My husband loves his new headphones! He has had a set for about 10 years by the same company until our daughter sat on them. He picked the same brand because of that.

Good so far, until both screws that hold the ear piece came loose without my knowledge after a few months use and they are mysteriously gone and now my left ear piece barely hangs onto life

Bought for my fiancé. He says you can hear everything. Your voice is super clear and you can hear everything in a 360 degree view whether it be to side of you or behind you. You can hear footsteps and where they are coming from and has pretty amazing sound quality.

This is the best wireless gaming headset of all and its 100million times better then other brands i highly recommend it big time hands down.

If you are in a hurry, I'm going to put the TLDR version first and then explain my comments further down. Pros: - Solid build - Customizable sound profiles - Battery life much better than the rated 15hrs, I got about 21 - Compact base station with plug to charge other devices (like controllers) - Very comfortable earpads and headband - Extra USB charging port Neither Pro/Con: (Player Preference) - Tuned to the 'Boomy' end of the sound spectrum (good for some games and gamers, not so much for others), despite having equalizer control - A little short, I don't have a freakishly long head (but longer than most) and they are just barely surrounding my ears at the fullest extension. If you have a normal or smaller sized head, you will probably be fine Con: - Requires a PC to update the firmware. The firmware out of the box is wonky, need to update to the version that launched at the beginning of Aug 19. - Base Station needs a bit more weight to it, gets shoved around too easily by the headphones, or pulled by cables connecting to power/system - Sometimes seems difficult for the headset to properly hit the charging pins and doesn't charge correctly Full Pro Details: Solid build: The A50 headset is solidly built but not overly heavy so it feels like a quality set of headphones but doesn't feel like it is dragging your head down. Customizable Sound Profiles: The Astro Command Center lets you tweak up to three sound profiles saved to your base station. You can have more than that made but only three can be saved to the base station at a time and are selectable by the headphone. This is great if you like ultimate control over the sound in the games or even just want to slightly alter a stock profile. Long Battery Life: The box says 15+ hours of battery life, but that '+' is pretty generous considering that from the first full charge up to the time they conked out on me, was almost 22 hours in total. Now, ideally you would never push this limit because you would put them back on the base station to charge between sessions but depending on your setup (base station close to you, or closer to your TV/Console), this may not always be the case. At least you should have a couple of days charge for gaming. Comfortable: The stock earpads and headband cushion are very nice and comfortable and breathe well. You also have the option of purchasing a mod kit which will give you 'leather' pads for the headset as well. This would/should give you better sound isolation but will probably be hotter on your ears. Extra USB Charging Port: On the back of the base station is an additional USB port that you can use to plug in a charging cable for whatever you like but which I use for charging my Xbox controller. Now in my case, the base station is next to where I sit when playing games, if your base station it further away, this may or may not be of help. It allowed me to not have the USB cable running from the front of my Xbox across the room to my controller, which freed up that cable for me to use with the base station since the one included is only like three feet. I instead use the Astro cable for my controller, which works perfectly. Full 'Neutral' Details: 'Boomy' Sound Design: While you have the ability to dial in an equalizer setting to your liking, the A50s will always lean towards a bass-heavy or 'boomy' sound. This is partially because of the fact that these are closed backed headphones, which helps to accentuate the lower tones and helps prevent sound bleeding out and disturbing those around you. It is a pretty standard design choice nowadays but depending on your preferences and what type of game you are playing, this may be a con for you. If you play a game where you need to hear a lot of detailed sound (footsteps or indicator sounds), the bass signature on these may drown those out. Again, this isn't a fault of Astro, since a lot of gamers don't feel 'immersed' in their game unless they can feel the explosions all round them. Me personally, I tend to play quieter games or games that I need to hear subtle cues and I have had to dial down the low end of the EQ to make those stand out better. Size Skews Normal/Small: I don't have a long head but it is past 'normal' to the longer end of the range. I have had a ton of headphones (music & gaming) that fit me just fine but the Astro A50s lean more towards the normal or small head sizes. Probably a safe bet for Astro since I am a fully grown man (despite what my wife says), and most of their users are probably going be those with normal sized heads or adolescents. Con Details: PC Requirement: Being able to tweak sound signatures requires the Astro Command Center to be downloaded to a PC/Mac but if that was all that was required, you probably don't need to worry since one of the stock sounds, will probably work best for you. But in real-world usage you need to update the firmware for these headphones. Throughout my weeks of using the A50s prior to the firmware update, I was getting sound drops, inaccurate battery readings (it told me I had three blocks of battery but then died), and base station was acting 'weird' in that it wouldn't shut off or would change the Dolby setting for no reason. To properly use the A50s you need to update them at least once out of the box. I haven't run into any of those problems (or any new ones) in the few days since that update has dropped so that may be all they need. Base Station Weight: While the base station is nicely compact and won't take up a lot of space, it also doesn't weigh a ton and depending on it's placement, you may find that the weight/pull of the cords is a drag on it or when you are placing your headphones in the cradle to charge, it will slide all over. You can fix this with some sticky tabs on the bottom (like I did) or you can live with it. I was mostly frustrated because, at least for me, it made it harder to place the headphones to ensure a good contact with the charge pins. Which leads me to my final Con... Can Be Difficult To Consistently Hit The Charging Pins: While the base station and headphones have magnets to draw each other to the proper placement of the pins/charge points, it actually seems to be hit/or miss. I have had more than one occasion where I was sure they were set and charging (with the little charge indicators going), but then the next day, the headphones aren't charged. Now to be fair, this may have also been a firmware issue or because I am a lot more careful about their placement now, I have not run into this problem but it was a problem at one time for me. Overall: I really like the Astro A50s and I'm happy to have a set of wireless headphones again after years of using wired ones and always snagging the cord on something. The main reason I knocked a star off of the review was because of the requirement to update the firmware on these out of the box. If that weren't the case or if Astro starts delivering them with the updated firmware already loaded, these would easily be a 4.5/5 star set of gaming headphones. Oh, you may have also noted that I didn't say anything about the microphone and that is because I did not have any cause to use it and therefore can't say one way or the other about it's quality.

