The Arlo Ultra is the only battery system that worked as desired. All other battery systems could not perform a decent trigger zone without being plugged into power or extremly slow to trigger and missed the subject. The Ultra can set up multiple trigger zones, and configure size of trigger: car, human, animal. The Ultra includes a year of cloud storage & service, which works great with the trigger clips and zoning. Night is very clean, and the 4K video or 2K is set lower... both zoom in very nicely. Use it with Android, iPhone and iPad with no issues. If you want cordless, fast trigger 4K video, central storage, fast cell phone notices, and true functional trigger zones... the Ultra is the only option. Negative: if you setup a easy alert camera... ft door. If it's a busy door, battery will drain fast, about a month. Recomend attaching the solar panel to prevent battery swaps. Poor cell service, quick notices, but opening video can be slow if cell service poor.

We liked the convenience and quality of the camera. Now we started having issues and it has not even been a year. Two of our cameras would not hold the charge. Then dealing with their customer service which puts you thru all these loopholes just to support a warranty that you paid for on a very expensive camera set.

The quality on the cameras has been great, although you have moments where quality may dip due to bandwidth. It seemed that it wouldn't record 4k and said they needed SD cards to do so, but then after a couple of weeks they say they're recording in 4k. The app is easy to use. I just wish it walked you more step-by-step through camera setup, because I found myself bouncing back and forth between multiple menus to find the right order of placement>activity zones>placement testing>motion testing. I'm sure all of the above can be found in forums, but when you're up and down ladders and between camera locations, you already have the app on the phone so it would be best to have the walk-through with you. But overall, I'm very happy with it, between quality, ease of viewing and recording, and different options to meet different monitoring needs.

positive: Installation was very easy. Application is easy to use. Custom alerts are nice. Range seems pretty good. Installation done in a 3000 sqft home with base and cameras on opposite sides. Small foot print. They cameras don’t stick out like a sore thumb. Negative: The package only comes with two of each mount styles so you may need to purchase more depending on your installation. When in 4K, the video is clear but keep in mind the lenses are wide angle so it not but not what you would expect from 4K video. You have the option to zoom but the image gets grainy for objects >20-30 yards. Unless you are going to charge the cameras outside, you need to bring in the full camera to charge or purchase a battery charger. You can’t use custom motion zones unless you have the cameras plugged in (not in battery mode).

Range is very short. I have to put most cameras less than 25 feet away from the base station. I know that for the Pro and Pro 2, it says max range is 300 feet. I’m not even getting anywhere near that....but the actual cameras work great. I just need farther range and like the last poster I hope it comes with a firmware update soon

The picture quality is great. The cameras being wireless is extremely convenient. The only real downside is the slow speeds connecting to the cameras in the app, even for cameras right near your wifi router & the Arlo hub. I also got the doorbell which integrates nicely.

Essentially a useless system. The lag is so extreme that the two way talk function is unusable. I’ve had to wait longer than 30 seconds to activate live view. Not to mention the speaker is so quiet, the alarm function and speaking to anyone on cam is useless. Often times the warm up time is so long that when the camera detects motion, the clip that saves only has the persons foot visible as they walk out of frame or just doesn’t catch anything. I had a mailman walk within 6’ of the camera both ways to my neighbors door, waited for the alert and it never came, the camera didn’t even activate. I had Someone damage my fence and break into my vehicle within 10’ of the camera, nothing caught on camera. The video quality does not match any other 4K content I’ve seen, not even close. The battery life is terrible. The app is slow to update, so even if you catch someone on your property, by the time you have access to the video and attempt to initialize the microphone, the person is long gone. To activate continuous video recording costs $9.99/cam/month, so $480 per year for an already $1000 system. I have spent countless hours adjusting the cameras, relocating the mounts, moving the hub, adjusting the settings, installing new 2400 lumen spot lights to improve night usage and still have found these cameras unusable. They currently sit deactivated on my desk. This is by far the worst tech purchase I have ever made. If you need a camera system, spend the time to put in a hardwired one or go with ring.

Maybe it was the walls in my house, but the camera was about 15 feet from the base station and it wasn't getting a good signal. I have a 4k monitor, and what I saw appeared to be closer to a true 1080 or 760. Still, this is the clearest picture you can get and the color night vision is pretty neat.

The cameras are amazing with the paid 4K monthly subscription otherwise you are limited in resolution. I have no problem paying the subscription for how great the picture is and the features that come with the cameras. I have the 4 cameras and a doorbell and love them all. The 3-6 month battery life is kind of a lie since that basically only happens if you never live stream and the cameras motion sensors are never triggered to record. I get about 1-2 month out of a charge depending on the traffic the camera gets, which is fine with me since they charge fully in about 2 hours each. I would recommend buying a second charging cable/cube or the charging station so that you can quickly charge all 4 cameras at once instead of only when one is getting close to dying.

I purchased the arlo ultra 2 camera. Unfortunately one of the cameras did not work and I returned it to Best Buy. Best Buy accepted the return with a full refund or exchange before the 14 days. I asked to exchange it for another one. When I received the new one by mail again I had trouble. This time the cameras would not sync to the home base. Second one returned and exchanged. When I received my 3rd one again one of the cameras did not work. This time I contacted arlo and they were able to exchange the camera for another one because of the year guarantee. When I received that camera. It worked great. I continued with the product because the camera has great picture. of course it does not take video continuously but it alerts you every time there is a movement. The only problem is that if the weather gets to 103 or above it will over heat and will not work until it cools down.
