It’s good but not the best
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me say that I’ve had these since 2018 Black Friday so I have an experience with them first let’s start with some pros and cons Pros: they have good sound -they fit comfortably (I kinda have a big head and feel great) -wireless -they have a flip to mute mic for quick muting -they have mic montering (don’t know if you can turn it off check via the Astro command center) -3 presets you can edit if you please Cons: mic is kinda bad l, my friends tell me it’s not so good but is ok I also heard it and it’s true -being wireless it needs a transmitter and I have the og Xbox one and it was a hassle but got used to it -they cut out every now and then -(might not be for all) they are not noise cancelling -they don’t really have bass (I’m not an expert so take it with a grain of salt) you can’t really feel it -when walking in my apartment just down the hallway with a wall in between they kinda cut out but other times it didn’t -the plastic on it kinda creaks and they are a little heavy Overall: if you want a headset with good bass don’t get these but if you’re looking for a decent 150$ headset (sale 110-130$) don’t care about bass then get these now with many cons those are a little minor so yeah decent pair of headset.

Quality Headset for $150
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Astro A20 Wireless Xbox Headset is a fantastic choice. Amazing sound, a flexible microphone boom that can be moved out of the way, comfortable to wear, sturdy construction and all while remaining under $200. Setup is simple and easy. Once setup, you can use the headset between your Mac, PC, or Xbox. The only thing that I don't like is that the headset does not cancel out all other external sound. While this may not matter to some people, those who want the experience of complete immersion, external sound is a problem. That being said external sounds are dampened and muffled quite considerably. The Astro A20 delivers great sound, you will hear sounds as if they are in front of you, behind you, to the either side, above you, below you, and any combination. The A20 headset is made of durable plastic, comfortably padded over-ear speakers and a rubber headband. The one thing I do not like about the headband is the headphone stand cut out. The cutout makes for a weird feel on your head. One of the best features of the A20 is the lag free wireless connection. There is virtually no lag between game audio and the audio being transmitted through the headset. If you're looking for a quality headset that delivers amazing sound for less than $200 you can't go wrong with the Astro A20 Wireless Xbox Headset.

