Love the headset! If you are going to play on Xbox you need to connect mixer to laptop and update firmware before using.

Does Not work right out of the box. I had to purchase a separate piece from Astro in order to get it working.

I purchased the a40s with the mix amp with high hopes. Unfortunately, their control center will not download the firmware and it’s a KNOWN issue. Read the reviews on the control center, no one can get the download. They slap an xbox compatible sticker on the box but it doesn’t come with the proper downloads installed. We called customer service over two days and spent hours on the phone with them. They could only open a ticket and tell us we’d hear from them in 48 hours. A week later we got an email that just said they closed our ticket. Literally nothing changed or resolved. Avoid this headset and get something that won’t waste your time. Zero stars.

Xbox doesn’t have an update to get the box to control the volume. Headphones are fine just to plug up to the controller and are comfortable. But for $200 you can get a good wireless pair for half the price.

Needs driver update, might need to look on Reddit personally where I had to. Amazing after update.

Got these for Christmas for the new Xbox Series X. Right away in order to use them for the Xbox a firmware is required so I downloaded the Astro Command Center to get the firmware. After 6-8 hrs of trying to get the firmware to download and trying to manually download the firmware I've been unsuccessful. I've done several troubleshoots with different usb cables and different usb ports but nothing. Reading up different websites I'm not the only one having this issue as many people is having this issue. The company is ignoring complaints. With this type of attitude from the company it will not last long.

Horrible customer support. Check out their sub on Reddit. You will get a response maybe in 1-2 months if your lucky then not hear from them again. The product quality is abysmal. As a company they just don’t care. Absolute rip off. Sound quality is terrible. Build quality is awful. Everything about them is trash. Don’t waste your money.

The Astro Gaming - A40 TR Wired Stereo Gaming Headset (Gen 3) is ahead of the curve and probably one of the best gaming headsets on the market today. It’s loaded with a ton of features that many headsets already have and some that most don’t. Digital Daisy Chain, 3D Audio Ready, Game/Voice Balance, Swappable/Customizable Parts are just some of them. The design is impressive, sleak and the headset is very comfortable to wear for long periods of time. It’s also customizable, tags can be changed to different logos, colors can also be changed with swappable parts as well, via a A40 TR mod kit. The ear cups are magnetized and can be swapped out as well. Where this headset really shines is in the speakers and MixAmp Pro TR device. The speakers are the best sound, highs, lows. When listening to footsteps or hearing shell casings drop to the ground after firing a weapon, it’s all there. Total immersion in the game. Where the MixAmp Pro comes in, you can balance or adjust the amount of game sound or chat sound to your liking using the dial on the right. The dial on the left is for total volume control. This headset is the loudest I have experienced, since you can control the sound through the MixAmp Pro and not software on the console or PC. The sound control is unmatched because of the dial, you can adjust it with precise granularity. There are headsets out there with controls for sound on the headset themselves but these don’t even compare to the MixAmp Pro. Along with the dials, there is a built in equalizer with four settings, ASTRO, Balanced, Flat 4 and Tournament. Each of these offer unmatched sound equalization for anyone’s liking. If you happen not to like these, they can also be tweaked using the Astro Command Center. Simply install the software and connect the MixAmp Pro to your PC. The software will detect it and you can edit, adjust and save the configuration to your headset. You can also use this software to update the firmware on the MixAmp Pro, which is also recommended. My only caveat, there is no power button. You’ll need to unplug the USB connection from the console or PC to turn off the MixAmp Pro. On the console, I set to power off USB when the console is off but this did not turn off the MixAmp Pro. Hopefully this can be adjusted in a firmware update in lieu of a power button. This should not deter you from this headset though. If you are a gamer, pro level or not, this is the headset to have. It has a base price of $250 but worth every single penny.
