Good if you don't have optical option. On TV

However my TV had an optical out port so I connected the optical from my TV to the base station, and from the base station I ran a optical cable to my sound bar. Didn't need this anymore!

Does The Job!

My only complaint was that it acts as its own device and doesnt let your TV/monitor recognize that its hooked up to a game console system. So instead of your TV letting you play in Game Mode, it gives you random TV settings and not Game Mode Settings. Needless to say I'm happy that I'm able to use my Astro A40s and A50s with my PS5!

This will also work with the Series X even though it says it's for PS5.

Astros optical ca le adapter for PS5

Since it doesn’t have an optical port on the Xbox this fixes that issues to hear game sound with your astros

Should've been Free!!!

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This device for the price after dishing out $300+ US Dollars for a set of A50 headset should have been a freebie, In addition to that it only allows HDMI audio passthrough and does not take advantage of the PS5 next gen audio. I expect something more from Astro/Logitech, like a firmware update that enables you to utilize those features... "Cross fingers so that they don't make me purchase a newer version; $300 more out of my pocket". I have hopes for this device. Another downside is that you have to use almost all the USB ports on your PS5 in order to connect it, so I recommend getting a USB hub that is compatible with the console.

Posted .Hello Edman201. Thank you for taking the time to write your review of the HDMI adapter for PS5. I understand your frustrations about spending the extra money on top of the cost of the A50's. Another option would be to take the optical audio from your TV and plug that into the A50 base station for audio. As for the USB port issue, neither the A50's or the HDMI adapter should use any USB ports on your PS5... unless you are using them to power the units. You can alleviate this by plugging them straight into an outlet or a powered USB hub. Data is not transferred over the USB, only power.

Astro HDMI/Optical Splitter

I use this for my Astro A40 TR setup, yes it's only a 4k/60 2.0 HDMI slot. But there aren't many HDMI 2.1 monitors at the moment nor games that can do 4k/120 anyway.

It does require power, though, so it will take over a USB port or a wall socket.
