Nice addition to their expandable camera system
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have been using Arlo security cameras for quite some time. Our experience has been positive and we’ve been very happy with the video quality these cameras offer. One of the additional features Arlo added with its current Arlo system/base is the ability to use advanced AI to identify objects such as animals, people, packages and vehicles. System notifications will note this identification accordingly. This Arlo floodlight camera is a welcome addition to complement their other products. As with other cameras in the Arlo line there is no wiring required. Install the mounting bracket, slide the charged battery into the back of the floodlight camera unit and click it into place on the wall mount. The floodlight camera can be adjusted to encompass the exact area that one wants to cover with the camera’s 160 degree diagonal view. Since we already had the Arlo app, we simply had to add this as a new device, enter a custom name for it and then customize the camera settings to our needs. The app has utilities to see video for camera positioning, to indicate the strength of bandwidth and to modify the sensitivity of motion detection. In app support options include a product tour, mounting instructions, battery charging instructions and support articles. Light settings in the app allow adjustment of the ambient light setting for the dusk to dawn customization, brightness setting, constant or pulsating light setting, and duration of light setting. The duration of light setting allows for 1 to 10 minutes, but we saw no affect to the floodlight duration in changing this setting. Once the floodlight is activated by motion it will stay on for about 15 seconds until it is activated by motion again. From what we could gather online, this app duration would appear to only affect the duration of light when the floodlight is manually turned on in the app. Our attempt to contact customer service was somewhat frustrating. The first call was made from work and we were informed that we had to be by the unit for them to help us. Over the weekend we called again and after waiting for some time finally were able to talk to a customer service representative. Bottom line, she couldn’t answer our question as to how to get the floodlight to stay on for a longer period of time once it is activated by motion. This doesn’t seem like a hard question for a support person to answer and we’d think it would be a common inquiry. Online support options seem to indicate that a change needs to be made in the mode settings, but instructions to do so aren’t very good. Arlo could improve their online support by including links in the how-to instructions if one needs to go to another related support topic. Hopefully, we can try calling support again to see if there is someone available with more knowledge regarding this topic. Additional app settings are available for video and audio settings that include color night vision, battery optimization and auto zoom & tracking. One nice option with this floodlight camera is the ability to choose powering options with the rechargeable battery, optional solar panel and outdoor PA cable. We may consider going the route of the outdoor PA cable, but $50 for the Arlo 25’ cable seems a little steep to us. We have a magnetic, plug in charger cord from one of our other Arlo camera purchases, so we can also run an extension cord to use the magnetic connection to charge the camera battery without taking down the floodlight camera housing. Otherwise, one can remove the housing, slide out the battery and use the included power adapter to charge the battery. Generally, we are happy with this Arlo floodlight camera. The floodlight is powerful enough to light up a large area while the camera’s 2k video with HDR is excellent picture quality day and night. The Arlo app offers some great customization options that one will not get with an ordinary floodlight. While the camera design allows easy installation and accessibility for charging, one has to consider that it conceivably can also be removed rather easily also. Hopefully, we won’t ever have a theft issue or have the need to use the built in Smart Siren that one can trigger remotely during an event. For the price, Arlo offers some great features and video quality for multi-user access, voice controls and an expandable system. An optional subscription service will also allow users to access 30 days of cloud recordings.

Gets the job done
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. To begin, go to your app store and download the app (the Arlo app is a light green hummingbird with a dark green background and the category is "Lifestyle"). Create an account and then get started. As you are following the prompts, you get to a video that shows you how to install the camera. This was one of the easiest cameras to install for me. The video is so easy to understand, and the steps involved in setting up the camera are very quick and easy. I love the fact that it has no wires to connect to the house. It is all wireless, so make sure you have great connection. If you do not, you can always get a WIFI extender to help. To mount the unit on the outside, you only need a Philips or flathead screwdriver or power drill. It took me two minutes and three screws (these were provided in the box) to mount the base (the green arrow must point up) where the unit gets screwed into. One of the easiest installations ever. Once you are in the app, you make changes to the settings. At the top right corner of the app’s home screen, is a red circle with a white shield. If you press this button a window at the bottom of the screen pops up with the options call 911, call a friend, or activate the siren. You will have to setup the call 911 and call friend features on this. The siren you can test out now. Press “activate siren”, then it will ask you to select your device and then press it. Then swipe the red button to turn on the siren. I tested it, and it has a piercing sound then switches to a siren sound (like an ambulance sound). I didn’t think it was loud enough to get someone’s attention who is inside their house. From my room at the back of the house, it was difficult to hear, and this was with no other noise in the house. I’m pretty sure a neighbor who has a tv on in their house will not be able to hear the alarm. At night if the alarm goes off, perhaps. But I do wish the alarm was louder. I tried to get the speaker to work but could not. It has a feature for you to be able to speak to the person in front of the camera. In all fairness, I did not try to call customer support to get help for this. These are the two features that knocked my rating down by one star. The light on the unit is very bright. The video quality is 2K, and it looks very clear and crisp in the videos that the app records. You can also take snapshots and the pictures are also crisp and clear. At the bottom of the app, you have an icon for the library. I love how this is arranged. Once you press this icon, you have the days at the top of the screen that you can select and then all the videos and pictures appear below. If you do not have any videos or pictures, you cannot select the day. On the home screen you have a picture from the camera’s POV. This is the live screen. If you press the play button, you get a live feed. Below this picture at the bottom right corner, you will see a little gear. Press this and a window pops up for the device settings. Scroll down to “device utilities”. This is where you can make adjustments to the camera positioning and the motion detection test. This camera is best used along a flat wall or an inside corner (not the corner of the outside of the house). It has a range of 160 degrees. You get a free 3-month trial where your videos are stored on the cloud for 30 days. If you go to arlo.com, you can select the premier plan for $2.99/mo (one camera) or $9.99/mo (up to 5 cameras). My recommendation is this is a good product that gets the job done. There are some features that I would need more time to figure out how to use to get the most out of my unit. The resolutions for the pictures and videos are great. The siren is not loud enough for me, but hopefully loud enough to deter any break-ins and catch other people’s attention. The light is very bright at night and offers good natural looking lighting.

