This headset is a major disappointment, especially for someone that had OG Astro A40s back in the day. I went from Astro, to Sennheiser, to Beyerdynamic. My modmic died and I wanted to jump to wireless, so I gave these a shot having loved my A40s. So many problems... The ear cans are incredibly small. People with larger ears will feel cramped. The headset is very easily knocked off your head/out of place by the smallest bumps. The buttons on the back get pressed easily, making resting your head on your chair a challenge. The microphone sounds like absolute garbage. It is locked to a bitrate equivalent of a 90s landline telephone, so your voice is muffled and tinny. The audio quality as well leaves much to be desired. I tried both uncompressed PCM over USB and optical input. The cans fail to deliver both rich bass and clean treble. If you adjust the EQ for treble and mid clarity, you lose pretty much all bass. If you adjust for bass, the sound gets really distorted and you lose all clarity from mids and highs. I tried all default EQ (they all suck), made my own (couldn't find a balance), and tried all of thr custom ZEFERENCE EQs which are godly on the A40s. There was no optimal choice. I also struggled with the headset constantly losing audio balance during longer play sessions. An hour of tweaking the EQ to find an acceptable sound stage, only for everything to start muddling two hours in. This headset is a very hard pass for me. I went back to my Beyerdynamics and bought a new Antlion modmic. Very sad

Don't waste your money, especially if you're on the Xbox Series S|X. I bought this headset for a few reasons. One, I already owned the Astro A40s in the past and I quite enjoyed them. Two, I really, really, wanted a wireless headset. Three, I talked with Astro Customer Support about the headset, and they implied it would work differently than it does. Turns out, these are just $300 pieces of crap. Two days from now would mark 3 months since I owned these. And guess what? I can't even connect the base station to my xbox anymore, it just up and stopped working. Kind of defeats the purpose when I bought them to be primarily used on an xbox... Oh and the S/PDIF (optical) ports? They're just for pass-through. Don't listen to the people at Astro Customer Support saying otherwise. You won't be able to use the optical out port as a stream port like they claim. You're better off buying the cheap version of astros, or another brand entirely. I have put far too much money and faith in this company.

aweful build, headset once a week or so just wont connect to base. cant update as their software dosent work. headband keeps popping out, cant even submit a request on their customer service, just wont let me submit. for 300$+ i would rather use my grandmas used earbuds
