I shouldn't have to update the headphones for basic features to work. Not really worth the price probably will return these for the x9 which have issues but cost less.

Worth the money for me

The sound is very clear and the surround sound works amazing. It is easy to maneuver from game chat to in game sound. The ear muffs are replaceable and detach easy with a magnet. You can also hear your surroundings while the headset is on.

Make sure you have windows 10 pc/laptop that you can use to update the firmware after purchase. Out of the box the sound was low for a premium headset. The other very annoying issue was the headset wasn't recognized when turning the the xbox on. I then had to unplug and replug in the docking station to get the xbox to recognize it. I happy to say the latest firmware fixes both issues. These replaced my old turtle beach x41s. These were a huge upgrade in my opinion.
