The headband is so uncomfortable, you can feel the headset on your head pressing from the top, the ear cops are very comfy but there is no padding or nothing on the head band just rubber material.

The design of the gen2 A20 is pretty nice, with it's flexible shell, adjustable head straps, and drop down mic. The head strap has ample cushion under it, making it feel virtually unnoticeable.  The mic is slightly bendable, to be able to move it closer, or further away from your mouth. When the mic is completely turned up, it activates the mute function. The mic only needs to be turned slightly downward to unmute the headset, leaving you more option in positioning the mic during use. The A20 headset is surround sound capable including Dolby Atmos and windows Sonic 3D spatial audio.Which version of surround sound used, will be depicted by the console or device the headset is connected to. The surround sound is actually very precise and easy to distinguish distance and direction in games. I used all three of the preset EQ modes and ended up sticking with the first mode, the "Astro" preset. It seemed to be the best at detecting incoming enemies. All the sounds were very clear, and realistic. I really appreciate how Astro made this setting by removing overwhelming loud sounds which become annoying over long periods of time , and kept the mid range audio to make everything still very distinguishable. The 40 mm driver specs: Sensitivity: 100 dB SPL 1kHz @ 1mW Nominal impedance: 32 Ohm Total harmonic distortion: < 3% (20 Hz - 10 kHz)   Astro pre-set EQ modes: ASTRO Best mode for all gamers – Audio V2 provides a neutral, smooth sound and has an extended frequency range for detailed, true-to-life soundscapes. It exists of non-fatiguing highs, clear mids and distortion-free bass creating well balanced audio overall. STUDIO For music and movies. Neutral for accuracy across a range of media usages. PRO Ideal for streamers and pro gamers. Tuned towards mids and highs for precise details. Optimizes surround sound performance with lower bass levels, to keep everything clear. I really like how the ear cuffs are made of a very porous material, so that your ears can keep ventilated, which not only keeps them cooler, but also reduces the audio impact that some of the rubber ear cuffs create, as they trap all the air and sound in, to only vent in your ear. Not only does that hurt my ears, it makes for a very uncomfortable experience overall, in which I can only wear those types of headsets for very short periods. To continue with the idea of comfort,  Astro even made the headset itself out of a lightweight yet durable plastic. The headset weighs less than a pound, at about 11 ounces, and is very comfortable to wear all day. The ear cuffs are so soft, they are even comfortable while wearing glasses.  The A20 Gen 2 also has a 15hour battery life, which actually makes it possible to game all day. If left unattended, the headset will auto shut off in 10 minutes. And yes, the headset can be charged and used at the same time. It typically takes between 3 to 5 hours to charge.   The power button, and EQ button are on the back of the right ear cuff, above the volume dial. Everything is nicely spaced, making it easier to distinguish between the buttons. Directly above and below the volume dial are the chat mixer buttons to adjust the volumes between game audio and chat audio, however please keep in mind that the PS4 only supports this option through an optical audio port. Seeing as this headset is wireless, and has no way to connect to an optical cable, that feature is not usable on the PS4. If you press the buttons, while connected to the PS4, they will just work kind of like the master volume control dial, effecting chat and game audio, at the same time. -- So now you might be wondering why these buttons are even on this headset, well it's because of the PC and Xbox. Both of these can take advantage of this feature. Which kind of leads me to the next best thing about this headset. This headset as you know can be used with any PC, but for an additional twenty dollars, you can buy a Xbox dongle/adapter. If you actually have a PS4 and Xbox One, this is a great feature, to seamlessly be able to use the headset on both systems. Just plug in the correct USB dongle. and you are good to go.  This headset can also connect to the PS5(with included dongle), and Xbox series X(with the optional Xbox dongle) Because this headset uses a 2.4ghz signal to connect with, it has a range of 49ft. So, I could see you ending up accidentally being connected to the wrong console, if you leave all the dongles connected at the same time. The almost 50ft range is very impressive, I walked all the way through my house, and was able to stay connected to my console the whole time, which is more than I can say about my controller.  Astro's command center software for the PC is supposed to be able to be used to update the headset as well as tune every input and output parameter including mic level adjustments. Create and save your own EQ modes and customize input/output levels, adjust Noise Gate, Sidetone, and create & share custom EQ presets. However at the time of writing this, I was unable to connect to the command center app with my headset, I tried 2 different computers with failed attempts. Astro's webpage for the A20 Gen 2 does list the command center app., and even links to the download page, but the software just does not recognize the new headset yet. From reading the descriptions on both of the command center apps, neither of them say they are specifically compatible with the Gen 2 version of the A20. So, hopefully they will fix this issue, because it would be nice to adjust some of the settings on the headset. Just as a side note, the headset still connects as a plug and play device with Windows 10 PCs. You just have to set the USB adapter/dongle to "PC" mode, by pressing the small black button on the adapter/dongle. When pressed the blue light will turn white. The white light is for "PC" mode, and the blue light is for the "PS4" mode. The headset works great on PCs and you can still switch between the 3 preset EQ modes.  Overall this headset is really a great wireless option for ALL your gaming needs, I was genuinely impressed with it's comfort and audio quality!

