Immerse your gaming with detail sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sound After playing a few hours of Call of Duty on PS4 I can write this with confidence that the sound quality is outstanding. I was able to hear the detail sounds that the game developers wanted gamers to hear. I performed really well when I used the Astro A50 because I heard the footsteps and environment game changes better. I’m impressed on how much of a difference it made playing my game using the new A50. The new Astro A50 supports Dolby audio and I can turn it on or off right from the headset. Also it has a mic that I can slide down to talk or have it up to mute my chats. During the game with a simple click on the right side of the headset I can balance the voice and game sound. To help fine tune the game experience we can also download a free software to further customize the A50. Battery I played for about 3-4 hours and I only lost only 1 out of 4 lights that indicates how much power I have remaining. This is a great thing because pro gamers will have plenty of time before needing a recharge. For my gaming I think over 15 hours from every battery recharge is more than I will be needing. Comfort The headset is very comfortable because it is wireless, lightweight, softly padded on my head and over my ears. The frame is sturdy and it don’t press uncomfortably on my ears. The headset is comfortable to where I can lay on my back while wearing them and remain comfortable. Style The new A50 is a great looking gaming headset. I’ve seen a few ugly gaming headsets but the A50 is not in that category. I get pro quality audio and futuristic style with the new Astro A50. Cons -Padding on the headset are not leather. If premium is the aim I think the leather would make it more elegant for the price. I did read that the padding are removable to interchange to any liking but I have not explore that yet to determine if it’s worth the extra cost for me. -No auto off feature to preserve battery when not in use. Pros -Wireless with a charging dock for easy battery recharge. -On the headset the controls are at fingertips reach to make it easy to adjust preferred settings. Final opinion Meets my expectations with sound quality and this is a great headset for novice and pro gamers. I think the setup was also very easy to follow for my PS4 and I like the option to use it with my PC. I believe this is a good product and I would recommend trying it before deciding on your next gaming headset. I like the surround sound the A50 headset produce and the soft white indicators. The indicators are all easy to see and give me visual of everything important when I’m using the A50. I took 1 star away only because of the price and the padding not being leather.

Great Wireless headset
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have been using these for a month now - I want to cover a few things 1. Setup - setup was a breeze - simply plug in your optical cable or USB cable to your PC - done! 2. Function - They are wireless and provide a good range in my home - I can wander a bit around the house before the sound will drop - usually about 40feet give or take. The sound doesn't distort but doe completely drop-in/out when you hit that edge! The headset has a great battery life - I used them for a few gaming sessions and conference calls for about 3-4 hours - never got a battery warning! It's easy to set up 3 different audio EQs and switch from game to PC> Also the base provides a charge status! 3. Comfort - I ofter find that over the ear headsets become uncomfortable after about 45 min with my ears getting hot. These have a magnetic earpiece that is a foam/fabric material. These are comfortable and allow some airflow and thus I can wear them longer - also easy replacement as they wear down to keep the headset like new! 4. Microphone - has good pickup and boom is flexible. When upright it is muted. There is a noticeable "notch" when moving up that lets you know it is in fact muted! 5. Volume - this headset has a good volume for calls and gaming - They are plenty loud enough but not rocking your skull LOUD. I tried going loud to find a distortion but the limited settings prevented that - which is good!! 6. Sound Quality - I really liked the sound form these - They are Dolby settings. I found the spacial to be great and the custom EQ lets me set to sound as I want. I set up a few EQs for music/Gaming/Calls that are quick presets! These presets are easily known on the base or by audio beeps as you flip through. 7. Build Quality - this headset should last a long time. They are well built and using the base for storage should keep them out of harms way! With the customizable pieces that are replaceable as well. 8. WIndows 10 allows me to switch between the headset and my USB desktop speakers so that I'm not always plugging/unplugging the headset Overall a great headset and should last a while if taken care of! Headrest design is stupid
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don’t know why they thought a removeable headrest (that part thats cushion at the top for your head idk) was a good idea. already it’s broken and I’ve used these for like 6 months. What kind of design choice was this? ridiculous. it doesn’t stay on and the piece that snaps into the actual headset is just completely chipped. I don’t abuse my stuff either. Just terrible design for $300.

