This was the first Arlo camera I grabbed, when I moved the house had some floodlights but these are a little weather worn and the sensors were a bit finicky so I have been looking to upgrade. The installation is very straight forward, download the app, connect to Wi-Fi (if no hub) scan the barcode on your phones screen with the floodlight camera and then mount. The app walks you through the process really well, while on the mounting step, it will measure the signal to your connection point (Wi-Fi or Hub) so you can place it in the best possible position. The floodlight mounts pretty straight, with a little bit of tilt from the base, but keep this in mind when you are thinking of a location since you can't do a hard angle, the camera does have a large field of view so it's not much of an issue, just need to think of the footprint of how much it may protrude off of the mounting surface. **At this point I only had a video doorbell from another company so most of my comparisons will be to the video on that, not so much the functionality since they are different.** One thing I have to note is the availability of live video, the floodlight is in an area with strong signal, but watching the live video is a little slow to initially connect. A lot of times I will go in and check the detected movement on the saved feed, which is very quick to check. I have not really played with the alarm, I have been tempted to turn it on since I have a stray cat that wanders across my yard in the middle of the night. The light does get triggered occasionally from passing cars, but not enough to be an issue, it seems to happen more when transitioning from day to night, overnight it doesn't trigger too often to movement outside of the set zone. Video quality is really good, camera brightness can easily be adjusted depending on how much light hits the camera based on placement. You can also adjust the brightness on the floodlight when it gets triggered and manually turn it on and off when you like. Now that I have this floodlight in place, have switched from my doorbell being active so much and now use the floodlight as my primary camera for detection on packages and such. I have had the camera up for over a week and it has detected a good number of movement and is still at 89%, the battery on this lasts for quite a while. I need to do some looking up myself, but I don't know if this camera accepts a solar panel? I would guess not, since the connector is hidden when mounted, I am however looking to get a second battery so I can have it charged and simply swap it when the battery gets low or dies so that I do not have to bring the camera inside to charge . Overall I am very happy with the camera, I wouldn't mind looking at getting an additional camera to place elsewhere, but I may pursue a bundle with a hub. I don't know if this will resolve some of the delay in commutation with the live feed, but I have never had bad audio, video or alerts from the camera when the device transitions from day to night. I would suggest others look at this product when considering a floodlight camera.

Buyer Beware. This camera/floodlight combo works great. As advertised on the box, purchase of this camera comes with a free trial of the Arlo Smart service. What the box does not tell you is that the camera or floodlight WILL NOT WORK without the Arlo Smart service. You MUST purchase at least a $2.99/month subscription just to keep using the motion triggered floodlight or camera. Be warned - the free trial period conveniently expires after the product return period.

Nice Addition to the Arlo Line

I have an existing system with a mix of Pro 3 and Pro 2 cameras, along with some of the older Arlo hub controlled LED Security Lights. I wanted a floodlight for the driveway and the Arlo FloodCam looked like just the ticket, battery powered and no wiring. It doesn't require the Arlo hub, so it can connect directly to my mesh wifi for a stronger signal. The camera was a bonus. Setup was easy, although installation was a bit of a pain. This unit is significantly heavier than the Arlo cams & security lights and significantly larger. Be sure to secure it to a stud, or use wall anchors. The high capacity battery is about three times as long as the Pro 3 battery and makes up a large part of the weight. Charging the battery can use the magnetic charging cable (not supplied, by the way) or the camera/floodlight assembly snaps out like the Pro 3/Ultra cameras and there is a micro-usb charging port in the assembly, or the battery can be removed and charged in the Pro 3/Ultra battery charger. Installed, it can be powered by an optional wall wart power cable or a solar charger. Configuration was easy. Download the (Android for me, although there is an iPhone) app, connect the FloodCam to your base station or home WiFi, and you're pretty much up and running. Although I have an Arlo camera plan, it created a separate plan with three months free. I'm assuming I can move it to my existing plan when the freebie expires. Note that this camera has all the plan limitations of the Pro 3, so you really should plan on a monthly charge if you want to save any recordings. The light is really bright, fills the entire driveway. The floodlight and camera can be separately enabled and disabled, so you don't have to record or be notified every time the floodlight goes on, which is really convenient. I won't spend a lot of time on the camera, it's essentially a Pro 3 and the recorded video quality is excellent, down to being able to read the license plates on cars passing by on the street. The motion detect sensitivity is adjustable and video can be triggered by both/either motion or sound. The motion zones lets you control areas in the picture frame that will send you a notification. Audio is bidirectional if you're going to use as a doorcam and it does work full duplex (talk and listen at the same time). I did try it and it certainly seems more natural. Not having to use the Arlo hub is a plus. It would have been really nice if Arlo had included the magnetic charging cable rather than having to take the unit down to charge, and the unit could have been designed to be a little less unwieldy. Overall, the Arlo FloodCam provides a nice and useful integration of function and is a welcome addition to the Arlo family.

