Know what you are buying
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This modem connected seamlessly without even contacting Xfinity. This is not a voip Telephony modem so those are you who are disappointed should have read the box before buying it. I went to the Arris website and did some tweaking on migrating the 2.4 and 5 GHZ channels and selected different channels (not as frequently used) to increase speed while simultaneously checking my speeds with PCPitstop. I am most pleased with this modem. If you don't know what you are doing find someone who does. This is the best modem you can buy for this price point.

Has great speed, but lacks coverage
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have TWC and upgraded to this Modem/Router because I now have 30 Mbps service. My previous router wouldn't be able to handle that much data. I previously had a Linksys router purchased in 2008 and it worked great. Reached all areas of my home with GREAT signal strength. The same devices in my house now have a FAIR signal. I cannot stream videos using Netflix, Amazon Firestick or anything like that anymore in my home. The Motorola/Arris tech said since the router is not centrally located in my home he cannot help me with the signal issues. Based off the fact that I had no issues with the previous router, that is 7 years old, I am disappointed in this product. The product sends off a strong signal close to the device, but is definitely weak through out the home. I do not have a large house. 2 floors and approx. 2000 sq ft. Take this information for what it is worth, but I'll be returning this product and upgrading to another brand and model.

Didn't work perfectly
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this gateway for my xfinity internet service. I signed up for only 25/25 mbps. It was easy setting up, and I really liked that I could control the settings online. However, it did not work with IPv4 addresses, only IPv6 addresses. Everything was correct on my internet provider's side. My tech guy said he uses the same gateway and it works for him. I'm not sure why it didn't work for me. I contacted the manufacturer before returning, but the issue remained unsolvable. Unfortunately, I had to return it. I exchanged for a gateway of a different brand, and my internet worked perfectly. PS the gateway tends to get really hot from all the lights but after adjusting the LED control it cooled down a bit.

So Far So Good
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I replaced my old zoom cable modem/wifi combo with this cable modem combo I have just installed it, but so far it's greatly improved my wifi speed. In the same location in the house my old zoom would get about 18mbs, now with this one I am getting little over 70mbs! Definitely worth the upgrade! I just installed it tonight so can't comment on anything else.

Very poor signal
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Knew this was going to be trouble when the website would not allow me to register the purchase. Called customer service and they said "oh the website has issues". It was fairly easy to setup even for someone like myself who is not a techie. Wireless is constantly fading in and out. Fairly small house, 1,100 sq ft, and the connection constantly fades. Doesn't matter if you're in the same room or not. Bought this because I thought it would be much faster and more reliable, but my old N150 wireless rarely needed reset and the printer had no problem staying connected. WPS button on top of this router needs to be pushed everyday to re-connect to the printer. The printer is about 5 feet from the router. If you connect using an ethernet cable, rather than wireless, it works great, but if you want a reliable wireless connection buy something else.

Excellent WiFi speed and coverage
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Dynamite comes in small packages! Don't let its small size fool ya. A little history, Switched from AT&T Uverse to Xfinity and decided to buy my own modem/router to avoid equipment charges. Started with a cheaper Netgear C3000. It provided horrible download speed over wifi at less than 20 mbps within 5 feet of laptop, so after much troubleshooting and research, took it back and exchanged for this Surfboard model instead. Thank goodness I did! I Hooked the Surfboard in and it is running far better than expected. Xfinity rep advised me WiFi will not normally get full 100 mbps over wifi, and told me wifi normally runs at about half, in this case 50 mbps. However, to my pleasant surprise, I am getting up to 80 mbps download speed from as far away as over 30+ feet through multiple walls. Wifi Coverage and stability is good throughout my 1400+ square foot home. I have tested it running Netflix and Youtube on four different laptop computers at the same time, plus while browsing with my cell phone. All of them run simultaneously with no problems. I further tested download speed using my cell phone in the back corner of my house and download speed still tested at 48 mbps + at all times over wifi. Upload is stable at the expected rate of 5 to 6 mbps at all times. I continue to run random speed tests multiple times daily to ensure all is operating as expected. These speeds remain very stable. The unit has been up and running for 8 days consecutive since originally purchased thus far with no issues nor need to reboot. As others have identified, the indicator lights are quite bright so may prefer to position unit in area where this is no bother. Most reliable speed test site in my experience is here, http://www.speedtest.net/

Nice gateway
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this gateway to eliminate the cost of renting a modem from my ISP. After using this gateway for a year it will pay for itself! The setup was easy, once I logged into the gateway web gui, it prompted me to change the default username and password, which is a definite plus. The other options within the software of the gateway are easy to access, and offer many options such as firewall strength, port forwarding and MAC address blocking. I'm looking forward to seeing what this gateway is capable of doing and how well it holds up!

