I'm using this in my 1200 sq ft apartment. It has never stopped working. I've never reset it or turned it off for 2 months. Usually all other modems I had started to give errors or broke down after couple of weeks. Even in the back room I can get good signal to my devices.

Good product, lousy support

There is essentially no documentation supplied with the product. Went to their WEB site to view the installation manual but the link took me to the FAQ page. Did find the username and password to access the modem finally. Never found anything discussing the setup options. Called their help desk, but you have to pay $30.00 to get any help. Don't even help changing the default username and password for the modem or the network access password. The average user would be forced to pay for help in these areas.

I've had this modem for over a year now with bright house networks as my ISP. I could go on forever about the tech information and the connection this modem provides but instead I'll simply say this. For the time I've had this modem, I never had a problem with the device itself. The one time I did have a connection issue, the problem was the CMTS itself. (Which is what is on the other end of the cable line feeding you innernets.) It has great a great receiver/transmitter works flawlessly if you have a good connection with no major loss in the line.

Very Simple Installation

This was a replacement for a "rented" cable modem and a separate wireless box.
I have found the wireless connections to a couple of laptops and a TV (netflix receiver) work regardless of distance in the home (multiple story).
Longest distance I have is about 60 feet through walls and a floor. No Problem

Has Channel Issues

The Modem is fast enough. The wireless has issues with interference, slow connection speeds and limited range.
i set the wireless to its own channel to cut down on iterference still 1/3 wireless conenction speed via speedtest. I connected my Apple Airport to the router and tripled the wireless speed.
IF you buy one of these get the router only, and use your own wireless. The tech support person I called said that all was working as it should and I should expect wireless speed at 1/3 of connection speed, this is not true.
The model runs at 60MBS for the modem and the wireless deliver 16-20 at close range and 1-5 outside 50'. My Airport runs at the same speed as the modem 60MBS.

Bought as replacement to Arris modem and separate Belkin router. Easy set up with Mediacom and fast internet speeds.
I wish the parental controls were more user friendly, does not appear that you can control internet use by device, but still looking into this.

Got Suddenlink? DO NOT BUY!!

If you have Suddenlink, do NOT buy this model. It has known software issues that have not been addressed by Motorola. I bought this model and had daily connectivity issues. I took it back hoping it was a bad modem and I still have the same issues. After speaking with both Motorola and Suddenlink techs, it turns out that a known software compatibility issue exists causing the modem to fail. As of 09/01/2015, there is no fix. I was told that other than model 6580, the others should work fine. I am not going to take a chance and will buy a different product line. Any DOC3.0 with at least 8 channels will work with Suddenlink to include any brand. Do not be tied to Arris/Motorola.

I love how easy it was to install especially with Comcast which is usually trouble! Installed in 20 minutes. I am using as an upgrade from Motorola Surfboard SBG900. I used for three years without problems. Congratulations Motorola on making great networking products!

My router works well for our 4000sq home. I wasn't sure if it would be strong throughout our home, but it is. It's not even centrally located & it works well.

i got this modem/router gateway about 3 months ago.. it was between this or the similar zoom product which is cheaper...but i went with this one... after 3 months of use it has started dropping my connection and fairly often. at least once a day. not that it matters but nothing at all has changed with the computers on my network or with my ISP. the dropouts last a few minutes. you can mess with your network settings and restart everything all you want but it wont help... you just gotta let the modem work itself out, and it will usually within 5 minutes and your back up and running. modem runs a little hot too. its a good idea to point a little usb fan on it or something...not a bad product overall...works with comcast. and while the dropouts are annoying they aren't a deal breaker..

wifi slow

Modem works ok hardwired but wifi is pitifully slow. Did not work well with IPAD or IPhone after the last ios upgrade. Had to purchase a new modem after only 6 months of frustrating slow internet with the Surfboard 6580. Had my new modem(Netgear) up and running in less than 10 minutes (not hours like Motorola) and all devices working at amazing speeds (even wifi). My only regret is not taking the Arris Motorola modem back after the first month. Had my internet company come out twice, thinking it was my connection. Don't waste your time or money on this product.

I have Comcast as a provider and live in a 2 bedroom 2 bath ~1000 sq ft apartment. I also use security settings on my wifi devices.
This was my second of three routers in three weeks. The first was a Zoom router/modem and didn't work with comcast. I wrote a review for that as well. This one was my second and it has terrible wifi range. Speeds on iPad w/ retina display were at 5 mbps with a straight shot about 20' from the router. In comparison, my new setup has 18 mbps in the same locations. I didn't even try the wired connection since I stream to my appleTV and iPad. Spend the money and buy a separate modem and router.
My new setup is a Motorola SB6141 with an ASUS RT-N65R and it's PHENOMENAL! It's >$200 but if you stream and video chat with wifi, it's the way to go! (Not to mention save that modem rental charge on your comcast bill)

Great piece of hardware, not a single problem since the moment I installed! My ISP (Charter) had no issues w/ the provisioning process, and I was up and running within 3 minutes. Would recommend to anyone... and have already bought a 2nd one for home use. (It works flawlessly for streaming HD movies throughout my house, unlike my old router/modem setup.)

Bought this unit to replace an old modem and a no longer functioning wireless router. I was skeptical about an all in one device, but so far it has worked out well. After the "root canal" set up with Comcast, the unit has mostly performed as described. Download speeds sometimes are slow and if multiple website are open at same time the modem struggles a bit. Wireless function works well. Satisfied so far. Hope it lasts longer than my last router.

This modem is not a good all in one device!

I am a Comcast customer. According to the Specifications of this modem, it supposed to be the top all in one cable modem available on the list of approved cable modems and EMTA devices. However, the actual performance of this modem can't beat the older version of Motorola (SB6120)... If you're looking for an all in one cable modem, this device may provide what you need. But if you're looking for a performance device, this is not one you're looking for. For example, the Motorola SB6120 + a Wireless N Gigabyte Router (about 50 buck) is way better!!!

Fast Speed but Bad Coverage

I live in a 3,000sqft home and the signal is very weak if none at all on other side of house. We have 7 wireless devices in the home and this modem cannot perform with that many devices, very noticeable speed drop with more than three devices connected. Also have had to reset it four times in 30 day period. I am returning it to Best Buy today and going with a Zoom modem and Cisco EA4500 router. I have always had great experiences with the Cisco wireless routers. Had Cisco modem and router before but modem died after 10 years of use.

No need to pay for modem rental. A little pricey but comes with wireless modem built-in. Range is okay.
