Pro: -Lightweight -Good audio -Battery life Con: -Few adjustments -Mic is a little quiet and muffled -Feels plasticy and cheap Build and Comfort These are one of the lightest headsets I have, but the all plastic build is hollow and makes it feel cheap even though it’s overall solid with no flex. The headband is soft rubber, which I actually prefer to the fabric foam, but there’s a notch cutout in the middle with sharp corners which press down on your head causing some discomfort. The clapping force is very light and I had no issue wearing them for a long session. The foam padding is fine, but it’s not very dense and I wonder how long they’ll last. There’s practically no adjustments other than vertical adjustment and a very slight pivot for the cups. The mic is flexible, stays in place, and is the right length. Audio The audio is overall good. The high and mids are clear and the bass has a good amount of boost to it. Subtle noises like footsteps are distinct and easy to discern directions from. There’s three EQ presets, balanced, tremble boost, and bass boost. I find them all alright, but the bass boost lowers the other sounds a bit too much. Mic The mic is ok for voice chat, but it’s too quiet and muffled, yet is sensitive enough to clearly pick up my breathing. Even with the mic right next to my mouth, it still sounds like I’m speaking with my mouth covered. Battery Battery life is great. I can play for at least 10 hours on a charge. PC I did a quick test on the PC, and it worked right away. You do have to click the button on the receiver to switch modes. The mic is still quiet on the PC as well. If you’re looking for an entry level wireless headset, I think these are really good. It’s light and mostly comfortable to wear for a long time, with the exception being the sharp angle on the band. The adjustment is limited, but it gets the job done. The audio is good with the games that I’ve tried them with and the battery should last you through most of the day. The mic isn’t great, being somewhat quiet and muffled, but good enough for voice chats.

As soon as you open the headset packaging, the first impression is that its massive, but does not feel premium. The touch has a cheap plastic feel to it. But that also plays into it being light despite its size, making it so easy to wear for long periods of time. The earcups again have that cheap feeling cloth to touch, but they are super comfortable. Overall, this is the best example of not judging a book by its cover. Once you wear them, you don't care how premium they look or feel, you just don't feel them at all, which is the best thing you can say about headphones you have to wear for long. Beyond this, the setup was effortless on the PS4, essentially there is no setup, its plug and play with the dongle. The audio quality is good but I have always had an issue with all PS4 headphones - the max volume is just not high enough. But I can't fault these headphones for it. During party chats, my friends could hear my crisply without any audio feedback, and the flip to mute feature works like a charm. And every item I review nowadays, gets a plus just if it has a USB C charging port. And this one does as well.

The A20 wireless has excellent audio quality and offers a comfortable, yet bulky design. For gaming I don't take any stars off for bulky, loud designs as its kind of the norm for gaming hardware, whether console or PC gaming. I got good feedback that the mic quality was improved on this headset over my previous wired model, and the headphone volume and clarity is great. The headset is adjustable to a wide variety of sizes, and fit my large head well. This headset seems to be one of the better I've used. I don't mess around with virtual surround settings too much nor have I dealt with many of the other wireless high end headset features, but if you're looking for good stereo quality and great microphone/chat functionality, this is your headset!

Wireless works great and sound is crisp and clear. The microphone is solid and you won’t have people asking to repeat yourself. The cushions around the speakers are amazing and the felt is so soft! I feel like I can wear for a few hours with no trouble! Game play sounded great and amazing. You can crank the volume up high which I like when I needed it. I actually prefer this brand over others. My negatives: the square top head looks little weird. I don’t like the controls on my right side I like them on my left side. I keep reaching for the wrong side as all my other headsets have always had all the buttons and dials on the left. The wireless fob is a little long as it sticks out the back of my PS4 which might be troublesome if you have a tight space for you system.