The Astro A20 v2 makes it easy to have 1 wireless headset for all gaming systems. What’s new with the version 2 update is that there’s no more wireless receiver that needs to be hooked up through an optical cable. Instead you simply plug in the USB receiver stick, push the button for either PS4 or PC mode, and that’s it you’re connected! No cables or anything to mess with, it makes going back and forth between my PS4 and PC super easy. If you want one that works with the Xbox One or even the next gen systems, all you need is to get another USB receiver for that platform and it should be a simple plug and play setup. It’s great being able to have 1 headset for all systems and saves a bunch of money at that. I believe additional USB receivers are only $20, so not a bank breaker at all if you need another. What's also great about having a plug and play USB receiver for each platform is that it allows the A20 to truly be wireless. No wires needed to connect the headset to the controller for chat audio or anything. SOUND As for the sound, there’s 3 preset EQ settings to choose from, however I couldn’t find anything that said which is which. Through a lot of testing, I think the 1st is Astro (gaming oriented), 2nd amplifies mids and highs, and 3rd amplifies the bass. You’ll know which setting you’re on by the little audible pulses after changing each EQ preset. Unlike the older A20, I wasn’t able to connect it to the Astro Command Center, so I don’t know if there’s a way to customize the EQ settings at all, but the website gives the impression that it should connect. I’ll have to try again later, but I already like the Astro setting for gaming and I find the 3rd EQ setting to be good for movies. This is my first Astro headset, but I know they’re renowned for their gaming sound quality and I can see why. With the Astro EQ setting, you can hear the details crisp and clear with good left and right imaging. On the initial setup on my PS4, there was a weird audible echo, but then I noticed I needed to do a system update. I don’t know if that update was needed before plugging the A20 USB receiver in, but after running the update the echo was gone and the audio was on point. I had no such issues connecting to my Windows10 PC, that was pretty much just plug and play from the start. DESIGN The ear cushions are super soft and covered in cloth for breathability. They’re a bit large too so they should easily accommodate even the biggest ears without issue and are truly comfortable even after hours of wearing them. I like how the microphone stays attached and automatically mutes when you flip it up. I have a bunch of other headsets with detachable mics that I’m always worried about losing when I want the mic out of the way, so this is a bit of a revelation for me. The mic sound quality is good, it’s clear, but kind of run of the mill. No voice filters or masking, but as long as your team can hear you loud and clear that’s all that really matters. Aesthetically, the white and blue colorway has a fun look and is specific for the PS4 bundle, but if you prefer the darker one for the Xbox you can use that too. The only difference is the wireless USB receiver, so again, it’s great not being stuck to one gaming platform. Build quality wise it’s mostly plastic, but on par with most gaming headsets. At this price point, I was honestly expecting something a bit more substantial, but I guess that’s what the A50 is for. OVERALL If you’re looking for 1 headset to use for multiple gaming systems, definitely give the Astro A20 v2 a look. PS4, PC, Xbox One, PS5, Xbox Series X, the new A20 will have you covered. The new USB receiver makes setup a breeze and while it’s not geared for music, the audio is excellent for gaming.

This headset is not worth the price point. Sound quality is mediocre, mic is decent but the app for configuring your headset is terrible! The reason I returned this headset was because the quality was terrible compared to Razer ultimate, and it doesn’t allow you to plug into the controller if the headset battery dies. Who wants a headset that can’t function if the battery dies. Not worth the money!

