Not a good headset, Arctic 9x is far superior for less money. XBox user. This headset might be good for other things but warzone is not one of them.

If I could I would rate this a zero. There is issues putting it on the dock to the point it feels like your forcing it on. There is a continual buzzing in the left ear and overall just not worth the money. I did research after and these are huge issues with this headset, so be forewarned.

Hello, Here's my first ever written review. This product is awful. It's been out over a month, and Astro hasn't released a firmware update to fix the many issues. Please, I've been gaming for over twenty years and owned every Castro headset. This one is the worst. 1. The base station freezes. 2. The mic picks up everything going on in your house. You put the mic on the tournament mode, and it doesn't work. 3. When the mic is on mute, it doesn't come off mute unless you unplug the power from the base station and reconnects. Get ready my local best buy. I'm returning it today after dinner!

The Astro A50 headset is the best headset I have ever owned. The only bad thing about this headset is the price tag, but if you game regularly and need that extra edge in competitiveness, this is the headset for you. I have owned several Turtle Beach Headsets including the high end Turtle Beach Elite Pro 2. You might as well spend the extra money and get the Astro A50 instead. It is lightweight, does not make your ears hot, and very very comfortable for long gaming sessions. The controls are very user friendly and does not require an app or amp to tweak settings on the fly. The sound is very crisp/clear and the noise canceling mic does not pick up much (If any at all) background noise while gaming. My teammates have stated that I sound the clearest out of everyone we game with. The battery last a very long time. I have gone 10+ hours on a full charge even though it says 13, i don't like to take a chance and need a recharge in the middle of a game. The range on the Astro A50 is great too. It is nice to be able to walk around my house and grab a drink/ect while communicating with my buddies in between games. I highly recommend this headset. The only downside is that for the price, it would be nice to be able to make it easier to switch between PS4 and Xbox One without buying an extra $100 docking station. At least you can switch between console and PC easily.

It's been a while since I got a new headset that was anything more than a throwaway. I have to say this was definitely the right way to step back in to getting hedsets that are worthwhile. To start, the packaging experience is definitely premium. Not only is it double boxed, but the inside box is thick walled, smooth and opens like a book. The headset is well contained in easily removed plastic which also contains the base station, a micro-USB cable and an optical audio cable. The construction of the headset itself is superb, albeit mostly plastic. The earpads are cloth and extremely comfortable (although they do tend to get very warm with prolonged use). Setting it up is easy enough although you feel like you have to read the included literature (of which there is only a little) to "get it" honestly. It definitely could be a little better explained or at least a touch more straightforward out of the box if you're like me and go to hook it up without reading anything. That said, within a few minutes I was up and running. The USB cable provides both the power to charge the headset (as well as the connection to the source if connected to a PC as well, more on that in a minute). It also comes with an optical TOSlink cable for connecting to the PS4. A few settings in the PS4 menus and I was good to go. In playing games the audio was crisp and clear with Dolby Digital turned off on the headset, however with it turned on I experienced what could only be described as 'muddy' sound. There are 3 equalizer settings built in as well, but I preferred it left on the "1" setting. The bass was quite good for a headset and it definitely helped my positional awareness in The Division 2. I also played some videos and music through the headset which was also excellent, again provided Dolby Digital was turned off. I then went and tried the headset with my PC. The experience was much the same as with the PS4, although when using the TOSLINK cable I experienced a strange issue in Overwatch where the chat audio was clear but the game audio was extremely quiet. Running it with USB to the PC did not cause this issue. (As I've finished writing this review I'm finding that the documentation DOES explain this feature, however as the documentation mostly consists of a picture of the headset with a bunch of lines coming off each button explaining what it is, I just missed this earlier. Again, one of those things that is not straightforward nor easily noticed). Some minor gripes about the headset: It only sits in the charger with the mic boom swiveled straight up. In addition, the mic boom only swings one direction so you are always required to have it on the left side of your head. The headset, while loud, seems to have a volume limiter in it, so it definitely cannot get earshatteringly loud, at least not when I tried it, although if the source has an independent volume control you may be able to overcome that. There's very little documentation to explain what some of the lights mean on the base. Pros: Great sound (with DD turned off) Comfortable Premium experience Wireless Magnetic Charging Dock Cons: - Micro-USB connectivity (honestly in this world of USB Type-C I'm not sure why anything still comes with Micro-USB) - Extremely poor documentation (I'm sure they thought it was cool to have each button and feature laid out on a giant picture of the headset, but honestly it takes studying to find each feature, not helped by the fact it isn't just listed in a bulleted format) - Dolby Digital audio is muddy - Equalizer options are not explained and mostly useless - Extremely short cables (both the USB and TOSLINK cables are 3ft (1m)) - There are 2 forms of this headset the PS4/PC and XBOX/PC. In this day and age I'm not really sure why they needed 2 different headsets, feels like a money grab. As I have both consoles, I find I can only use this on one of them. Honestly, I would recommend this headset to anyone looking for a decent wireless headset for console or PC gaming (just be sure you buy the correct version for your console). The wireless functionality and audio are great, and really there are no perfect headsets out there. This one is well made and works well, albeit with a few minor drawbacks.