Best wireless headset I have every owned. I upgraded from the Astro A40 to these for the wireless technology and I couldn’t be happier.

Best headphones I have got so far. Confortable at it’s max, the audio is so great just as the output. I’m able to sound more clear on my streams and able to hear the game better.

These are absolute garbage. For $300 they had better be top quality sound performance and in the 11 days that they lasted there was no difference between them and a $40 offbrand set. Customer service from logitech? Ha thats even funnier they refuse to stand behind their product becuase they know its garbage. They would not repair a headset that had a software malfunction. The headset fails to update and then wont charge. So your stuck with a $300+ paper weight. So if you want to waste your money be my guest you will be sadly not taken care of by this company or you can get the same quality from a $40 pair and donate the extra $260 to some starving kids over seas if your money is burning a hole in your pocket. Would have been nice to see these behave like they are advertised but due to a very poor and greedy manufacturer who does not care about its consumers I will never ever buy logitech equipment again. I hope this review finds someone and enlightens them so they dont waste $300+ as well. And yes I did try to warranty them but logitech laughed and said it wasnt their problem

Sound quality is nice, only bad part is the top piece of the headset constantly pops out which makes the headphones terrible to wear. Spending this much on headphones and having that happen after a couple months is not worth it.

This is my second pair of Astro A50s and let me say the quality has seriously declined since the Gen 1 model. These feel cheap by comparison, the sound quality in my Gen 1s, particularly in the Bass was way better. In less than one year the head band came apart. I had to buy a third party USB switch to not have to unplug and replug wires when swapping from console to PC. Astro A50s we’re the heralded supreme ruler of gaming headsets but these 300 knockoffs, fall short of my expectations or compatibility standards. Sadly my Gen 1s arent compatible with anything accept my PC.

