This was a recommended product, but we returned it because we didn't want to have competing routers, having already purchased the eero Mesh router three-pack.

I was switching over to the triple play with Comcast and this was listed as one of the approved modem routers. I should have read the fine print more thoroughly. The sales person lead me to believe that this model had the ability to set up a guest network for visitors. Such is not the case, this is a basic modem router with limited options. Had to plug my old router into this new one to be able to continue having the guest networks. This great big thing has the phone hookups, but is very rudimentary as far as functionality goes. As pricey as it is, you don't get much value for the dollar spent.

Only buy this if you have the service provider that is listed on the package. Dont listen to the best buy employee that says it will work on any service provider.

There’s nothing wrong with this device, however, DOCSIS 3.0 supports up to 32 downstream channels and this only supports 24. And for some reason the 32 channel version was a couple bucks cheaper.

In my judgement unless you're using a separate modem and router you won't get a better unit at this time for a smaller place. I'm in a 1300 sq. ft. condo.

This is a great replacement modem since we own this versus renting. It is compatible and much faster to work with our internet speed.

The system is good just can not use it for long due to DOCSIS 3.0 is not upgrade-able. So I had to run up and get a new one that supports DOCSIS 3.1

    Arris and Xfinity disagree

Arris SVG 2482AC WiFi & Voice Modem made to work with Xfinity only. After registering, WiFi and Ethernet connections are erratic and very slow. Arris says because only 3 Upstream channels are bonded. Arris says device requires 4 upstream channels minimum and Xfinity says only 3 are available. No help from either company. Reconnected my Linksys WiFi and is better. Terrible customer servise from both companies.

Fairly unstable and had a lot of issues setting up with Xfinity/Comcast. Had to reset modem dozens of times to get it to lock in / communicate. Range is worse than my 3yr old ARRIS SURFboard AC1600 Dual-Band Router with DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem. Performed all updates and it took me an hour of resets to get it to connect and in the end no change.

haven't gotten the phone to work, but I think it's a matter of calling the provider for the final step. I have had the Arris a couple months just hasn't been a priority to get the phone working

If you're buying this because it has usb ports, DON'T. I bought this gateway to use xfinity voice, and it has two usb ports. I though they were for USB printers. They only charge things. Nothing more. Had I known this, I would have purchased the Motorola gateway of equal value instead. It was better anyway. Not worth returning after the fun time I had activating it, I'll just buy a wifi printer and save myself another headache.

    Shady business practices

Basically, buying this modem allows your ISP to sell all your browsing activity to 3rd parties. Sure, this will allow you to return your rented modem to your ISP and save you money. HOWEVER, they lock your DNS settings. This means your IPS is the only one that can set this at the modem level. This allows them to collect all your online activity and sell it to third parties. You can still change these settings on each of your computers, phones, etc.. but seeing as I OWN this modem it's ridiculous I can't set my DNS settings on it and have all my connected devices set to auto. I wouldn't be surprised at all if xfinity/comcast payed arris to make this change to their modems. I don't mind my ISP seeing my browsing but them selling it is just not okay.
