Purchased this to replace my existing flood light. Works great in regards to its purpose of security surveillance. But is not so great in regards to acting as an actual flood light. To use this as an actual flood light, it would need to be plug into a power source permanently.

I set up my parents house and my house with over 16 cameras including hubs, driveway flood lights, doorbells The first few months were great, after the trail I’m told that only certain cameras come with 7 cloud storage. I bit and signed up for a plan since my cameras were just alerting me when something was there but wouldn’t show me… my dogs do that already Pay for the plan and now zones, smart detection and even decent recording are gone, why… Because you have to pay more for that… yes you have to pay for high resolution even though the cameras are sold as such 16 cameras, 3k to a company that was supposed to be great Don’t waste your money on and customer support is not very helpful

Arlo used to be one of the greatest camera systems you could buy.. Opening the app they force adds. Even though you pay for the service. Evey update latey, makes the camera stop working and you have to resync it. Or wiat until they push the patch. I do not recommend ARLO any more.

We have been using Arlo security cameras for quite some time. Our experience has been positive and we’ve been very happy with the video quality these cameras offer. One of the additional features Arlo added with its current Arlo system/base is the ability to use advanced AI to identify objects such as animals, people, packages and vehicles. System notifications will note this identification accordingly. This Arlo floodlight camera is a welcome addition to complement their other products. As with other cameras in the Arlo line there is no wiring required. Install the mounting bracket, slide the charged battery into the back of the floodlight camera unit and click it into place on the wall mount. The floodlight camera can be adjusted to encompass the exact area that one wants to cover with the camera’s 160 degree diagonal view. Since we already had the Arlo app, we simply had to add this as a new device, enter a custom name for it and then customize the camera settings to our needs. The app has utilities to see video for camera positioning, to indicate the strength of bandwidth and to modify the sensitivity of motion detection. In app support options include a product tour, mounting instructions, battery charging instructions and support articles. Light settings in the app allow adjustment of the ambient light setting for the dusk to dawn customization, brightness setting, constant or pulsating light setting, and duration of light setting. The duration of light setting allows for 1 to 10 minutes, but we saw no affect to the floodlight duration in changing this setting. Once the floodlight is activated by motion it will stay on for about 15 seconds until it is activated by motion again. From what we could gather online, this app duration would appear to only affect the duration of light when the floodlight is manually turned on in the app. Our attempt to contact customer service was somewhat frustrating. The first call was made from work and we were informed that we had to be by the unit for them to help us. Over the weekend we called again and after waiting for some time finally were able to talk to a customer service representative. Bottom line, she couldn’t answer our question as to how to get the floodlight to stay on for a longer period of time once it is activated by motion. This doesn’t seem like a hard question for a support person to answer and we’d think it would be a common inquiry. Online support options seem to indicate that a change needs to be made in the mode settings, but instructions to do so aren’t very good. Arlo could improve their online support by including links in the how-to instructions if one needs to go to another related support topic. Hopefully, we can try calling support again to see if there is someone available with more knowledge regarding this topic. Additional app settings are available for video and audio settings that include color night vision, battery optimization and auto zoom & tracking. One nice option with this floodlight camera is the ability to choose powering options with the rechargeable battery, optional solar panel and outdoor PA cable. We may consider going the route of the outdoor PA cable, but $50 for the Arlo 25’ cable seems a little steep to us. We have a magnetic, plug in charger cord from one of our other Arlo camera purchases, so we can also run an extension cord to use the magnetic connection to charge the camera battery without taking down the floodlight camera housing. Otherwise, one can remove the housing, slide out the battery and use the included power adapter to charge the battery. Generally, we are happy with this Arlo floodlight camera. The floodlight is powerful enough to light up a large area while the camera’s 2k video with HDR is excellent picture quality day and night. The Arlo app offers some great customization options that one will not get with an ordinary floodlight. While the camera design allows easy installation and accessibility for charging, one has to consider that it conceivably can also be removed rather easily also. Hopefully, we won’t ever have a theft issue or have the need to use the built in Smart Siren that one can trigger remotely during an event. For the price, Arlo offers some great features and video quality for multi-user access, voice controls and an expandable system. An optional subscription service will also allow users to access 30 days of cloud recordings.

Purchased to help protect our home. Spent more than $500 on two cameras that stopped working 2 months after getting them. Tech support even walked us through resetting them with no luck. Finally got one back working as our monitoring trial ended. After that we decided not to renew it and now the camera is useless. You have to pay the monthly fee to see your feed. You cant even review past footage with or without the subscription. Completely useless and waste of money. Dont trust these. My 3 $30 cameras have been working without a hiccup for 3 years.

Most expensive paper weight ever. This design is such a failure. Who ever designed this must not have validated its use in New England weather. Arlo 2 still works with no issues outside but this one, despite advertised as weatherproof is not. Water condensation is found behind the lens and in the floodlight. There is observation of corrosion at the charging site. I have error messages of low temperature warning in the summer. It’s August. Definitely not made for New England weather.

