Nice headset but not 100% compatible with series x|s. Bought these on sale a month or so prior to getting the series s console to find out no optical audio port so if you’re still playing on last generation consoles look no further there a good choice but not for next generation consoles.

The best headset I have ever owned! I bought the Astro A40 headset around 6 months ago and have used it every single day for calling friends, playing games, and listening to music on my Xbox and PC and the sound quality is amazing for both. I purchased the Mod Kit for the headset as well and have never had a complaint about anything regarding the setup. The microphone is wonderful and my teammates and friends have said nothing but good things about the quality. When used on the phone, the headset is also very good, providing deep bass and balanced treble-mid. The price is worth it as the headset will last me years to come. The BEST headset by far. Almost all of the bad reviews are from people who don't know what they are doing. They have many settings because it is a high quality product for many adjustments. Read people and you will see it can do everything you want.

The headset and mixer are quality products. The cable is a little too short. I purchased this headset to play battlefield on my Xbox series X. There are NO INSTRUCTIONS! There is NO SUPPORT chat or phone, only email. YouTube videos explain that you need to update firmware then download Atmos Surround Sound. I got the sound to work, BUT THE MIC DOES NOT WORK. I have hard/cold booted the Xbox, moved to different USBs, and made other changes. I called the phone number provided and was told that it is only for new orders. IT IS OFFENSIVE FOR A COMPANY TO HAVE A PHONE LINE TO GET YOUR MONEY BUT NOT HAVE A NUMBER TO SUPPORT YOUR CUSTOMERS!!! I emailed the company and gave them two more days to resolve the issue, or I will return the product. The sound is really great, but communicating with your team via the mic is important.

Let me start by saying I have owned an Astro Mixamp & Headset for 6 years and have always loved them, and have recommended them to dozens of friends/gamers online. Recently, I purchased their latest generation (gen 4) of mixamp/headset for my Xbox Series X, and ran into problem after problem with trying to get it to work. First off, the installation instructions in the packaging were extremely simple sounding - pretty much plug into Xbox and you're good to go. Sounded too good to be true...and it was. I quickly found out I was receiving no sound with the headset/mixamp plugged in as instructed. After about 20 minutes of trying on my Xbox, I resorted to online forums where I found out the mixamp's firmware needed to be updated - via the Astro Command Center (Astro's software for updating/adjusting settings). Not a big deal, except the instructions/paperwork that came with it mentioned nothing about this! After downloading their software, I plugged in my device and it immediately recognized it and gave the option to update the firmware. Sounded promising. However, this is where things went significantly downhill. Every time I tried updating, it would fail. No matter what combination of methods I tried, including: using different USB ports/cables, uninstalling/reinstalling Astro Command Center, downloading the firmware file/trying to update manually, switching it back and forth from 'Xbox/PC mode', etc - and attempted all previous steps on 3 different computers. I even ensured my firewall/security software was not blocking the update. This led me down a combined 4 hour rabbit hole on various platforms including Astro's website, Reddit, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter & more. Today (11/28/22) I tried calling their support center to be greeted with a 2 hour wait with no avail. So 4 hours research PLUS 2 hours of waiting on hold! I will now be returning it to Amazon and will NOT be using or recommending their products any longer. Such a waste of time, and I was so excited to use it after loving the previous model so much! I am sorry to say, that you have lost a customer today Astro...

On my way to return after just 2 days. Worked great the first day. Second day it said “cannot find microphone”. This is even though I could hear myself speaking through the microphone. Spent an hour trouble shooting and then gave up. Cannot recommend this product if it’s that expensive and still glitchy and unreliable.

Worst sound for the Xbox series X, since Microsoft eliminated the optical port on the Xbox series x the sound is just bad, very hard to balance game sound with chat sound, I don’t even know why Astro is even putting a optical port on these mix amps it’s a waste of money being the series x and PS5 consoles don’t have a optical port, they should be investing in designing a audio extractor that will be HDMI 2.1, the micro usb sound is just not the same it was a cheep fix and the sound is just bad

I recently just purchased these for ghe second time thinking it would be better. For some reason you can not update the headset on xbox and i tried ti plug it in just to see if there would be sound but there was not. These are a waste of money. I have the regular A 40s you can just plug right into the controller and works just fine.

Updating the headset will break them and make then unusable! Thousands of people are out a lot of money, there’s even talk of a class action law-suit because they won’t fix the problem with there software and update bugs. Mine have been paper weights on my desk for over 2 months now and no one, including Astro has an answer. I even went to Best Buy to tell them and see what I could do and got no help. Then told them they should take it off the shelves so no one else literally lights $300 on fire like I did. So, I wanted a nice headset, so my gf got these for me for my birthday. Sure, they look nice and the base station looks good, but don’t be fooled. They are a pain to set up, always have issues charging on the station, and then their own software literally destroys the programming in the headset and makes them unusable. When they work, they sound fine, nothing insane about them either way. These are Not worth the box they’re packaged in.