Not a good headset for the PS5
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The setup for this headset is insane. After you buy your 300.00 headset you have to buy this adapter for 40.00. Then once you hook up your FOUR additional cables you will loose 4K and 120 refresh rate. The microphone picks up every minor noise. Like a ceiling fan. Or even if you rub your feet together. Then to top it all off the docking station will not charge the headset unless the ps5 is ON not rest mode but ON. The docking station has a port that says Charge but that doesn’t work at all. So I’m unsure what that’s all about. I will be returning the adapter and this headset. I got this headset 100.00 off on sale and it still isn’t worth the money

2 headsets, both garbage
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really wanted to love these and at first I did, but within the first month 2 screws fell out then the headset started cutting out while playing. Astro replaced the headset with a new one, this one hasn’t fallen to pieces, yet, but the audio is horrible. When the headset isn’t crackling or buzzing it just randomly fails and goes silent while you’re mid gun fight. I’ve recieved multiple teammate complaints due to a screaching noise it emits. Waste of money and time.

Game Changing Headset!!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Astro A50 Wireless + Base Station is really a next level game-changing headset. Just the fact that its wireless is in and of itself great to have. It boasts a 16-hour battery life but has so much more. In the beginning, you have to update the firmware for both the base station and the headset to get the best use of this product. The product at the time of review was listed on Best Buy for $299.99 the same price from the manufacturer, so my review will be comparing it to products of the same price point as this unit. Wireless Headset is a bit heavy but really fits comfortably on your head so you barely notice the weight of it once it's properly fitted to your head. The headset usees cloth cushion so you don’t sweat regardless of how many hours you are using it. This is a great feature, I think more manufacturers are moving in this direction. The headset also has buttons for Power on/off, Volume control, EQ setting and Dolby on Source Audio. I can't tell how nice that is when you want to just reach up and change things on the fly instead of promoting this on your computer or gaming console. Very nice touch. This microphone is smooth flip down or up. The build quality of the headset is outstanding. Base Station comes with USB Charger, and also a short optical cable from source (PS4) to base station. But it doesn’t end there. It also has inputs for Optical in/out, Aux, Micro USB and a switch for PC to PS4. For the purpose of this test, I have tested on my PC. Astro Comand Center – Is the interface for the Equalizer Presets. It offers 5 presets; A50 Mod Kit, Astro, Media, Pro, and Studio. It also allows you to store and save your own presets along with advanced setting to give you even more flexibility to adjust to the setting that works for you. It also has Stream Port setting that you use for the microphone and at this time I have not tested it, but will soon. I tested the EQ and the Dolby sound on a computer watching Alita Battle Angel on VUDU which supports the Dolby driver and tested its clarity. The fight scene in the movie with Alita in the ally with Dr. Ido was amazing to listen to. The balance between high and low was great and it was tested on the preset for Pro and Studio. At the end of the day, I was not tired of listening to this amazing Headset. I am now using this as my main headset for both my computer and PS4 and for the money is well worth the investment to have this type of quality built headset with so much functionality and ease of use.

