Bought this headset the mix amp just doesn’t work I’ve tried updating it on the command center couldn’t get the update to show up

This headset was a gift for my brother who is a streamer/content creator. He said the are great. Comfortable, sound quality is flawless, and sturdy. The mix amp is the icing on the cake.

I can’t get the headset to work for some reason I can’t hear anything.

A LITTLE HISTORY: Ok first and foremost I did own both the older version of Astro a40 and Astro a50, and just recently purchased the steelseries Arctis Pro with GameDAC, but I must say these new Astro a40 TR Pro with Mixamp is on a whole different level the the previous headsets with amp I just mentioned... COMFORT: Comparing it to the Steelseries Arctis Pro this the new GEN 4 of Astros feels better around the head, ( I have a big Round Head) so Astros feel better for long gaming sessions. SOUND QUALITY: This has to be the Apex of all "Gaming Headsets" of 2019, I wouldn't compare it to a true Studio grade Audiophile dedicated headphones but this for gaming with its Dolby Audio raises the bar of gaming headset audio quality , for its hefty price I would say its worth every dollar, It has custom Presets ( Astro, Natural Bass, Balanced ,Tournament) MIXAMP: This is the other HALF of the headset itself without this the cans are just like other headsets, this is what fuels the headsets NEW and IMPROVED 2019 Audio V2. You can choose to use their Dolby Audio 7.1 or Choose the Audio Passthrough so you could Use Dolby Atmos if you choose to! I use both but if a game supports Dolby atmos then it is clearly the better choice for the positional advantage when playing Battleroyal games! CUSTOMIZABILITY: LIke I said the main selling point of this headset are the 3 MAJOR KEYS of me pulling the trigger in making the purchase. 1. You can buy the MODKIT for this one which is Sold separately on their website, which is PLEATHER which nice stitching on it, It is Noise isolation just like how the A50's were. Basically you can have the BEST OF BOTH WORLDS , If you want OPEN BACK for a more accurate audio positioning then use it, If you want a CLOSED BACK then use the MODKIT you will have a richer BASS with the modkit. 2. Using different types of Surround Sound Softwares, you can use the built in Dolby Audio using the mixamp, or a passthrough and you can use both DOLBY ATMOS or Windows Sonic. 3. You can Remove the Microphone if you choose to if you use a standalone condenser mic, and make it look simple and cleaner. You can also order a CUSTOM LASER ETCHED Eartags of your choice, just go to their website and upload your own Design.

Spend $50 more and get the A50's. Love astros..these are crap

These are really nice with the flexibility of being able to use these with both my computer and my Xbox as I need to or switch to play different games. For the Xbox, setup is easy and the amp is easy to use. The thing I noticed when setting them up first thing was the build quality and the ability to mod the look of them. The fit is solid and the headband is super comfortable and I've been able to wear them for a good amount of time without them being uncomfortable. The amp provides a good deal of connectivity options with Optical and USB audio options. The amp not only helps give you more control over your audio but gives you more volume and better quality. Sound quality is great, with deep bass, balanced mids and highs. The positional audio works really well as well. The only thing I wish it had was customizable lighting but I wouldn't want to trade that for the quality. I would definitely say that if you plan to use this headset on your PC to be sure to download the software for the mix amp so you can customize it for pro-quality sound. Long story short, if you're looking for a pro level headset that you can customize that has good solid sound this one definitely fits perfectly. I'd absolutely recommend it if you don't have one for your gaming setup be it PC or your Xbox.

the mic stopped working after a week. this product was returned.

Wires inside the headset went bad afer 1 year. Headset was babied and stil broke.

These headphones sound great. The packaging was very meticulous and the included mix amp is pretty cool. These things are very customizable and the sound is great. They are very comfortable for all ear sizes. I was impressed with the details that were taken to make these. I have a new favorite pair of headphones.

They give my ears an experience similar to listening to a movie in an IMAX theater. I can differentiate amongst all the different sounds clearly. Viewing my computer or TV screen with the Astro Gaming - A40 TR Wired Stereo Gaming Headset for Xbox One, PC with MixAmp Pro TR Controller - Black on gives an experience of actually becoming absorbed into the game or video that I am watching. The large ear pads are extremely soft and cushiony. My ears fit inside the ear pads with no tightness or discomfort. They can be adjusted to fit tight or loose, depending on your preference. The MixAmp Pro TR control increases the volume immensely. The attachable microphone delivers clear and crisp audio. I can hear all aspects of my gaming experience more clearly with the Astro Gaming - A40 TR Wired Stereo Gaming Headset for Xbox One, PC with MixAmp Pro TR Controller - Black than any other headset that I previously used.

I have been pleasantly surprised with these headphones. At first i was not too familiar with the brand, but am now sold. To preface, my previous headphones, i thought were nice, but seemed to have almost too many features, not these. The headphones are comfortable and sturdy. The cords allotted are long enough for me to sit a normal amount of distance away without being tight too. The command center box is also sturdy, i have no thoughts that this will break. The box has two knobs, one to control part and game mix and one to control over all volume. These two sound mix radios are the only things that are important to me... all others are just too much. The only small issue i would report is that mic snap in mic seems to be a bit wobbly. Nevertheless, still a solid build. All in all a great mic with adequate room to control volume with a comfy fit. Worth picking up.

The new A40 headset solves the audio woes that plagued its predecessor; audio is now crystal clear at all times, both through the Dolby Headphone-enabled cans and both ends of the built-in Xbox Live chat headset. Drops are a thing of the past, and the headset can even be used pseudo-wirelessly by plugging them into your console controller. The sound takes a bit of a hit when doing so, but not in the quality sense. The sound remains crystal clear, but the positional nuance is lost because, without processing through the MixAmp Pro TR, you’re not getting surround audio. Instead, you get a stereo sound, and there’s a definite, audible difference.

These headsets are truly amazing ! I’ve had them for over four years and still going strong ! I would recommend to any true gamer that wants to hear pin point accurate sounds!

I have had these for almost 4 years and use them daily fornhours playing on my xbox series x and they are as good as they were on day one. I havent even had to buy new ear cuffs or replace the mic!

Astro A40 is a very nice online gaming addition. The controls and inputs on the amp box are great. The setup is especially when in a heated online match. The Dolby 7.1 goes well with 4k on my Xbox One X. And the included 2 year Atmos subscription is great if you don't already have it on your console. I am ready to incorporate a mod kit. This one is a no brainer. go check it out

Easy to pick up and great quality headset. no complaint with the pick up system. Easy and no problems

Provides good audio and like the ability to mix your audio. However after a while I had some of the screws start to come out. causing the headphone itself to fall off the mount.

This thing is fantastic. Built great and sounds great as well. It’s for Xbox but it also works on PC as well. I love that it has a thing for audio that can’t determine to mix game audio and voice chat. Inside the box it comes with an optical cable , usb to micro usb and a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable.