The Sweet Spot in Astro’s lineup
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.PROs True Wireless Headset. No wires needed for Xbox Chat/mic The Xbox One version also works completely on PS4 (Wireless mic and Game Audio). The battery is rated at about 15 hours on medium volume. Full-sized USB port on the back that you can use to charge your headset or other devices Works with both PC and Macs Useable while charging CONs There’s no wired Audio support. Headphones turns on while charging SOUND This has essentially the same sound signature as every other Astro headset, which is a good thing. It’s a slightly warm, slightly aggressive sound, that seems designed to split the difference between fun and accuracy. Highs are gently reduced from their maximum without a hint of fatigue. Bass is right in that nice middle ground between punchy and rumbly. The mids are present and don’t sound hollow or muddy. It sounds very friendly, impressive, and pleasant…sort of like what I expect out of Bose products. It’s tuned for long gaming sessions, and I think a slightly warm signature is just the right call for that purpose. This pair does not include the Dolby Headphone decoder of the more expensive A40 and A50 units…but you can use software virtual surround solutions like Windows Sonic or Dolby Atmos, and those work great. Astro includes three default EQ presets. The first is called “Astro,” and it actually gently elevates the highs and upper mids without touching the bass. Even with this EQ turned on, the headset presents a nice, generally warmer-than-flat sound signature that I could listen to all day. The second mode is called “Pro”. It adds a somewhat aggressive hump in the bass and boosts the upper-mid footsteps region. I don’t really like the way this sounds at all, particularly for music. However. It’s probably designed for gaming tournament scenarios. The extra hump in the bass helps further block out outside noise, and the boost in the upper mids helps bring out footsteps and game chat. So I get why this preset exists. The third preset is called “Studio”, and I think it’s trying to mimmic the slightly “W-shaped” sound of something like the M50X. I enjoyed the sound of this one just fine. It’s nicely detailed, and more aggressively punchy in the bass than the default setting. It has slightly boosted highs too, that have just a touch more detail and “tizziness” to them, but still don’t sound fatiguing. Of course, with a computer, you could delete all these if you’d like. If you hook up the A20 to a Mac or a PC, you can download the Astro Command Center and fully reprogram each of these EQ presets to your heart’s content. You can also tweak the mic settings a bit. This is just simply a nice-sounding headset. The highs are present but not too aggressive. And the bass should satisfy all but the most obsessive of bassheads. I think the equally-priced RIG 800 sounds a touch more impressive on its default EQ…though that headset has some issues with digital clipping/distortion when your source volume is turned up, which thankfully isn’t a problem on the A20. Astro has always presented a solid, safe, fun sound signature across their lineup, and it’s really nice that the two lower-end offerings retain that. ISOLATION The A20 has an impressive amount of isolation for a cloth ear cup headset. The ear pads seal well against the head, and have a very dense memory foam inside. It won’t block out as much noise as an active pair of headphones, or some of the better leatherette pads on the market…but it’s great for a headset using cloth. COMFORT Astro has once again nailed headphone comfort. The ear pads have larger holes than those on the A10, so you shouldn’t have any huge issues with the pads or the insides touching your ears. The pads are shaped comparably to those on the A40 and A50, with a nice subtle molded shape that helps make up for a slight lack of lateral rotation in the cups. Although the covering is similar in quality to the cloth on the A10, the foam inside the pads is perhaps the nicest Astro has ever used. It’s a squishy memory foam and I really like the way it feels. It molded nicely around my glasses. That Crusher Wireless headband pad serves its purpose well, and offers more direct head support than any other Astro headset. All of those use half-length cloth pads. This pad is made of a soft rubber with a pocket of air behind it, and it feels quite nice on the head and in the hands. It also picks up a ton of dust instantly. The weight and clamping force are just about perfectly balanced, and the result is a headset that’s easily wearable for hours, once you get it adjusted correctly. If you don’t place it just right, the ridges in the headband might cause you minor discomfort, but that’s about all I could see being a comfort issue. Astro can stand proudly alongside HyperX as a headset company that actually cares about user comfort. What a concept! :) MICROPHONE I never expect wireless mics to be amazing, especially on gaming headsets. There’s not a lot of bandwidth to spare in the design of these products, and often the mic audio gets short shrift. No such issues exist on the A20. Like the A10, it has an exceptional microphone. The tone is natural, with nice resonance in the voice. It has decent background noise cancellation. There’s a tiny amount of barely noticeable compression, but honestly I’ll take it. This is perhaps the best-performing wireless mic that’s not on a Razer product. You can use the Astro Command Center software to pick from different noise gates, and adjust the amount of side tone as well. This directly copies the features of the more expensive Astro headsets, which is wonderful. FEATURES/EXTRAS/WIRELESS PERFORMANCE Inside the box, you get a wireless transmitter, the headset, a 1 meter USB cable, a half-meter USB cable, and a 1 meter optical cable. The wireless transmitter is nice! It has just enough weight to it that it doesn’t feel hollow, and it has rubber feet so it won’t slide around on your desk. I bought the Xbox version, so it has a toggle on the back between Xbox and PC modes. In Xbox mode, the USB connection basically fools an Xbox One into thinking a controller is connected, and you can pump all the chat audio to your headset that way. Regular game audio comes in over the optical connection, and you can balance these levels with buttons around the volume wheel on the headset. In PC mode, you can get audio to the transmitter either through USB or optical…but you’ll need to use USB if you want to use the mic or the Astro command center. The headset will also work with a PS4 in PC mode, if you connect up both the optical and usb cables, thanks to the PS4 supporting most generic PC USB headsets. So if you need compatibility with all three platforms, the Xbox headset is the one to get! The white light on the transmitter turns green when you switch to Xbox mode. There are also some Call of Duty branded versions that sell for 10 bucks more and come in different colors…and for your troubles/extra cash, you get a code to redeem for microtransaction bucks inside for Call of Duty: WWII video game. Yay? Highly recommended for gamers on a budget that want a solid mic, a slightly warm sound, and good comfort! FINAL THOUGHTS Astro has basically produced an A50, but taken out the magnetic removable ear pads and the Dolby Headphone decoder…and then lopped over $150 off the price. That’s an astounding deal if you’re looking for a headset and you’ve decided that Astro is your brand of choice. The RIG 800HX offers a free Dolby Atmos code in the box right now, and slightly better battery life. However, it will have some issues with digital clipping if you don’t turn your source volume down, and it doesn’t isolate nearly as well as the A20. It also doesn’t have as nice of a microphone. This hands down beats anything Logitech has out right now. In short, the A20 is a totally good and fine wireless headset with exactly the feature set I’d expect at this price point, and sound that mirrors its more expensive cousins. In fact, if you’re good with stereo or one of the software virtual surround modes Microsoft has recently introduced…there’s almost no practical reason to select the A40 or A50 over the A10 or A20. Sure, the more expensive headsets do offer interchangeable ear pads. But that’s kind of the one leg they have left to stand on, direct comparison-wise. I still love the more premium A40…but these cheaper models are perfect for most consumers who want the same sound and feature set, as long as you don’t want to change out your pads all the time. Highly recommended for gamers on a budget that wants a solid mic, a slightly warm sound, and good comfort!