The new Astro A50 isn’t much different from the 3rd generation, but there are some changes. The audio is clear and refined, they work with Dolby Atmos, I haven’t had any of the disconnect issues I had with Gen 3 and the base station is slightly changed for a marginally better charging stand. Upon first use, I was concerned on how low the volume was, even with all the volume settings maxed out. You will find there is a mixer control on the right ear panel that changes volume level between voice and game that makes a difference. However, the real game changer for me was when I used ASTRO Command Center settings. Though the Command Center requires a PC to use it, I feel it is essential to get the best out of these headphones. Through the ASTRO Command Center you can select from the pre-installed equalizer presets, slightly tune them yourself or go into the advanced settings and really fine tune the sound. However, through advanced settings I found that you can really mess up the sound if you don’t know what you’re doing. The best option was when I went to Reddit r/AstroGaming and found the user made presets. Through the subreddit there were a good selection of other presets that put the sound where I was looking for. Once these presets are synced to the device, you can move it back over to the Xbox and enjoy the same sound. You can also use three different presets for your gaming preference which can easily be switched by the press of a button. The selected preset is noted by an audible beep and by a number on the base station. Some other settings in the Command Center include EQ settings, noise gate level and sidetone level for the microphone as well as level settings for the stream port of the base station. The large foam earpads are comfortable for long term use and avoid touching my huge ears. A separate mod kit is available for the synthetic leather and the previous generation is not compatible. The battery lasts about 15 hours for straight play time, but they also have an auto-power off when they are set down to help extend their life during any down time, which isn’t adjustable. There is also a micro-USB port that you can use to directly charge them if you must keep going. The other button on the headset cycles between straight audio and Dolby Audio, however, this is not the same as the Dolby Atmos audio that can be enabled on Xbox and PC. The Dolby button uses Pro-logic that simulates a surround sound where there is not sound. So, in game having this feature enabled can really mess things up because when you are listening for directional sound it might simulate it around you. The best option is to enable Dolby Atmos with the included code and leave the headset in the straight mode, which is noted by a star on the base station. Some minor annoyances I have is the fact that you really must connect this to a computer to make the most of it. Even changing the side tone of the mic could have been built in instead of the app. Also, if you want the latest version of the application, your best bet is to go through the Windows Store and not their own support site. Another thing is the volume knob is continuous, there is no indication of max or min as it just keeps spinning. The Voice/Game setting gives a tone when it reaches one extreme or the other, but not volume. I’m also a little upset that the 3rd generation mod kit won’t fit this generation. The only thing different is the slight variation in shape so they won’t work. Though slightly better, the same issue I had with the 3rd generation was the base station charging, it is still a pain to get right every time. The headphones feel like they lock in from the magnets, but then the base station starts flashing like it is in panic mode. It requires a little shake of the headset to try and get the exact contact so that they properly charge. After a few tries the lights will blink individually showing it’s level and that it is charging. I also feel they should offer more for their asking price. The fact it is cloth earpads and they up charge even more for the leather like material when other cheaper sets come with them by default. There are other wireless headsets that also offer different connectivity, such as Bluetooth and have longer battery life. Even cheap headsets offer an easier switch between Xbox and PC than this one does. Besides the changes mentioned above, I really don’t see a true generation change here. It is more like Generation 3.5 which adds Dolby Atmos support.

Pros: In terms of sound, mic quality awesome Cons: initial update to get system to work with Xbox series x consulted and required multiple tries to get it to take. Fit of headset for most it would I am sure be fine, I have a big head and the 2 snaps on crown of headset pop out of their slots causing the top head padding to dislodge and fall out. In my case useless headphones unless I want to super glue or tie wrap the top together. Should not have to jerry rig a $300 pair of head phones
