I was tired of paying COMCAST for a modem that was getting old, so I decided it was time to buy a cable modem/router. I choose the ARRIS - SURFboard AC-1750 Dual-Band Wi-Fi Router with 24 x 8 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem - White after reading a lot of user reviews between this one and a Netgear Nighthawk cable modem/router. Setup was easy, and activation through Comcast was easy. The speeds re great for both wired and WiFi connections throughout my house. You might need an extender if you have a larger home. The only issue I really had with switching to the ARRIS was that when I checked my Comcast bill at 3 and 6 months out, Comcast was still charging me the rental fee for their modem/router. Both times they credited me to refund the payments. It took the second call for the Technician to remove the rental fee for good. Strongly recommend checking your Comcast bills for couple of months to make sure the rental fees are no longer on your bill. Very satisfied with the ARRIS modem/router.

So far so good! Fast wifi, easy set up - good range- no complaints (fyi you will have to change your wifi name and password once connected or it will appear that you are not)

2 years of use no issues i have xfinitys gigspeed plan and get 400-700mbs speed on wifi which is expected depending on what time of day network has congestion and signal interference with wireless but wired i get 1gbs sustained no issues. Modem is fairly future proof with gigspeed becoming the standard in 5 years getitng the jump ona gigspeed modem router combo is always a good idea youll save its cost 3x over in 5-6 years of use and its more than capable of lasting that long with the gig speed capability. Works better than your standard rental in singal strengh aswell i have no issues connecting to wifi in my backyard drive way side walk etc basicly my whole home and 90% of my yard are covered in wifi where as the rental sections of my home inside would have no singal like the basement or upstairs bathroom.

Purchased in November. Finally had Comcast come to install. Said it didn’t have some type of M number for them to enter in system. Tech was here for an hour. Not good!!

Instructions are hard to follow; Xfinity link-up nowhere near as easy as instructions lead you to believe; Xfinity techs not cooperative.

I was a little skeptical about this modem/router combo as I've never tried anything except Netgear. I went ahead and purchased it and I've been getting more speed than I originally paid for. Great purchase and no issues thus far. The install was quite simple.

Installed this in a rather complex scenario including security cameras, alarm (not xfinity home) and telephone and another router. Once I read the user manual it went up and active within an hour. A bit pricey but considering I've paid Comcast $120 a year for the last eleven years it's a light at the end of the tunnel in two years, I should have done this from the beginning. It's a LOT faster than the Technicolor and has an extra usb port. Do it!

This is the exact same modem / router that Xfinity supplies to their customers. It is working fine, and I'm sure it will continue to do so. Additionally, I'm saving the Xfinity rental fee every month. In no time, it will pay for itself.

This modem provides all the functionality I need at a very reasonable price. I replaced my Comcast modem and will save enough to pay for the cost of this modem in 1 year.

Does exactly what you hope it will do...eliminate the rental fees from Comcast, while still providing internet, wifi, and voice/telephone services. Pretty easy to set up...did have to call the cable company to complete the changeover. All in all, very happy that I finally bit the bullet and got rid of the cable company's equipment.

Worked fine Xfinity had small problem on setup. But now works great

The Surf Modem has worked flawlessly during the first three weeks of use. It will pay for itself in about one year making it a great investment.

Purchased it instead of renting it from Comcast. The tech had no issues provisioning it and it works great. The tech told me that this one is far better than the one for rent. The signal is very strong. Very satisfied.

Best investment!! Save money on your Xfinity Bill. The box states phone service required. It’s a lie!! Xfinity over charges for equipment! Get rid of cable TV too get Sling TV with Apple TV and Roku devices and only keep Xfinity internet! Best option!! Also don’t have to worry about Xfinity using your modem for a Hot Spot either!! Take charge of your service not the other way around!! My last Arris modem lasted 10 years.

So far works great. Right out of the box. After Xfinity records your router you are good to go.

So far everything seems to be working just fine. I hope and pray it will continue.