This Astro A20 (Gen 2) Wireless Stereo Gaming Headset was packaged well, and even the inside of the product box, was decorated with gaming graphics. Pretty cool, actually. My first impression upon taking the headset out of the box, however, was that it looked, and felt, “cheap.” But first impressions aren’t always accurate. A big ‘Pro’ for me with regards to this headset was that I will be able to use it for gaming on both my PS4 console, and laptop. Connecting the headset is literally ‘plug and play’ using the USB wireless transmitter. And the devices do the rest. All I really needed to do was go into my settings and make sure everything looked right. Voice chat was fine, nothing extraordinary there. No noticeable delay. Basic quality. Did the job. Surprisingly, the sound which came through the headset was full and clear. I could hear the deep bass notes; ambient and environmental sounds were rich and vibrant, all of which helped immerse me in the game. The earcups are soft, and didn’t seem to cause my ears to get hot even after having them on for about 2 hours. Their spongy foam is covered in a jersey type material. The earcups don’t swivel for laying flat to store or transport, but that didn’t matter to me as I’ll only be using them at home. The cushion on the ‘headband’ was adequate. Loved the extra long, highly flexible boom microphone ‘arm.’ I’m not bothered it’s not retractable. It’s one of my favorite features on this headset. And you just flip the mic up to mute. The control buttons on the sides of the earcups are a bit small, but not really an issue. The light blue roller which controls the volume, is sorta ‘cheap’ though. Also ... I love, love, love the way these look, the color scheme! I’m partial to white electronics. So much of everything you see is basic black. It’s nice to have something different once in a while. This Astro A20 looks damned cool! I did test out the range of this gaming headset, and I’d say the 50-foot wireless range they claim, is pretty spot on. But the battery life seemed lacking to me, coming in at less than 15 hours, as stated. As far as the 3 different EQ audio presets, ... I could notice a slight variation, but nothing that blew my socks off. The only real ‘Con’ for me, (other than the various less than great features I’ve mentioned), was the cost. I think for the quality, and what this Astro A20 (Gen 2) Wireless Stereo Gaming Headset is designed for, to me ... it’s a tad pricey. Still a decent gaming headset. Maybe snag it when it goes on sale.

Astro gaming A20s are simply amazing. Not only they last a while with gaming on battery life but they sound amazing on PS4. I was getting the adverted 15 hours of battery life which for me is insane. Best part here is that there while the design is basic with no RGB LEDs this helps with putting the battery to other things that matter like long lasting sound and longer range. Design: The A20s is the same as last year with its box-like shape. Not much change here and it’s either you hate it or love it but I enjoy the look and feel. Blue, White, and Black which is the same colors as the PlayStation 5. It serves its purpose in my opinion but other manufacturers have started using RGBs on PC headphones. Does this matter? No but I’m just pointing out Astro should put out another “Pro” line at-lease for those more out of the design or to catch up others. I know having RGBs would hit battery life so in that case the the A20s is a total win here. There is a Flip-to-mute mic which comes in handy when you need to mute yourself on the fly. Comes with a USB dongle for you to use for your PC or your PS4/PS5. There is also Volume controls on the headset itself which makes it easy to turn up and down. The headset fits naturally on top of the head, lightweight and comfortable enough to wear hours at a time. The cushions are really soft and flexible which feels nice on the ears. There is really no fatigue hours into gameplay chatting. Sound: They sound great, you can have greater control with EQ settings and the presets. But overall they sound nice with a clear amount of bass. The distortion is non existent, with a nice great sounding mids. Range is also wide ranging around the house allowing me to go between rooms and still use the headset. I personally have stepped out on the balcony and into the backyard. There is an optional USB transmitter you can buy if you own a Xbox Series X\S so you can use these headphones on that console as well. Disclaimer: I was unable to test Xbox Series X/S and PS5. Obviously these consoles are not out yet at the time of this review, A20s claim to work on these systems. Overall: Astro A20 are a much more overall improved over the old A20s. They look great and last a while PS4 and PC so far. They are lightweight and feel nice on top of the head. Great wireless headphones.

I got these a while back but waited to write my review until the PS5 came out since the box said it supports it. Well I picked up the PS5 on launch day and found out the headset works just as well on the PS5 as they do with the PS4. Game audio and chat are directed to the headphones and you can control the volume with the dial on the headset itself. Even the new mute button on the PS5’s DualSense controller works! On first glance these over-the-ear cans do not appear to be as premium of a build as some of the other numerous Logitech headsets that I have. And to be fair, they are not. I’m pretty sure if these were left on the floor and I accidentally stepped on them they’d be done for. However, once you put them on you quickly forget about all of this. They are designed mostly out of plastic to be inexpensive and extremely lightweight. To be honest, they are as comfortable or maybe more so than my headsets that are double or even triple the cost. The wireless sound is great, way better than a Bluetooth headset, and the headphones support 3D audio from the PS5. A very good example of this is the “SSD” world in Astro’s Playroom, a free PS5 showcase game that coincidentally has the same name as the headset. At the beginning of the level, there are a lot of fast-moving ships that whiz past you on the screen and I was able to tell exactly where the ships were just by the spatial audio effects. The mic is good, more than adequate for the many Fortnite matches I played but not something I’d probably want to use for a work conference call. If you push the mic up and out of the way the headset will automatically mute. Although the next generation of gaming is upon us, we still don’t have cross-compatibility between accessories on the PSx and Xbox platforms. However, one thing you do get with the A20 is the ability to simply buy the USB dongle for the other platform instead of an entirely new headset. This is a welcome feature for those who have multiple consoles. Pros Comfortable Works with PS5, PS4, and PC Long-range wireless Xbox compatible (dongle sold separately) Lightweight 40mm Drivers USB-C Cons Build Quality Overall, the Astro A20 Gen2 is an excellent entry-level headset for a PS4, PS5 or PC player.
