Reading some other reviews, I can only guess they bought a different device. I disconnected my old Arris eMTA/cable modem, followed the quick start guide, as advised, called Comcast, got put through to ACTIVATIONS group, and within about 15 minutes, up and running. Activations has to first add the device to your account, then activate it and then move my Xfinity phone line to it. Bingo... All done. It has better coverage than my old ac1200 router that hooked to my Arris TM822G. Oh yea, the TM822G battery works fine in the new gateway! I'm happy!

I've been renting a router from Brighthouse/Spectrum for years now and my service was always dropping out & slower than the speeds I was paying for. I didn't realize that it was a piece of junk router and not just bad service. Since purchasing this router I haven't had any issues with service dropouts and my internet speeds more than tripled. It's the best 200-ish dollars I have ever spent. I highly recommend this router.

Was told this unit should help increase download speed and it did. However, I bought the unit because it had modem and router and then found out Router was not compatible with Suddenlink. Not this equipments fault but you would think a technology company offering services would make sure their systems were compatible with the latest technology.

OMGosh I absolutely love this modem. I recently started a work from home job and my old modem would drop its connection every hour at 49 (8:49, 9:49, 10:49, 11:49, etc.). This definitely does not do that. My internet seems to be faster with this too. I do think this is a bit pricey but after using it, it is definitely worth it.

Our last wifi router/ phone went bad and the geek squad service plan tried to fix it and they couldn't so they replaced it with this. We have had it for about 6 months and we couldn't be happier.

I was trying to cut down on my Comcast/Xfinity bill with the purchase of my own modem. The modem works great with no WiFi blackout spots, but it is not a way to save money on my Comcast bill. It will take over two years to recoup the cost of the modem versus rental from Comcast. I anticipate that technology will improve in 2 years and just maybe there will be a lower cost alternative to Comcast and Verizon.

I searched around and found this modem and router might be the only one which could replace the Xfinity combo. It is saving me $14 each month and speed is faster than the Xfinity combo. I usually don’t give comments unless the product is really impressive. I am giving this product the highest rating.

I had to swap out my Arris XB2 wireless gateway for a Cisco DPC3941T XB3 after a Comcast software update caused issues with the particular model. I was happy with the Cisco until a later Comcast software update caused a known issue with that model when set to bridge mode. I swapped to the newest Arris TG1682G XB3 and it worked fine except, after another software update, the wifi and Tel 2 lights remained on despite wifi being turned off and the Tel 2 not being used. No legit retail telephony modem was available for my class of Internet service until I happened across this model right after it was released. It was pricey considering I didn't need the wireless functionality but will pay for itself over time now that I'm no longer paying $10/mth to rent a gateway from Comcast. Also, connection speed & quality test results report less jitter in the connection with this vs the rented Arris XB3.
