replaces but not better than comcast unit

Wanted to ditch the $10 fee from comcast so I grabbed this unit. This one will work for me since I don't have voice on my account. Well it's better looking than the huge black box comcast gives but so far that is about it. The wifi range on the unit seems to be a bit less than the comcast. The real issue I have is things will not stay connected. Sometimes the laptops or phones you need to toggle wifi on and off to connect. My camera's time out before they are connected making me have to try to connect a second time before they work. Worst of all is the chromecast devices. Both of mine say they are connected to wifi but we can not cast to them until we power off the chrome cast and power back on. Maybe I need to tinker in the arris settings some more but the comcast unit just worked. Maybe none of this is the router/modems fault but it sure seems like it is. I still recommend this over paying comcast more money.

This was on the Time Warner approved list. My prior modem was an Arris and I had no problems with it, it just was very old and couldn't handle the new speeds. Put this in, activated with TWC, and works great. Upgraded to Ultimate 200 plan and I'm seeing 217Mbps down and 22.5Mbps down. Wireless strength is fine for us.

Bought this modem/router to replace the junk one that time Warner rents you. Great buyfor the money. I get much better range with this, plus two channels, a 2.4 and 5 ghrtz, which means my network has plenty of room for multiple devices. If you're renting from time Warner, stop. This will pay for itself.

I've had separate modems and routers and when my TDS modem fried my WIFI router, I decided to buy my own and stop renting. This is an excellent product, with good wifi coverage and excellent speed. Best Buy even did an online search for a lower price and honored it at check out!

    Constantly drops Wifi Signals

I worked with Arris to resolve why this is constantly dropping WiFi signals but unfortunately I will be forced to return this :(. Just paid $220 at Best buy. You would think for such an expensive unit it would work great. The modem is away from all electronics and is on a signal that no other WiFi connections are using. WiFi signal is dropped from all of our mobile devices, which are: Galaxy Note 4 Apple Iphone 6 Galaxy S5 HP Laptop Samsung Tablet

    Doesn't have much range

I have this in the attic of a mid size, one story home. It is a direct replacement for a rental unit from Comcast. I never had any issues with the range on that unit, but I was hoping to improve the speed at which we were able to connect. I have moved it around a little (within limits of wiring) and found that it just doesn't reach to all corners of our home. I have to say that when we are using our devices within the limited range that this product allows, it does seem to work smoother and faster than our previous set up.

Since purchasing this modem I have only had to reset it once unlike other cable modems where you have to reset every few days. So far its been the best one I've found so far.

    Way better coverage!

I previously owned the SBG6580 and constantly had to unplug and reset it, plus the coverage was not all that good. It was located in my living room and I would constantly have issues with connection in my bedroom. I ultimately had to get a Wi-Fi range extender to remedy the problem. Since getting this SBG6900AC, that is no longer a problem. No more unplugging or restarting my computer to re-establish a connection and I can stream from any room in my condo and I have several things on my network. Spend the extra money and get this one and you won't be sorry or aggravated.

    Dropped and bad connection

So to start off, I'm with Specteum. I'm not sure if that had anything to do with my problems. I purchased this item after getting frustrated with Spectrums modem. After reading reviews I decided this was the best option. I plugged this in, configured and all was great for a few weeks. 300mb wired and 60mb wifi. Then the connection started dropping multiple times an hour! Connection was lost for just a min but that gets annoying! The log showed a ton, ton, ton T3 Timeout Errors. I tried resetting and called spectrum. Everything with spectrum was fine on their end so I was left with nothing. A week later the range started getting poor. I basically had to be right next to the modem. At this point going back to Spectrums modem was better than this. I ended up picking a Netgear Nighthawk 1900 that is working amazing so far. Connection and range are amazing! Unfortunately BestBuy's return policy sucks. Since I went over the 15 days I have an expensive paperweight until I call the manufacturer and square everything out.

Bad wifi - worse service from Best Buy

First part of this review is for the product. I purchased this needing a cable modem for my new house and wifi access for my devices. The guy at the store recommended this product after listening to my some-what heavy usage household. The product connected quickly to my ISP with little fuss or manual intervention. The good experience stopped there. After about three weeks with the modem, I experienced continual periods of time where the wifi data transmission would completely flat-line. The data transmission from the wifi connection would just stop for 30-120 seconds, then pick back up. The connection to the wifi would never actually drop, just stopped sending data packets. This would happen several times per hour. The 2.4 Ghz connection was affected the worst, but the 5 Ghz connection had the same issue. This occurred across many devices. The wired connection was not affected, so this points to the device, not the ISP. I would NOT recommend this if streaming is critical without lag, such as Netflix, VoIP, gaming, etc. At this price point, this combo modem/router should not have this issue. I did phone Arris support, who made some suggestions on changing some of the wireless settings. I tried this for about a week with no improvement. Second part of this review is for Best Buy. The people in the store are terrible. I went to return this item. After waiting about 30 minutes, the clerk gave me a choice; get a refund on 3-5 business days or pick out a new item and have a refund/pay for the difference. I need a modem and wifi router, so I said I would look at something else. The clerk said he would have someone meet me over there to look at the other routers. I strolled and waited around the routers for about 30 minutes. After no one bothered to assist me, I got back in the return line behind a half dozen other unsatisfied customers, and waited again. When it was finally my turn, I told the uninterested clerk that I just wanted a refund. I went to another store and got a better product at a better price. Done with Best Buy.

    Had to replace too soon

Bought my ARRIS AC 1900 a couple of years ago. It is in a vacation home that I am rarely at so unit doesn't get much usage. Last year I had to drive out to the house (4 hour drive) to manually unplug the unit to reset it because for whatever reason COX Cable couldn't reset it remotely. Yesterday, I go out to the house and Internet is slower than can be...keep getting the resolving host message so I try to do a reboot. After the reboot it never comes back. Gone. These things should last a lot longer than 2 years. I went and bout a NetGear today. I've had much better luck with those.

Great for TWC! 10 min setup

What can I say, hooked it up, TWC activated - worked. Now have a hub, 2 wireless routers, 2 Roku players and an Xbox 1. All devices are ethernet as I want the fastest connection. Reading the review about the Wifi - there may be something to that, but I'm connected now and it may be a bit "glitchy" or it may be that TWC is currently doing maintenance to upgrade this area. It worked seamlessly replacing the Ubee modem I had from TWC.

I purchased this cable modem & router because I refused to rent the equipment from my internet provider. The guys that helped me in the store were very insightful and patient with me as I asked them a billion questions about internet speed and connection capabilities/ports. So far I haven't had any issues with the product and have found that it has plenty of ports for data, phone, and USB.