Don't like new changes but they are still good

Let me preface this with, the people at my local best buy probably hate me. I've been looking into getting wireless headsets for a while now and didn't know what to buy. My main headset were the Astro A40's that I've had for over 5 years now (they still work but that wire was getting annoying). The biggest deterrent was definitely the price. You're probably thinking what is this mans talking about he has the A40's those are like 250$. You're right but I got my A40's through a friend for 180 so lets squash that real quick. So back to why my local best buy probably hates me is because I went through at least 5 headsets (HyperX Cloud II, Corsair Virtuoso, Logitech G Pro X, Razer Nari, Steel Series Arctis Pro) before purchasing these. And I have to tell you, if you're coming from the A40's don't waste your time like I did for 2 weeks and just buy these. When it comes to looks, comfort, and sound. The A50's just blow away most of the competition. The only 2 reasons why I'm giving this a 4/5 instead of a 5. Price and the new design changes. I don't have to go into price so I'll get into the design changes they made. So this new model of the A50's don't have the removable mic anymore. They implemented the A10 and A20 mic feature which is the auto mute when the mic is in the vertical position. This more for the console gamers. I have a separate mic for vc so I'm never going to use this mic on the headset and its a wasted feature for me personally. I would have liked to remove it but its physically attached to the headset now. Also they moved the game/chat mixer to the right ear cover. So no more custom face plates for the headsets like the A40's. Again these design changes are more geared towards console gamers which for them these would be great features. But for PC people it kind of sucks. Out of the box you don't really need to tweak anything they have 3 good sound profiles you can swap between. If you download the software you can go and change the EQ to whatever you want. Unlike the other headsets where sometime you need the software to change the EQ or some of them don't even have software at all (HyperX Cloud II). The surround sound is great. I did notice if you swap between the surround sound and pass through too many times the sound does crackle a bit. If you also have speakers that take optical inputs, you can route the audio from the base station to the speakers which I didn't even know I needed until I saw it. The headset is also very intuitive. I knows when you put it down and will shut off on its own to save battery which honestly 10/10 didn't know I needed feature. Again this is a great headset and I'm glad I purchased these. Now lets hope they don't break!

For a while, I have been wanting to try out Astro higher-end wireless gaming headphones. For the last couple of years, I have been rocking a pair of Turtle Beach XP510 that have been solid until lately, the battery has started to take a hit. I’ve heard how much better the sound is with Astro compared to their Turtle Beach counterpart. Let’s start off talking about sound reproduction. Right away what I noticed on the improvements in the bass output on the Astro A50. Turtle Beach headset has a history of having lackluster bass. I remember when I brought the XP3 and took them back right away since they sounded distorted whenever you had LFE for example explosions or bass-thumping music. Another improvement over the Turtle Beach is on sound clarity. Not only is the bass richer but the sound is crisp clear that the bass does not overpower the vocals or treble. The Dolby Atmos shines with the Astro A50 headset. The Astro Command Center offers plenty of sound customizations. Right out of the box you have 3 equalizer options which are, Astro, Pro, and Studio. For most of my usage, I left it on the Astro setting the sound had a nice balance of treble and bass. Pro is useful when playing online multiplayer games what it does it boost the highs. For the few multiplayer matches I did on Modern Warfare and FortNite the effect was subtle for me probably since I don’t play online like I used to and typically not paying attention for footsteps. On the right side headset, you can adjust the game and chat volume in real-time. So if you’re having a hard time hearing your teammates you no longer have to fumble through the menus to adjust the chat volume. Mic performed well no complaints from my teammates. Set up was very simple just plugged in the optical cable to the Xbox and if you have a soundbar it does offer an optical output passthrough so you can still use your soundbar without having to go through the hassle of unplugging it to use it. The base is powered by a USB cable that I would like to have seen a little bit longer. The headset themselves can be charged by being a dock or through a USB cable too. As for features, there’s not much like the ability to stream your music through Bluetooth at the same time with your game as I did on the Turtle Beach. For this current generation is not much of a problem since both consoles can stream music through Spotify unless you’re subscribed to another streaming music platform. But I still would like to have seen this feature since there are times I like to stream music from my offline collection and YouTube. Wireless connection has been steady after the latest update. In the beginning, I did experience some audio drops. So far this issue has been resolved with the latest update too. The build quality is solid. The base doesn’t take much space with a couple of LEDs in the front to show battery level and audio settings. The headset doesn’t have any creaks or any weak spots that would concern me for long term durability. They’re much better compared to my previous headset. They are very comfortable to use even wearing glasses. You can easily upgrade or replace the ear pads. They’re attached by magnets takes seconds to swap them out. Astro does sell mod kits to upgrade the ear pads if the stock ones are not comfortable for you. Now to the bad stuff the bugs so far. One of the main issues I’ve experienced is when the headset is connected to the Xbox One. There are times I would have to unplug the base to get it to work. It’s an issue that only occurs when turning the Xbox back on. Not sure why the base freezes when the Xbox turns on. This issue should be resolved by a firmware update so far it doesn’t occur so often as it did before. When all it’s working the Astro A50 are a solid wireless headset with excellent audio. It would have been a 5 out of 5 if it wasn’t for the bugs. The sound and solid build quality are top notched. So far I have been impressed with the sound and battery life.

Short and sweet: Xbox Series X came and this headset was not ready. When using, the audio tuning is a mess of mixed wires between the astro command console (which does nothing for the xbox audio) and the Dolby Access (which is the only tuning that will adjust audio but has hard preset frequencies). Everyone wanting an astro headset for the next gen consoles is better off waiting.
