This unit works better than my old router and it has a built in modem, the cable company rented me there modem. I was able to return it and save about $10 a month on my bill. This unit will pay for itself in a little over a year.

Motorola makes the best cable modems on the market. I have purchased this one for my daughter because I have yet to have one fail on me. These support the faster internet speeds.

If you have Comcast or the east coast version of the company. this is the same as their router. Works way better. Unlike theirs you wont have the need to trade it in every 3 months due to it going out. This has been a boss for me so far

    Nice modem/router combo

Got this mainly because I needed an upgrade from my old modem. Also wanted to save some desk space so the router combo was a plus. Setup was mildly challenging, mainly because the included instructions gave the wrong initial generic password that would enable the setup so my computer could find it in the first place. Had to call the ISP to get the correct one. Not what I would expect. Been working fine since, though I've not noticed any speed differences.

Got this for Comcast and and connected without a hitch. The folks at Concast Activation took the info and it worked out of the box without a hitch. Fast response and the WiFi is great. Great modem!! Pays fro itself in the first year.

I wanted to stop paying extra to rent a Comcast modem so I decided to purchase this modem. It was easy to install and setup following the instructions. I usually have no problems staying connected to the internet while watching internet tv. Overall I'm satisfied with this modem.

Initially I had some problems with the set up, but apparently after about 5 calls to Comcast, I learned they were more network/Comcast issues and less hardware issues on my end. Since then I haven't had any issues with the wireless or the wired features of this router/modem. I do have a wireless booster, given the modem is on the 2nd floor and the signal was weak in the basement (2 floors down) but other than that, I've been happy with this device.

If you are getting Comcast Xfinity you need to buy this router. It is so much better than the one they offer for you to rent from them for ten bucks a month. Plus if you buy this its ten less dollars a month on your internet bill.

Truth is, unless you live in an area prone to line surges or don't plan to stick with cable internet long-term you are much better off paying for your cable modem up-front rather than renting one from the cable company. Motorola/Arris makes the best ones--they just work and are proven workhouses. This one is DOCSIS3 and has a built-in wireless router (not terribly feature-rich for a router, but it gets the job done and makes for a simpler setup).

After TWC kept increasing our modem rates we decided to purchase our own modem. Very easy set up and works great and no more crazy fee increases from TWC for their modem.

I've bought a number of routers, but this one was, by far, the hardest to configure. It would forget my changes, causing me to have to reset it multiple times. Some features are disabled when other features are chosen, but it's not clear at all in the interface when this will happen. Eventually I got it all working, mostly by trial and error, but I still can't get it to remember my password. Connecting to Chromecast took hours to figure out due to a setting that does not allow devices to talk to each other over wifi (which is enabled by default -- huh?). The performance of the unit in terms of speed is great, when it works. I've measured 160Mb/s. But it drops the line multiple times per day and changes transmission speed constantly, even when hard-wired... I can not tell if these are Time Warner's fault or the modem/router. It always chooses channel 1 for wifi, even though that's really crowded at night in my neighborhood. Routers should be plug-n-play. You'll need to do your homework for this one.