Great replacement for an old outdoor motion light
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This camera joins the stable of 3 other Arlo cameras in my home. I've tried a handful of different cameras and, so far, have liked the Arlo ones the best. This one is more of the same with a focus on the outdoors than the other cameras I have. Setup is pretty straight forward for all Arlo camera products and this one stays the same. You open the app, add a camera, follow the instructions on screen (which change based on the camera, so this one will talk you through mounting the camera and finding a good spot with good wifi coverage first) and then you're all set. The one setting that took me a minute to find because I just haven't had to tweak those settings in a while, was turning on the flood light on motion. This is set by default to do this and I forgot that activation settings were in the Mode section of the app where you can change what happens in various "armed" states of your camera systems. After setup, if you are using HomeKit with your cameras, you'll just see this new camera show up along with your others (sorry, I can't vouch for how android support works). Since I had other Arlo cameras and a newer base station that came with my 4K camera, the new camera just connected to that but during setup, the app did give me the option of not connecting to the base station but I did not try this option so I am not sure how well that works. Good to have options though! Usage is also pretty straight forward. The app works pretty well for an app that needs to do a bunch of complex things. I occasionally have an issue here or there with things just working weird but for the most part it works as you'd expect it. I only really use the app for things like reviewing footage because I can view the live feed from HomeKit. Picture quality is pretty nice and definitely trumps my Arlo Pro 2 cameras that are only 1080p cameras. The flood light is quite bright but I didn't find it akin to staring at the sun or anything. I think it should do a good job replacing your old motion light outside without upsetting the neighbors. Until this camera, I have the rest of my Arlo cameras set up indoors and just always plugged in to USB so I don't have to worry about changing/charging the battery. This camera (and I guess the standard Arlo Pro 3 as well, I'm not sure since I don't have one of those) does away with the standard micro USB plug exposed on the back of the camera and instead has a micro USB charging port that can only be accessed after taking the camera out of the mounting "case". Good news is I saw some contacts on the bottom of the camera that appeared like I could attach a magnetic charger to it so ordered one so I don't need to worry about changing the batter on this camera as well. The battery and overall size of this camera is a lot greater than any of my other Arlo cameras. All in all, this camera is very nice. Definitely overkill for "indoors" as the product name suggests but as a motion light and camera for your front door, I'm a big fan. If it's in your budget and you're looking for this kind of light/camera combo, I'd recommend it. I'd also recommend it if you're looking to add more Arlo cameras to an existing system since it "just works" with everything else.

Thanks for sharing your feedback about your Arlo Pro 3 experience. We want to mention that when the trial plan of your camera expires, you have the option to purchase an Arlo Smart subscription. Without an Arlo Smart subscription, you can still add up to 5 cameras to your Arlo account, live stream, and receive motion and audio notifications.

