Purchased 4/19/16, problems started 1/31/17. 2.4gz stopped working and 5gz band so weak only 1 device will connect via wifi. Tried all the tricks and called our isp. Signal fine to house...did speed test, fine.Arris just not working well. Called Arris, tried everything they said,no difference ...told me it's too much interference from neighboring devices??? Called a few days later, same stuff to try, again..too much interference. Called 2 more times and did Factory reset 2times....nothing changed. So this is almost a month of calls .... called again......they will replace it......but, I can send my unit back(probably takes a week or more ) at my expense an then they will ship a new unit ( 10 business days or more) no charge, so approx. 3 weeks with no internet OR they will ship new unit now and charge $9.50 ground..5-7 business days..and I keep using this barely working unit and ship it back to them at my expense as soon as I receive the new one. So because their unit cr$&@ped out after just 9 months either way I choose it will cost me $20 or more for Arris to honor their warranty!?!? So it's already cost me more than $24 a month to use! I must say though that before the 2.4gz stopped working it was great, reached every device in my house with no problem. But I will never buy another Arris/Motorola device. 1 star is for the patience the service reps.

    Great Modem Horrible Router

Arris makes the best cable modems in the world. I will always continue to use them. As for their combo router modems I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. I work in the IT field and I was unaware how horrible the performance of the of the WiFi was. The WiFi continually dropped I replaced the unit twice. In the end I replaced the whole system with a Arris Docsis 3.0 modem and Netgear Nighthawk R7000 and my network has never ran so fast before. Great modems just horrible combos stay away!

I love how it is a router and modem all in one. I am not tech savvy so it did take me a while to set up.

I've have this device for about 2 months. I had problems with the device since day one. Even talked with Arris tech support that day. After resetting the modem we were still having issue. I had Comcast out here 5 time for slow speeds. The signal test come back clean. They say it's the modem. I called tech support and they sent out a brand new replacement. Beside the device being defective the wireless signal strength is horrible. I had to purchase an access point and disable the wireless on the modem. This is a very experience modem and you should not have to do this. There is no new firmware available for this device.

    WiFi drops. Reboot resets everything!

I needed an immediate replacement when my Medicom supplied router/modem died. Didn't want their junk again so I went on best buy to get the BEST I could find same day, emergency need. Spent $200 on this. I now regret. Arris does NOT offer free tech support. I could not return this unit because the failures began after BB's return policy. iPhones, iPad all drop the wifi signals constantly. Family of five, small 1500 sq ft house. No interferences. I have to now reboot 2-3 times a day because wifi slows or stops. Soft and hard rebooting causes all the settings to go back to factory default. Arris was zero help. They wanted me to pay for support. Now I read where people say do NOT buy a modem/router combo. Buy them separately. Now I know why. The wifi with Arris is notorious for failures. I really can't believe all the positive reviews since I bought this. Had barely a couple reviews at the time. So many more issues with failure to do what it is programmed. Band steering fails! Everything keeps pushing through the same port no matter what I do. Went through the manual numerous times. Did my own factory reset. Same problems. Mediacom guy came out to show it was not on their end, installed their modem and I verified not their issue. I have an Almond running out to get wifi now. Sooo ridiculous. $200 (plus an Almond $100) down the sewer drain.

    HORRIBLE!!!!

This product was an upgrade to a new product that i got and was updated (Firmwire) to the point it was no longer compatible to my ISP (Zito Media). This product was slow!!! very similar to the rental modem provided by the ISP, which lead me to buying my own modem vs renting. My facebook pages would take for ever to load, had to refresh any pages that i would open on my laptop multiple times before they were fully loaded. College labs (Forget about it!) It took for ever to load the lab. after a few minutes of waiting i can only view half of the lab. (very frustrating) Because this Ariss model was an upgrade to the Netgear AC 1750, I expected nothing less of a performance to the Netgear model. So, after 13 days of giving it a chance by looking for updates (none available) and calling my ISP to see if their systems were at fault. I decided to return it for something else. I upgraded again! To the Nighthawk from Netgear and just minutes after installing it i got my speed back. Now lets see how this new Netgear modem holds up in the next week or so. I would suggest to try a different Arris Model if you like the brand. This model did not work for me. I hope my review helps you make a decision as to which modem works for you!

    Poor signal strength.

It's streamlined to look nice, so it only has one antennae, so it's range isn't very reliable. I'd buy seperate router and modem to get the best strength.

Returned after two weeks The Good: Easy to set up and use The Bad: Poor coverage range. Needed to use range extender just to reach bedroom on other side of house. We returned and purchased NETGEAR Nighthawk C7000-100NAS for $20 more and saw internet download speeds in the bedroom rise from 2-3 MBPS to 35-40 MBPS. The Netgear can also handle 24 channels instead of the Surfboard's 16. *The Netgear we purchased is configured only for Comcast service

I was told this is the best 2-in-1 especially for gaming. I've had it for two months and the Wi-Fi is absolute garbage. I called Arris and they claimed it's the service provider, the provider tested my connection and everything is fine. If I hard wire I get the speed I'm supposed to.

    Bad Router .... Drops constantly

Do Not Buy Wifi signal drops constantly (just like my friends). This is a modem company making a router modem combo, so now not surprised the router stinks. Anyone who buys routers know they fail regularly. Buying another combo, but from a router first company Netgear that I've never had problems, the AC 1750.

Wi-Fi is horrible and disconnects every 20 minutes or so. Arris will not send me a replacement because my power levels were slightly high. My power levels are still within their own acceptable ranges. So basically on 5 separate occasions I was given the run around by Arris chat support, and told it was the cable company's problem. If I could give it 0 stars I would!

Was hoping this unit would be a great all inclusive unit that worked well. I continuously dropped wifi using this unit. Set up was easy and speed was adequate when it was connected. Returned to best buy.

    Disappointed

After 6 mos of very spotty performance, the modem/router stopped working completely. Spent hours trying to troubleshoot and had Comcast out 3 times until we finally realized it was the unit. Best buy would not issue a refund after the 14 days and Arris will only replace the unit. Since I didn't have time to wait 2 weeks to return this unit and get a new one, I bought a netgear system and it's working great. Wasted $200 and I'm very disappointed in Best Buy and Arris.

Just spoke to their customer support - expect 50% of your provider's speed using this wireless! Despite their claims of such crazy fast speeds, it just isn't true.Yes, speed is better with 5ghz, but not all devices are 5ghz capable. So sorry I spent $$$ on an upgraded model when basic would have been fine.

    ARRIS Router/Modem, big headache

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Recommended by salesman, had it installed by a professional- 2 things happened: 1) printers did not work and 2) lost internet on Samsung Smart TV. Had TV hard wired, but printers still did not work. Over $500 later, issue still not resolved and ARRIS reps accused our IT person of installing it incorrectly, and said we needed to call Brother to figure out how to make printers speak to new modem. Not happy.

Lots of Flash, but lack of protection

The issue is simple, this unit lacks some of the very basic abilities to protect your network. It does NOT allow you to switch off ping response on your internet port. As a result people will attack your modem looking for weakness in your home network. My modem has been hit with over 116 attacks in less than two days!!! Don't buy this cable modem!!!