This camera joins the stable of 3 other Arlo cameras in my home. I've tried a handful of different cameras and, so far, have liked the Arlo ones the best. This one is more of the same with a focus on the outdoors than the other cameras I have. Setup is pretty straight forward for all Arlo camera products and this one stays the same. You open the app, add a camera, follow the instructions on screen (which change based on the camera, so this one will talk you through mounting the camera and finding a good spot with good wifi coverage first) and then you're all set. The one setting that took me a minute to find because I just haven't had to tweak those settings in a while, was turning on the flood light on motion. This is set by default to do this and I forgot that activation settings were in the Mode section of the app where you can change what happens in various "armed" states of your camera systems. After setup, if you are using HomeKit with your cameras, you'll just see this new camera show up along with your others (sorry, I can't vouch for how android support works). Since I had other Arlo cameras and a newer base station that came with my 4K camera, the new camera just connected to that but during setup, the app did give me the option of not connecting to the base station but I did not try this option so I am not sure how well that works. Good to have options though! Usage is also pretty straight forward. The app works pretty well for an app that needs to do a bunch of complex things. I occasionally have an issue here or there with things just working weird but for the most part it works as you'd expect it. I only really use the app for things like reviewing footage because I can view the live feed from HomeKit. Picture quality is pretty nice and definitely trumps my Arlo Pro 2 cameras that are only 1080p cameras. The flood light is quite bright but I didn't find it akin to staring at the sun or anything. I think it should do a good job replacing your old motion light outside without upsetting the neighbors. Until this camera, I have the rest of my Arlo cameras set up indoors and just always plugged in to USB so I don't have to worry about changing/charging the battery. This camera (and I guess the standard Arlo Pro 3 as well, I'm not sure since I don't have one of those) does away with the standard micro USB plug exposed on the back of the camera and instead has a micro USB charging port that can only be accessed after taking the camera out of the mounting "case". Good news is I saw some contacts on the bottom of the camera that appeared like I could attach a magnetic charger to it so ordered one so I don't need to worry about changing the batter on this camera as well. The battery and overall size of this camera is a lot greater than any of my other Arlo cameras. All in all, this camera is very nice. Definitely overkill for "indoors" as the product name suggests but as a motion light and camera for your front door, I'm a big fan. If it's in your budget and you're looking for this kind of light/camera combo, I'd recommend it. I'd also recommend it if you're looking to add more Arlo cameras to an existing system since it "just works" with everything else.

This was the first Arlo camera I grabbed, when I moved the house had some floodlights but these are a little weather worn and the sensors were a bit finicky so I have been looking to upgrade. The installation is very straight forward, download the app, connect to Wi-Fi (if no hub) scan the barcode on your phones screen with the floodlight camera and then mount. The app walks you through the process really well, while on the mounting step, it will measure the signal to your connection point (Wi-Fi or Hub) so you can place it in the best possible position. The floodlight mounts pretty straight, with a little bit of tilt from the base, but keep this in mind when you are thinking of a location since you can't do a hard angle, the camera does have a large field of view so it's not much of an issue, just need to think of the footprint of how much it may protrude off of the mounting surface. **At this point I only had a video doorbell from another company so most of my comparisons will be to the video on that, not so much the functionality since they are different.** One thing I have to note is the availability of live video, the floodlight is in an area with strong signal, but watching the live video is a little slow to initially connect. A lot of times I will go in and check the detected movement on the saved feed, which is very quick to check. I have not really played with the alarm, I have been tempted to turn it on since I have a stray cat that wanders across my yard in the middle of the night. The light does get triggered occasionally from passing cars, but not enough to be an issue, it seems to happen more when transitioning from day to night, overnight it doesn't trigger too often to movement outside of the set zone. Video quality is really good, camera brightness can easily be adjusted depending on how much light hits the camera based on placement. You can also adjust the brightness on the floodlight when it gets triggered and manually turn it on and off when you like. Now that I have this floodlight in place, have switched from my doorbell being active so much and now use the floodlight as my primary camera for detection on packages and such. I have had the camera up for over a week and it has detected a good number of movement and is still at 89%, the battery on this lasts for quite a while. I need to do some looking up myself, but I don't know if this camera accepts a solar panel? I would guess not, since the connector is hidden when mounted, I am however looking to get a second battery so I can have it charged and simply swap it when the battery gets low or dies so that I do not have to bring the camera inside to charge . Overall I am very happy with the camera, I wouldn't mind looking at getting an additional camera to place elsewhere, but I may pursue a bundle with a hub. I don't know if this will resolve some of the delay in commutation with the live feed, but I have never had bad audio, video or alerts from the camera when the device transitions from day to night. I would suggest others look at this product when considering a floodlight camera.

Buyer Beware. This camera/floodlight combo works great. As advertised on the box, purchase of this camera comes with a free trial of the Arlo Smart service. What the box does not tell you is that the camera or floodlight WILL NOT WORK without the Arlo Smart service. You MUST purchase at least a $2.99/month subscription just to keep using the motion triggered floodlight or camera. Be warned - the free trial period conveniently expires after the product return period.