High end security with all the bells and whistles!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Arlo Pro 3 floodlight camera has been a great addition to our Arlo security network around the house. Our existing setup includes four Arlo Pro 2 cameras and three Arlo motion lights along with an Arlo base unit and Arlo light bridge. We didn’t have anything over the garage yet, our old floodlight was actually broken when we moved in about a year ago and we hadn’t gotten around to replacing it until now. Mounting the floodlight camera was really easy, if you already use Arlo you will find yourself on familiar ground, if you are new to Arlo, you will want to download the Arlo app and begin your set up there. The camera does not come with much of a setup manual other than directing you to the app and some set up videos online. The Arlo app setup steps are very thorough, easy to follow and include videos and helpful notes. The camera is battery operated, and can be attached to a solar panel. I plan to purchase a solar panel for mine so that I don’t have to change the battery, that being said, I’ve only had to charge the battery once over the past three weeks. I do have the light set fairly bright with the motion sensitivity set fairly low. The battery is larger than the batteries on my other Arlo cameras and Arlo lights but has the same mounting size. The spotlight is incredibly bright, when set to the maximum setting. I won’t keep it this bright at all times, but I love being able to turn it up if I need some extra light in the driveway. The camera video quality is clear, sharp and the wider field of view looks great! You can zoom in really close on the phone from the Arlo app to get a closer view when needed. The two way audio is a wonderful feature and can be useful to listen to what’s going on outside to to say hello to a friend! Another great feature, which I hope to never use, is the built in siren. The siren can be set up to trigger remotely, via the app, or automatically from a preassigned event that you can create in the Arlo app. It really is awesome, what you can do with the events and triggers in the Arlo app. For example, you can tell Arlo to turn on all lights when one light detects motion. Or, turn on all lights and start recording on all cameras when one camera detects motion. The possibilities, especially when paired with other smart apps and devices, are endless. Overall I’m so happy to have added this camera to my Arlo home security network. Another side of my house is now, finally, armed with Arlo!

Easily Installed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Freeing yourself from the junction box, the Arlo Pro 3 Floodlight allows you to install the flood anywhere you want. Delivering a powerful light when motion is captured and recording in 2K. I personally already had an Arlo system and specifically got this to extend my security perimeter. Thus I can not comment on using this without an application subscription as I happily pay it already. It was however, incredibly easy to add the Floodlight into my existing network. Quite pleased with how the floodlight performed. The motion sensitivity was perfect, but adjustable, right out the box for me. Installation was a breeze and the video recorded was crisp. Easily recommend.

Great addition to Arlo Security Camera
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great addition to the Arlo Security Cameras. Adding this camera was simple and easy just follow the direction. The floodlight is super bright and is able to cover about 25ft to 30ft. The wireless function works well but lags a bit.. Its about 3 to 5 secs delay. I think the best part of the Arlo Cameras is the battery. I don’t need to run wires to the camera for power or video. Definitely would recommend this.

Works great but notifications
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The camera works great. It detects and follows movement, the floodlights come on, and the image quality is really good no matter what time of day or night. I have it near my back door, and it illuminates the backyard nicely for smoke breaks and quick trips to the garage. Since it's wireless and cordless, I could put it just about anywhere. The movement following can be kind-of entertaining -- when it records us sitting on the back porch, the camera image can swing all over the place, zoom in and out, but it's a fun feature. I suppose I'd disable that for more professional use. It does reliably detect humans and animals vs random movement. There's a few things I don't like about it. I wish the notifications were more configurable, like a threshold or configurable window. If I'm out there moving around, it will send me a notification that it detects movement every 30 seconds or so. I really wish there were a way to have it alert just once for a set period of time. Also, I set the floodlight to stay on for 5 minutes, but it shuts off after about a minute and then back on when it detects any movement. Also, there's no onboard memory. It's a cloud-based service. They start you off with a premium account, but I'm not sure how much it's going to retain when I revert to the standard account. I'd really recommend using it with the arlo base station so that you can store your own recordings.

So far, so good.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The only negative I have about this product is the drain the light has on the battery. Even with the XL battery the light loses about 1% if the light comes on twice and stays on for 1min each time. The picture from the camera is crispy and clear, and the light is bright enough to see in the pitch black.

Arlo 3 floodlight camera

Best floodlight camera!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this camera to address a vulnerability in my driveway, after the catalytic converter was stolen from my car while it was parked in my driveway. The camera synced perfectly with my existing Arlo Pro base station and immediately showed up on my app. I was able to easily adjust the coverage zone and floodlight brightness. The camera is excellent, true 2k resolution, and covers my entire driveway to the street, and the floodlight is very illuminating. Mounting the camera was very easy as well, and felt very secure with the integrated mounting plate. Would highly recommend to anyone as either a standalone camera or integrated into an existing Arlo system.

The Fantastic Floodlight
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love this product. The 2K feature is amazing. The quality is on point and incomparable by far. To zoom tracking, hands down, my favorite feature. I had the Arlo Pro 3 system and absolutely loved that as well; wasn't a fan of needing a hub for a few reasons. If you want a great security camera.. definitely consider Arlo. You won't be disappointed. Missing a star because to optimize all features of this camera you will need to charge the battery at least once every other week, if not more. All-in-all.. not upset with the near $300 spent.
