Not satisfied with connection on wireless

Connection is very inconsistent and you probably have to be sitting on top of this wireless modem to get it to work. You can't hook up more than two items to it wirelessly. I will be returning it and exchanging it for a different modem. You get what you pay for. For a few more dollars I will get one that I can connect 10 things up to wirelessly.

    Good, but not Great

I purchased this modem to use with Xfinity TV and internet. We have an 1860 s.f. single-story home. The range doesn't cover as much as our old AT&T modem, but overall reaches to all rooms, but one. The signal is weak in the room furthest from the modem, but works. Will be looing into purchasing a range extender.

    Much needed upgrade

My prior router was going on 7 years old. When I found out it wasn't able to keep up with current speeds and new protocols, I went shopping. This router has all of the features needed to bring me up to date and utilize the expanded bandwidth available now. It was fairly simple to set up. It keeps a good connection, too, despite recent power outages. Great job, Arris!

Not sure if it's my ISP or the modem itself but I'm always getting disconnected then reconnected to the network. It happens to all devices in the house. Might need geek squad to come out and assist. The jury is still out on this one.

I've had this product for a few months. The signal continually cuts out. I have it located on the second floor of my home, and it barely even reaches the first floor. I never had this much trouble with my Netgear.

Poor Product offset by Clueless, Rude Arris Suppor

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Product installed easily and was provisioned quickly by Time-Warner Cable. Basic functions performed well, but wireless was slow. The real kicker was that it was impossible to establish a VPN connection to my girlfriend's employer, which is an absolute necessity. I contacted Arris support and the first person I spoke to was polite and provided some steps that I might try and said that I should call back for them to run deep diagnostics on the box if we were unable to establish VPN connectivity. Nothing worked, so I called back and was connected to a rude, arrogant and clueless support person who said that the box was just fine, there was nothing he could do except place my girlfriend's laptop in the DMZ which is an unacceptable solution. Returned the product to Best Buy and purchased Netgear C6300 AC1750 which not only outperformed the surfboard but was able to establish VPN connections immediately after installation and provisioning. Personally, I'll avoid anything by Arris and give my business to its competitors.

Initially, I reviewed and gave 4 stars for price and function. However, at 6 weeks wifi failed. Returned to Best Buy and replaced with a NetGear. I have to believe that the amount of heat this thing generates contributed to it's quick demise.

    Not reliable for the price

I purchased this to work with my TWC connection. It was easy to connect and setup. The wifi router was fine when it was working but I found that it dropped signal enough within one week for me to return it. The signal was also not as strong as I expected. These issues would be ok if the price were less than $100 but for over $100 I would expect something better. I spent the extra $20 to upgrade to the Netgear AC1750 router modem (model C6300) and it was well worth it.

    Don't buy this

I'm really disappointed. I've owned this modem for 6 months. Every time I use the internet the signal disconnects from the modem to my wireless laptop. Sometimes it happens 4 times within an hour. I have to unplug my modem and let it restart in order to get my signal back. I called the company and they said that the wireless signals are getting confused with my neighbors. (what?) so we changed the channel it is transmitting on. I'm not sure if this helped but it went back and its worse now. Not sure if this is related but the modem gets very hot and I told them about this. Also I cannot turn off the lights. At night the modem lights up the room. I'm going to call the company again today and find another solution or try to get my money back. The only redeeming quality is that customer service was very friendly and professional.

2.4 GHz Band SSID Just Disappears!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This integrated modem/router makes great sense for saving money if you don’t wish to RENT one from your ISP. However, just like others here and on other Review Boards… The 2.4 GHz Band SSID just disappears. All devices on this band i.e.; cameras, smart devices, printers, sonos… just stop working, soooo frustrating! Arris Customer Support is basically worthless, only recommending a Reboot which, just like a Power On/Off Cycle, is only a temporary fix! I should also state I own a Tech Support Company, and I tried everything available to reconfigure this model to correct this problem to no avail, i.e.; channels, extended SSID names, power, security… and that my old Motorola SBG6580 model(only 2.4GHz) has worked just fine, and is now back up online. So I’ll look for a different product shortly as I want/need a faster in home wifi 5 GHz signal speed, hope this is helpful…
