Before I begin my review I would like to point out that the set I purchased from Best Buy (with extended warranty) is my second set of TR's. My rating is based on the second set (which is the current one I have) but I will touch up on my experience with the first set in hopes to help others make a well informed decision. My first set of TR's was purchased through Amazon on the week of release (October 2015). The comfort was fantastic but the sound was not. It sounded metallic and hollow with the Dolby enabled. Tried all sorts of things to make them sound good but nothing worked. Then one day the volume was extremely low even while maxxed out. I visited the Astro forum and turns out I was not the only one with issues with the TR's. The staff was as helpful as they could be but ultimately I was advised to send it for service. I decided to return it and get my money back. Electronics can be tricky and difficult at times and so I hadn't given up hope for the TR's just yet. Initial launches sometimes aren't the best time to purchase a product. A few days after Christmas of 2015 I decided to get them again but this time from my local Best Buy. This time around the story is not a negative one but rather a joyful and satisfied one. Just as before the comfort was definitely there but this time the audio was what anyone would expect it to be... phenomenal! Everything sounded natural and lively. I tested different games and everything was sounding great! Sound: As I've mentioned before, it's great! The only thing I'd like to point out is that (in my opinion) the base is not very strong. It's there but I'd like for it to be a little more pronounced. Comfort: Definitely one of the most comfortable headsets in the market. However, this area is affected by the "mod kits" that are available for it. I will leave a review on that as well. Microphone: Probably the best microphone on a gaming headset. Most headset either have no "sidetone" or "mic-monitoring" or they make your voice sound robotic to the other party. Not here. Your voice sounds natural and the sidetone makes party chat easy and enjoyable for everyone. EQ and other features: Probably the strongest selling point of this audio system is the customization allowed on it. Mod kits allow for physical change to the headset (affecting both sound and microphone quality for the better) and the with the use of the Astro Command Center (available for download via the Astro site) you can customize just about everything regarding sound on the Mixamp. EQ presets, microphone noise gate, sidetone and sensitivity and more. TL;DR Do not let the negativity on the internet keep you from giving this audio system a chance. They are a fantastic piece of audio equipment that will deliver some of the best audio quality out there complimented by it's comfort and customization.
