Great router that reaches pretty far without losing connection. Little pricey but given what I needed it for, it fits the bill.

Purchased in 2020 and did a great job working with several streaming TVs, a couple of tablets, phones, and laptops. Then, a storm rolls through Atlanta, NO POWER OUTAGE, but this modem goes down. I tried several times to reset it and even had comcast/xfinity to try and remotely connect. It would never reboot and function properly. Extremely disappointed only 3 years in. For the price I paid, I expected better.

Bought this to replace my rented xfinity TG-1682 gateway thinking it would give me the same features. Installing it was easy and connected fine to my service and phone. What I noticed is that the panel lights are not colored as shown on the box or online. They are bright white LED's like the rented gateway. Also upon further exploring, this model does NOT support Xfinity "Xfi" service online or app. Major disappointment for me as I love this feature to configure, name and monitor wifi settings. It will not support xfinity home (security system) as well. I returned it and staying with the latest model that xfinity has. This way as soon as they come out with a new model, I can upgrade without spending $240.00. Plus if anything goes wrong with renting a unit, they will exchange it always.

I have Penn Teledata and they said we can help you. They were able to connect but I couldn’t get the 2.5ghz band to work. I called Arris and the guy said he can only help Xfinity and Comcast customers. I wanted a username and password to try to adjust settings but he would not help. The box is hard to open. There is no guide in the box. The speed of the 5ghz was great and worked on both floors of my house. It takes a bit long to reboot though. I took it back and got a different modem which has a guide and software. This company disappointed me. If you have Blue ridge Penn Teledata: avoid this unless you want just one band. I need two for my security system.

DON'T GET IT! Good price, but inconsistent!

I finally trashed this horrible Arris router, and got a Technicolor one through Comcast. ISSUES: The Arris router (purchased here) has been one problem after another. The 1st one I got was defective (would not work at all). After multiple calls, and finally involving the CEO’s office, I finally got a replacement. It worked OK for about a year or so, and then the 5 Ghz Wi-Fi connections started to falter (even on a laptop that as located directly NEXT to the router). Other pieces of equipment in the house stopped connecting to the 5 Ghz connections as well (only the 2.4 Ghz would connect). And then recently, the Wi-Fi connections for everything started to become unstable. And all along, it didn’t have a great reach to some of the rooms that were not close to the router. EVERYTHING you don’t want in a router -inconsistent connection, -inconsistent Wi-Fi, -poor customer service, ----and Comcast won’t update it due to it not being “their rented equipment” = Arris says connection issues are a Comcast issue, and Comcast says it is an Arris problem. What a mess. BUT, once I started renting the latest Comcast (a Technicolor mfg’d model) modem/router directly from Comcast, my life got SO MUCH EASIER!! Consistent connections, and no Wi-Fi issues. See more notes below. ROI: So, I finally decided to rent the latest router from Xfinity (a Technicolor model). I hated to do this (spend $14/month, vs just buying one). But if you look at the math, for $14/month, vs the price of buying one for $249 or $299 = for the purchase price you’d get about 18 – 21 months of rented payments. Considering the lifespan of the technology of Wi-Fi router (Xfinity said they often upgrade routers every 1.5 to 2 years, as the technology gets better over that time) = it doesn’t make sense to purchase a router. And it definitely doesn’t make any sense to purchase this Arris router at all. I was tempted to get the Netgear version of this one. But for the math of renting, and how fast technology changes, I decided to rent the latest one from Xfinity/Comcast. Either way, stay away from this Arris router!!