Not too shabby
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These are pretty solid headphones. I did knock one star off because there seemed to be some transmission problems between the receiver and the headphones from time to time and no troubleshooting made it better. This doesn't seem to be happening for me now. Occasionally you will have to perform a reset on these because they act really weird. The only thing I can say is they don't go as high in volume that I would like, but maybe that's a good thing so I don't blow my eardrums. Overall very solid product.

Never ending issues.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For a $150, mid-level headset, this headset delivers on sound quality and comfort. What REALLY SUCKS about this headset, however, is that it CONSTANTLY has to be reset, losing mic functionality with every other self-mute or reconnect upon walking out of the room and back into it. It took me forever to realize the quickest fix was switching it to PC mode and back to xbox mode (turning it on and off a bunch works too, thats fun mid-game). Around 75% of the times I turn on my xbox, the headset fails to properly connect (even when plugged in!) so jimmying the connection adds a minute to start up every time (annoying when hopping on for 1 quick match). On top of it all, the on/off button and all other control buttons seem to work only when they want to. 3 months of every day use and I still don't know whether holding the on button or simply tapping it is what actually works (it seems random every time). The thing is actually so tough to turn on sometimes, that I am currently convinced my headset is entirely broken--I can't get it to turn on at all. I purchased in March 2018, and this is the last straw leading me to feel the need to leave this review. Thankfully I know headsets always break (the xbox studio ones have never lasted more than 4 months for me despite gentle care, i've tried 3 pairs), so I got the warranty. I can totally see why with a single use, this headset may be reviewed very highly, but prolonged experience with this device is a NIGHTMARE.

Inter fears with xbox controller.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The sound on the headset is great. Battery last a really long time. I would rate a 5 if it didnt randomly disconnects my controller to the xbox. Both xbox one S and one X. Doesn't matter the controller or the xbox. I don't play a lot of multi player or it would be more then just annoying. If you play multiplayer a lot be warned this might not be the headset for you.

Sound was pretty good but microphone was horrible
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. With wireless mics you always expect the microphone to be pretty bad, I've tried a few different mics and the best I've found were the TurtleBeach stealth 700 mic, the only bad thing with that is that your voice was always low for other people. So every wireless has issues but wow, It was so muffled that it sounded like I wrapped it in a fur coat. Everyone was complaining about it, it just sounded so unaturally. The headset sound through the ears were pretty good compared to every other mic I had. I had seen a lot of bad reviews about every kind of Astro lately, strangely it is only xbox that it affects and from what I understand they have chosen to ignore the issue and play dumb even with the forums and reddit exploding on the same issues. So that's not very good. I have upgraded to an A50 3rd Gen to give that a shot, seems to work better than the other models but still has that muffled sound to an extent. I only recommend for the sound quality, I do not recommend for the microphone if you need to communicate affectively at every turn

Decent Headset!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this Astro A20 headset, because I am looking to get the Xbox Seires X some time soon. And its nice to know that they will work with that. I also got it because I wanted to have a better gaming experience and these sure do deliver. For the price they're worth it. But in my personal opinion they shouldn't be no more than $100. They have decent wireless range and they have never disconnected yet on me, but the audio on some occasions cuts out a little here and there, but It not that big of a deal. At least they do connect unlike the SteelSeires Artics X9s that are designed for xbox, but can't connect to it.