Best buy will lie to you to get you to make a purchase. With them knowing they dont plan on hororing it within a reasonable amount of time. Then theyll call you the day before delivery and say they dont have your merchandise. Then on top of that, theyll say you have to call the next day to make sure the refund works. I gotta search for my refund, but yet you got the money right away when i paid. Absolutely ridiculous

When it works, its great. But I spend half my time restarting or removing and reinstalling it to the app because it stops working every few days. I have more than enough signal and bandwidth to run it, the other two cameras and doorbell work just fine, no issues. I can't stand this thing, but I like the other cameras and don't want to mix and match systems, so I'm stuck with it.

The Arlo Pro 3 floodlight camera has been a great addition to our Arlo security network around the house. Our existing setup includes four Arlo Pro 2 cameras and three Arlo motion lights along with an Arlo base unit and Arlo light bridge. We didn’t have anything over the garage yet, our old floodlight was actually broken when we moved in about a year ago and we hadn’t gotten around to replacing it until now. Mounting the floodlight camera was really easy, if you already use Arlo you will find yourself on familiar ground, if you are new to Arlo, you will want to download the Arlo app and begin your set up there. The camera does not come with much of a setup manual other than directing you to the app and some set up videos online. The Arlo app setup steps are very thorough, easy to follow and include videos and helpful notes. The camera is battery operated, and can be attached to a solar panel. I plan to purchase a solar panel for mine so that I don’t have to change the battery, that being said, I’ve only had to charge the battery once over the past three weeks. I do have the light set fairly bright with the motion sensitivity set fairly low. The battery is larger than the batteries on my other Arlo cameras and Arlo lights but has the same mounting size. The spotlight is incredibly bright, when set to the maximum setting. I won’t keep it this bright at all times, but I love being able to turn it up if I need some extra light in the driveway. The camera video quality is clear, sharp and the wider field of view looks great! You can zoom in really close on the phone from the Arlo app to get a closer view when needed. The two way audio is a wonderful feature and can be useful to listen to what’s going on outside to to say hello to a friend! Another great feature, which I hope to never use, is the built in siren. The siren can be set up to trigger remotely, via the app, or automatically from a preassigned event that you can create in the Arlo app. It really is awesome, what you can do with the events and triggers in the Arlo app. For example, you can tell Arlo to turn on all lights when one light detects motion. Or, turn on all lights and start recording on all cameras when one camera detects motion. The possibilities, especially when paired with other smart apps and devices, are endless. Overall I’m so happy to have added this camera to my Arlo home security network. Another side of my house is now, finally, armed with Arlo!

      Hello Parisi2021,
Thank you for sharing your Arlo Pro 3 feedback. The Arlo Pro 3 camera battery last approximately 3–6 months with average use. Please note, average use assumes that you are using Optimized or Best Battery Life video settings and that your cameras record for approximately five minutes per day. The following environmental factors also reduce battery life:
      Temperatures below 32°F (0°C)
Low-light environments that require infrared sensors to work harder
Weak connection to the base station caused by distance, WiFi interference, or solid obstructions between camera and base station
Additionally, check out these tips on how you can extend your Arlo Pro 3 camera's battery life: http://bit.ly/2p4WquW.