Worked great...for 1 month
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this item in September, 6 weeks later began dropping signal constantly. The speed is great, when it's working. I've attempted to contact Arris support, they seem only interested if this was purchased for use in a business. I bought Geek Squad protection, but the live chat people are unhelpful and everyone just keeps saying to call in - I don't have time to be sitting on the phone to deal with this - should be able to return it instead, but outside the return period. So, here I sit with a mediocre paperweight. I'll be going back to NetGear unless Arris decides they like their consumers and helps me get it resolved.

Mediocre device if it worked
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.after returning two other failing products to Best Buy, I finally broke down and got this two in one Modem/Router. This device didn't even make it 8 hours and its already dead. The device wouldn't even power on at all. -Coming from an Asus RT-AC87R and RT-AC68P routers, the user interface for this device is nowhere near as user friendly or as feature packed. - Enabling the firewall my my internet go from 62Mbps down to 35Mbps. - Only got around 45 Mbps on wifi doing a speed test with my cell phone but with the AC68p I got all 62Mbps that I would normally get from a wired connection. I wouldn't waste your money with a two in one device if you can help it. Try to get a separate modem like the SB6141 and a router. If you don't really care about having them separate then maybe try this product and hopefully you have better luck!

Good, but Pricey Modem
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was one of the more expensive modems. However, it works well and is easy to set up. The down side is that there is no on/off button, you must unplug it from the power source to turn it off. In addition, it gives off a very bright blue light that can be very distracting.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Thanks to the Best Buy sales guy for giving me such great advice for this product told me for my new setup and internet service this would be my best one to get for the money I wanted to spend. If you don't want to spend $350 on the nighthawk this is a great purchase!

no issues so far
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought the router to be used with Cox internet service. The technician was able to set it up without any problems, and we have been using it without any issues for the last three weeks. The wireless coverage is good everywhere in our 1300sqft house without an extender. Highly recommend it for internet speeds up to 100mbps.

nice features but just didn't do the job
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was easy to set up but wifi coverage and reliability didn't meet my needs. Wired connections were great but I have well over a dozen wireless devices throughout my home (1500sqft) that experienced drops throughout the day. Devices only one wall away would see timeouts. The 5.4ghz band was nearly useless to the furthest points of my home. Attempted to modify settings to change wireless channels as well without success. Opted for the Motorola MG7315 which has twice the number of gig switchports (4). Devices are now getting "very good" wifi connections as opposed to fair/marginal with the Arris 6700. If you have a smaller home with fewer walls, this may might do the job. Otherwise I wouldn't bother.

Good but could be better
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Router works much better than my old Motorola Surfboard, but the 2.4ghz network occasionally disappears entirely and leaves me with the less desired 5ghz network until I restart the system.

Two WIFI in one
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Needed a router for cable tv and Internet quick. This was recommended by sales person. Was surprised that it has two different router names so you can select what devices are running off of different router names. Still fast as tested by Fast.com

Ok, but not powerful enough for bigger spaces
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The device worked and the ethernet was very fast; however, the wireless range was short. I ended up switching this for a Motorola cable modem and a separate Asus router.

Good for the first 2 and half years
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Worked fine up till about three months ago. i noticed my phone wasn't getting good connection anymore like it use to, some of the laptops in the house wasn't getting connected at all, and my TV would all of a sudden start buffering. All happened in the past 2 -3 months when they all worked fine up till that time. i called my cable provider and they ran test everything fine on their end from what they said. and I called Arris and because my 2 year warranty ran out before they would even listen to my problem or anything they were going to try and charge me almost $40. $40 for probably a simple fix on their end. But they know and what they charge me $40 this time and then charge me more the following time or charge me $40 for a problem they cant fix and i just wasted $40 plus the cost of a new modem. I wouldn't recommend this product just for their customer service charge over the phone. Oh they said it was free to do a chat on their website. good luck trying to find that