I’m a long time gamer that has been using a wired Razer headset on my PS4 for some time now. I love my Razer headset, but I don’t know about PS5 compatibility and I’m finally ready for a wireless headset. IN THE BOX Pretty simple, the headset itself, a USB-C charging cable and the USB transmitter. As you can tell on the description, this headset works for both PS4/PS5 and PC. I believe if you purchase a separate USB adapter the headset will also work on the Xbox ecosystem. USE I first wanted to make sure I had a full charge. I plugged it in and after a couple of hours, the orange light indicating it was charging was still on. I don’t know how empty the battery was, but it seemed to take a while. This isn’t a big deal so long as you plan on charging your headset accordingly. When I’m playing video games by myself, I’m enjoying the full splendor of surround sound. But when I’m gaming with friends, I use my headset. I found the headset surprisingly easy to set up. You simply plug the USB adapter (about the size of a long USB thumb drive) into your PS4, hold the power button, and once it turns on, you’re up and running. The microphone is muted while in the “up” position and all you do is swing it down and it’s activated. Pretty easy and I like it being out of the way when you don’t need it. COMFORT/BUILD QUALITY This is all plastic but it’s well built. You can adjust the height to accommodate those with larger heads (me) and it fit just fine. I was a little curious about the decision with foam ear cup pads. I was used to the Razer and it’s leather-ish feel. But it didn’t bother me at all. I found the cups to surround my ears completely. I generally don’t game for longer than a 2-3 hour stretch and I found this headset to be very comfortable. I wouldn’t say that they feel like you’re not wearing them, but their light and comfy and didn’t bother me in the least. I can’t really speak for longer gaming sessions. I should also mention they didn’t make my ears hot. SOUND QUALITY They were great. The specs are impressive sounding, but all you need to know is that they are completely immersive and offer surround sound. For example, playing Call of Duty or Red Dead, you can hear the sounds coming from all sides, even behind you. I just thought the sound was impressive. Mic feedback was a little different. My friends could tell that my voice sounded different than my Razer headset (sound felt teeny to them) but they could understand me just fine. This obviously isn’t a big deal to me, so long as they hear me I’m fine. But I was a little disappointed this Astro set didn’t provide the same mic pickup quality as my Razer headset. GRIPE My big gripe with this headset is the lack of sidetone. I feel I might be in the minority here, but when talking with my friends, I like to hear myself talk in the headset. It just feels odd to talk and not really hear myself, I can’t gauge how loud I’m talking. If you don’t care about sidetone, or never used a headset with it, this may not matter. I wouldn’t say it was a dealbreaker, but I was hoping this headset had it. There’s an option to turn sidetone off/on within the PS4 menus, but that was disabled which indicates to me it doesn’t have it. VALUE I have to mention the value proposition. As a $120 headset, for its features and sound quality, it’s easy to recommend. But what makes it even better is that you can buy a separate Xbox USB adapter to use for Xbox. This is a big plus for those that game on both platforms. Not to mention PC gaming. While I don’t play online (and don’t talk) when PC gaming I do where headphones to keep audio down and it’s nice to be able to use the same headset. I can put aside my minor gripe of lack of sidetone knowing that I can use this headset for PC/PS4/Xbox for $120 plus the cost of a separate $20 adapter. So kudos to Astro for making one headset to rule them all. CONCLUSION This is a great sounding and comfortable headset. I will be purchasing a PS5 and am excited to have a headset that will work across all platforms. I don’t know if I will incorporate all the fancy sound tech in the PS5, but until I hear it I don't know what I’m missing and having cross-platform capabilities is the best feature here.

Astro Gaming - A20 Wireless Stereo Gaming Headset Gen 2 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC and Mac - White/Blue Durable with excellent battery life… This headset is used only on a PC desktop and laptop connected with the USB transmitter. I always like to talk about how comfortable a headset is, since sound quality and style and so forth are not so important if the headset doesn’t fit well or gets tiring after a few hours. In that respect, the Astro Gaming is very light on the head, and the ear cups are very soft with fabric covering. The ear cups stay comfortable and don’t get hot or sweaty when using the headset for hours at a time. The adjustments for head side are done by sliding the ear cup arms up and down – which can be done independently for both left and right sides. The form fitting all along the headband is not quite even, at least for my head, and there was more pressure on top of my head at the top of the headband than I have felt from other headsets. This isn’t a deal breaker, but after having these on for several hours, I do start to notice the pressure on top of my head. I have tried several adjustments and this seems to be the way things are. The pressure is not uncomfortable, but is noticeable. Microphone is OK – and has a long and flexible stem to bring the mic as close to your mouth as you want. You can put the mic all the way “up” and that will mute the mic if needed. Sound for me is a little on the low side – full volume is not “too much” and sometimes could use a little more volume. What I mean is that I can turn the headphones up “all the way” and my laptop up “all the way” and still wish I could get a little more volume. This may have more to do with my laptop than the headphones, as desktop volume is OK – but lower volume range is noticeable on my laptop compared to other headsets in the same price range. The volume control for sound and microphone use the same volume wheel - with a rocker to switch the control from earphone to microphone. This takes some getting used to, although some may prefer having less wheels to fiddle with. There are also a few should pre-sets that can be quickly changed if you don't want to use your computer sound controls to customize the levels. Automatic cut-off is pretty quick – as long as you have some sound coming in you are OK, but if you have the headphones on, but are not actively listening, they will cut off after a few minutes. This is OK and certainly saves on battery discharge, the long run-time for each charge takes away much of the concern about running out of juice > and if there are situations where it is quiet for a while, but you need to be able to hear when sound resumes, it would be nice to be able to disable the “auto off” feature if desired to avoid having to hit the power button to re-start the headset. Not a deal breaker, just a suggestion. Style of the headset is definitely a gaming appearance with the contrasting colors and streamlined appearance. Construction seems rugged, and I don’t see any weak spots where the ear cups connect to the headset that might crack or break. The connection system is more of a “rail” than a hinge or swivel, and that appears to be a solid system that can stand some stretching and twisting. I’m not concerned about and weak spots in the construction. Battery life is exceptional – I can’t really say how long the battery will last on a charge, as I have used the headphones for “all day” connection to both desktop and laptop for gaming, and videos, and general “YouTubing” and have not had the battery run out yet. I use them all day, then charge overnight. Overall a pretty good value for this price range. The sound is acceptable, microphone is clear and audible, comfortable for long periods of play, and the battery life is exceptional.

