Returning
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I will most likely be returning tie modem/router. While it was easy to set up and works as advertised it lacks a key feature that is important to me. That is the ability to specify the DNS provider. My preference is to use OpenDNS. This device is hardcoded to use DYNdns. If I had I realized this, I would not have purchased this modem. If you don't mind using the default dns, or you don't mind manually configuring the dns on each device connected to your network you will probably like this device. However if you want to easily control the dns for all devices connected to your network this is not the modem for you. I would recommend to a friend with the above noted disclosure.

Deja Vu
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Same as all the rest on the market for home use! This is the 4th different brand I have tried and is the 6th wireless router. It works OK but just like the rest it needs to be "power cycled" once a week. It locks up and I have no internet access. Problem is when the power is removed the wireless network drops out and my HP wireless printer looses all the net info! Its a real pain to re enter the info when you have to scroll thru the alphabet 1 letter at a time! Kinda pricy, It works great most of the time ,I just dont see any real benefit to choosing this one over a cheaper alternative, say a dlink.

It is a great Wireless Gateway
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The cable modem gateway is a good producti. However, the instructions for installation was lousy. The tech writers definitely need more work. After connecting the wireless gateway to the first computer using the installation disk, the gateway gave me a password to record. I was supposed to use that password to connect other devices. This was not correct. The password did not work. To connect devices with Android, Linux, and Windows 7, I had to use the key as the password to get a connection. Once I figured this out, then these devices were easy to connect. Then I used the gateway to restrict access to only my devices by using the devices MAC addresses. Now, everything works beautifully!

Did not work for me :(
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I read tens if not hundreds of reviews. I saw how this modem and router worked great for the majority of people, I unfortunately feel in the relatively small group of people that had a lot of problems. Internet seemed to work OK, the cable signal (dBm and SNR) was good, speedtest gave good results, but it turned out that the cable connection (with comcast) was unreliable with moments during the day that the modem said I was connected, but all packets were lost (basically equivalent to no internet). I had thousands of corrected and uncorrectable errors reported by the cable modem. The wifi was also unreliable, losing packets frequently and often with spikes in the ping times. As suggested by many people with technical issues, I returned it and got an Arris modem and a router+Wifi. I've had the new setup for a few days now, no packet loss, much more reliable Internet speed and no problems with Wifi. In four days the modem has reported 0 corrected and 0 uncorrectable errors.

Well Constructed, Fast & Highly Dependable
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased my modem in August and have had no problems with the equipment. However I have experienced a number of issues with poor performance; which when researched thoroughly have been due to faulty equipment in the main trunk lines in my area. Once the faulty equipment has been located & replaced by Comcast on the trunk line each time my service has been exceptional afterwards. In each instance Comcast has taken 30 days and numerous service technicians working with my to identify the issue. And in most situations has had me swap out perfectly good equipment to isolate the cause of the problem residing on their side.

Great Modem Router
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My old modem router died, cable company replaced only the modem and I bought my own router. Unforunately it was always disconnecting. Changed them out with this modem/router combo and have had no problems at all. Easy to install, even for a novice. Performing fine so far. I would definitely recommend to others who have had the same problem.

Finally a wireless cable gateway that works.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have tried using wireless gateways and routers in the past with my cable internet service but no matter what I did, I could only get things working for a few hours and then suddenly I wouldn't be able to connect wirelessly. It would actually take more time to get it working than the service would stay available to use so I finally gave up. I got this modem last weekend, spent 15 minutes hooking it up and activating it with Comcast and haven't had a single problem since. I also don't know what is going on with the other reviewers who have complained about signal strength. I have central "smart" wiring in my house so the modem is in a steel enclosure in the basement and I get 5 bars of signal anywhere in the house, including the garage.

Worked Great in a 3000 Sq.Ft. Home
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After tripping over my USB cord, every time I went outside on my balcony, I was done. I need a wireless modem fast. Did some research on my cable provider and this modem was one that they said would work for my computer and cable. Got it, set it up, and my tripping days are OVER!!!. It was easy to set up and I've had no problems connecting at all. Got a wireless adapter to go with it, that's about it.

Easy setup
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was easy to install and is nice if clutter bothers you. My only issue is that the signal is not broadcasted as strongly compared to a separate router and modem.

Ho Hum
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I could not wait for the stores to get the SBG6850 so I ordered it direct. Fast connection speed and setup was easy. Just Called Comcast and gave the the mac and was up in minutes. The only problem I have is the range on Wireless is terrible. Intermitant connections to my two laptops. PS3 connection less than 25 ft sucks big time so I have it hard connected as well as my office. I have another XP pc in my office running a D-Link Range booster dual antenna that works fine for browsing but gaming hangs on My granddaughter's online games hang. This could be the websites so I do not know. I definitely would NOT recommend this modem for what I paid.

Easy Setup, Fast Wireless, Great Gigabit Port
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was using a Linksys cable modem (Docsis 1.0) and wired router and wanted to consolidate the two into one. Motorola had the only solution I required. The first one I bought was already in Comcast's system so I had to exchange it for another one. I guess someone used it and returned it. The setup for the second one was simple. Downloaded the Comcast configuration software, connected the cable to the gateway, ran the install software from comcast and bam, setup is done. Took 15 minutes. Features I really liked was the following in no particular order: - DOCSIS 3.0 - 4x 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet Ports - Dual Band (2.4GHz / 5GHz) - 802.11a,b,g,n - WPA2 (AES), WPA2-PSK (AES), 802.1X (EAP-MD5/TLS/TTLS/PEAP)

Buggy firmware
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The modem was relatively easy to setup - that is if you only want the basic cable modem/router functions. I asked when I purchased this item if it allowed me to reserve IP addresses on my network. I had already returned one unit from ZOOM that did not allow me to assign ip addresses. I was assured it would. It does allow you to reserve an IP address, but it has forgotten it by the next day. I contacted the manufacturer and had my case elevated through tech support. They verified that the firmware did in fact have a bug and suggested I return the item and get another brand. So I did. I purchased a separate cable modem and router. I now have the ability to reserve ip addressea for my printers, remote access points and computers.

Pretty easy to set up
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had been shopping for a new router and uncomfortable with the reviews I found for those advertised most often. Then our modem tanked! Even though our ISP recommended this combo modem/router, I went to BB to buy it. The sales person was very helpful. It was pretty easy to set up, our internet connection has improved and the telephone support and online chat help agents were very helpful when I had questions during the install.

Good all in one with Wireless N
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have 10 devices connected and they all work great and without trouble. I do have excellent signal strength throughout the house. I also found the admin options on the the router to be very robust. On the downside, Comcast had lots of trouble getting it provisioned. I invested about 4 hours over 3 days of calls to get it provisioned. They did not have the residential provision codes and told me it was a business modem and asked where did I buy it. Ultimately, it was escalated across many people and it got resolved.

Great Product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Been using it for about a month now without any issues. I have the lowest speed available by cable company (1Mbps)and it works pretty good. videos are slow loading and some don't play that good because of my cable speed, not modem.Thought cable company couldn't control speed and this modem would give me max speed, WRONG! But I like it anyway. Easy setup with cable company Charter Communications.