Great Headset
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this headset as I do not game enough to justify the Astro A50’s. I tried the Rig 800 and a Hyper X wired set and these are by far the best sounding. I love the sound stage they have and they don’t distort in any way like the rigs.

Too Quiet
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I can barely tell that the bass is decent because these things are set to volume 100 and sound is barely leaking out. I downloaded the Astro software, but that's just an equalizer I guess. I've spent too much time trying to mess with settings in the Astro software and Windows for first-time setup already, without a resolution so far. Going to try to get a hold of customer service or YouTube first to see if they have any fixes, but I feel like I should just be able to plug and play rather than mess around. These are comfortable and light, and I otherwise would like them if they functioned properly. I don't know how people wear these to places with a lot of noise, though. I should have gotten some Krakens or something.

Just ok
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy plug and play headset but I’ve also experienced some connection issues with suddenly losing sound or voice but a simple unplug and replug in solves the issue but it is annoying. As someone who games for hours at a time and wears glasses this headset can get pretty uncomfortable; the top band can be irritating after a while and the ear cups are fairly tight. I wish there were better options to prioritize party chat over game volume.

Astro A10 Minus the Quality and Wire
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got these based on my brother's A10 headset which is similar but wired. Those were really nice all around, highly recommend. These however were nothing of the sort. Pros - They look cool. Cons - Rubber headband, which constantly tugs at the top of my hair. Ended up sewing cloth around it to cover it from pulling at my hair. Sound quality is terrible. Feels like incredibly compressed audio is getting sent to the headphones. Discerning foot steps and other things are nearly impossible. Audio cuts out. Having my phone anywhere near the transmitter causes it to cut out if I receive a notification on my phone. If the Xbox slows down during game-play, the audio cuts out. If I'm in a party and a person talks the audio cuts out. The buttons to control the sound make sense on paper but in actual use are frustrating to use. There is a volume rocker which controls the overall volume, and there are two buttons to either increase gameplay volume or to increase chat volume. As it has no indications on screen what the levels are, properly setting these are a hassle not worth going through. The ON/OFF LED is only two colors, RED and ORANGE. Red means on and when you plug a cable into it, Orange means it is charging. Once it reaches full battery, the LED changes to Red, which is confusing as to whether it stops charging and then is thus losing battery, since it is on ALWAYS when plugged in. When unplugging the headphones from the USB it remains on. A third GREEN LED would have been nice to show the full battery and for it to be able to be charging and off at the same time. My PS4 wireless headphones run off only a USB dongle while this requires a little device to be plugged in with a USB cable and a Digital Audio cable. Not a huge issue since it is probably Microsofts fault, but I would at least assume since the device broadcasting the signal is such a large piece that it would have decent range. My PlayStation headset running off the dongle laps the A20 in terms of signal distance. I can barely take a couple steps away from the transmitter before the audio cuts out. The Cups on each ear look as though they are supported on a hinge that can rotate to your ear, but the actual travel is incredibly limited. It could be an all solid construction and there would be no comfort difference. I updated the firmware because I thought maybe they could be improved, as the low sound quality and cutting out is my main complaint. No new updates available. I continually check to maybe one day see an improvement on these headphones.

Absolute garbage; would not recommend
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The sound quality is great, when they actually work. I've had this headset for around a month and it cuts out so often. I often have extended periods of time where it cuts out every 5-10 seconds, and it is absolutely rage inducing. These headphones make me not want to play Xbox when they're acting up. I would give zero stars if I could.

Do not get this headset.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I am on my second hesdset from astro after ny first headset was causing my controller to randomly disconnect from the xbox. After extensive testing and now I have a new xbox the issue is still persisting with rhe headset as long as the transmittter box is connected. I dont even have to be using the headset for it to cause issues. This makes playing games almost impossible. I am currently awaiting a response from astro gaming on this issue and have requested a refund as seeing this is now the second headset I have gotten after getting the first one replaced and the issue persisting across multiple consoles/controllers.