ASTROnomically Improved Gaming Experience
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.----- Summary ----- Pros: - Outstanding audio quality - Comfortable to wear - Durable but also lightweight - 15-hour battery life - Status and mode indicators on the base station - Dependable wireless connectivity - Game and chat audio balance control on the headset - Mic is muted when in the upward position - Customization options in ASTRO Command Center Cons: - Leather headband and cushions sold separately ----- Review ----- Setup: In the box, you will find the A50 Wireless Headset, base station, instructions, micro USB cable, optical cable and a two-year subscription code for Dolby Atmos. Setup was as simple as plugging the USB and optical cable into the base station and Xbox, then checking the audio settings on the Xbox and adjusting them as needed. The setup is similar for PCs, but this review will be primarily focussed on my experience using the headset with an Xbox. Within just a few minutes, the headset and base station were set up and ready to go. I have noticed that something as simple as a product’s unboxing and setup experience significantly impacts first impressions. The ASTRO team clearly knows and capitalizes on that. Design: I am a big fan of this headset’s design. It strikes a great balance between durability and comfort. I have owned several different gaming headsets in the past, and they were either too lightweight and flimsy or too durable and heavy. With the latter, the substantial weight of the headband on the top of my head and the cushions around my ears would cause discomfort, even during short gaming sessions. That is not an issue at all with the ASTRO A50 headset. It is both lightweight and durable. I noticed right away how gaming without discomfort made my experience much more enjoyable. The distance between the headband and the ear cushions can be easily adjusted with the sliders on each side, and that setting does stay in place pretty well, even after moving around or docking the headset on its base. With the optional A50 Mod Kit that ASTRO offers, the cloth headband and ear cushions can be swapped out with synthetic leather ones. My one disappointment with this headset is that those are not included and must be purchased separately. On the right side of the headset are the power switch, Dolby button (to swap between Dolby and source audio), EQ button (to swap between equalizer presets), volume control, and game audio/player voice balance buttons. On the left side of the headset is the microphone, which can be moved up and down as needed. Something cool is that the mic is muted automatically when it is in the upward position. The headset can be charged using a USB port or wirelessly on the base. The back of the base has a switch for PC or Xbox mode, a USB port, optical in/out, AUX and a micro USB port. The front has several lights to signify statuses and modes, such as whether the headset/base is in PC or Xbox mode, the battery status, Dolby status, and EQ mode. I like where everything is located and have found it easy to learn the controls/modes. The ASTRO A50 Wireless Headset looks great and feels great. In terms of design, there is not much more I could ask for. Features & Performance: The top feature and reason to get this ASTRO A50 headset is the audio. With ASTRO Audio V2 and Dolby, the audio quality is top-notch. The bass is powerful but not overwhelming or distorting. The surround sound is directionally accurate, and everything sounds crisp and clear. I have not experienced a headset or home surround sound system that comes close to the audio quality of the ASTRO A50 headset. The icing on the cake is that this headset is wireless. Another aspect of the audio that I have learned to appreciate is the game/voice balancing buttons on the side of the headset that allow you to turn down chat voices easily so that the game sound can be more prominent or vice versa. If you use this headset for Xbox gaming, I highly recommend activating the included subscription to Dolby Atmos so that you are getting everything out of this impressive headset. Not all games support Dolby Atmos spatial sound, but the list of games is growing as new ones come out. With the headset being wireless and producing such high-quality sound, I was a bit fearful that it would have mediocre battery life, but that is far from the case. It has over 15 hours of battery life, so this headset has not even come close to running out of battery during my gaming sessions, especially since I charge it on the base after every use. The dependability of the wireless connection and the range is another feature I believe I should mention. I have not had any connectivity issues since I started using the headset. This even applies when I close the cabinet door to my TV stand, so small barriers do not appear to be an issue. With the ASTRO Command Center Software, numerous settings allow you to fine-tune audio input (e.g. mic level) and output (e.g. EQ profiles). The amount of customization that is available to account for specific needs is impressive, and the software works well for its purpose. ASTRO packed a lot of features and, most importantly, outstanding audio into this A50 headset. Verdict: After having the opportunity to test the ASTRO A50 Wireless Headset, there is no doubt in my mind that a five-star rating is what it deserves. Other headsets are going to have a hard time competing with the appealing design, comfort, numerous features, and outstanding audio quality of this A50 headset. As a longtime gamer, I cannot help but smile and be filled with excitement when I get my hands on a product as great as this. My gaming experience has been taken to another level with this headset, and I hope you have the opportunity to try it for yourself. The A50 headset is an easy top choice and recommendation to fellow gamers.