    Solid Performance, Comfortable Gaming Headset

The Astro Gaming - A20 Wireless Stereo Gaming Headset Gen 2 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC and Mac is a solid headset for your gaming needs. It works great with the PS4 as well as Mac and PC systems and should have no problems with the upcoming PS5. In reviewing this headset, I have some mixed feelings. In some areas, the headset does things very well, but in some other areas, I think it could improve a bit more. Setting up the headset to use with the PS4 was very easy. All I had to do was plug in the headset dongle into the USB port on the front of the PS4, power on the console and the headset, and I was ready to go. It is very easy to do. I even connected to a PC and Mac system and connectivity was just as easy. The dongle for this headset is bigger than some other dongles for headsets. This dongle comes out about 2-2.5 inches from the machine. Sticking out that far may not bother some, but it could be far enough to bump into accidentally. I mention this as something to be aware of. As for sound quality, the headset performs solidly. While this headset works great for gaming, I probably wouldn't use it for movies or music. Chat is great and clear although there is not a way on the headset to change the mix between the game audio and change audio. Also with the chat, you don't really hear yourself which may bother some. Gameplay sound is good but I did notice some white noise at the higher volume settings. There are also multiple EQ presets but it still felt like the upper frequency ranges were missing something. As for comfort, this headset gets an A. I wear glasses and using on the ear headsets usually causes problems for me after a while. This headset is really comfortable with glasses. I wore the headset for hours without feeling any pain from my glasses. While the headset fits securely, the earmuffs cushioning is soft enough to allow the ear pieces of the glasses to stay in place without discomfort. Perhaps my biggest concern with this headset is the durability. The headset is well built and looks very stylish. But the material is not thick and rigid. I keep wondering if I accidentally sat on the headset or bumped it if it would break. I may just be paranoid about this, but the plastic material is easily twisted. The materials are not thick either. This may be a trade off. Thicker materials would cause the headset to be heavier which could cause a gamer to become fatigued. But I just got the feeling that I could break the headset. In the end I really like this headset. The plusses far outweigh the minuses in my opinion. With the PS5 coming out soon, this should work very well for people looking to get a new headset for gaming. With the color design of the PS5, it should match nicely too. I would definitely recommend this headset to a friend.

I have the Astro A40s which is a really good headset. As good as they are, I really don't like wired headsets all that much so these A20's are the wireless, middle brother to the A40's. Sound is spot on as is the chat volume. The chat/volume slider is pretty similar to any other headset so just takes a sec to fine tune that piece. The controls for the headset are on the right ear which, odd as it sounds, takes a little while getting used to. Pretty much all the wireless headsets I've had, the controls were always on the left side so I'm used to that. Controls are pretty simple however the buttons click with nice responsive feedback. The headset charges via USB-C and the headset comes with a short charging cable. The fit of the headset is a bit off for me. The earcups, called me old fashioned, I prefer them to be leather or pleather. The microfiber fabric on these headsets is comfortable however it itches my ears if I play for a long time. The headband is a bit of an issue for me and those folks with big heads. Even with the earcups extended all the way, the headset feels tight on me. I wear a 7 3/8 fitted hat and this headset isn't tailored for those with large noggins. That said, it's a tight but comfortable feel. However, for long periods of time, it starts to get a bit itchy/uncomfortable for me. Overall, it's a quality headset. Sound is good, fit is good and battery life seems to be pretty good or on par with any other wireless headset.
