Absolute garbage product. Defective right out of the box... and I'm not the only one. Do yourself a favor and search for Astro A50 not charging and avoid these at all costs. I bought these impulsively while at Best Buy and that's exactly where they're going back to tomorrow morning.

I previously owned a pair of Astro A50 5G, but kept getting distorted feedback and disconnections from the base station. I tried these and initially everything seemed okay, until I tried joining a chat party during the game, but no one could hear me. I took that pair back, got another pair and I still have the same issue.

I`ve used numerous gaming headsets over the years from all the big name companies and these are definitely right at the top of the list. I`ve always wanted a pair of A50s going back to the Halo 3 MLG days and now I only wish I had gotten a pair sooner. The first noticeable aspect with this headset though is right when unboxing them as you can tell Astro went to the extent of making sure the packaging was even top notch and provides that quality feel. Setup though right out of the box was extremely simple when using them with my Xbox as the base station just plugs right into the Xbox and the headset is instantly connected and ready to go. The full wireless aspect of these is a great convenience as I did not feel it would be that drastic of a difference not having a wire connected to the controller, but it truly is. Then with the comfort and feel, these are absolutely phenomenal as they have that feeling of sturdiness, but at the same time are lightweight for extended playtime which is something that seems hard to find with that perfect balance. Moving onto the sound and voice I mean this is a high-end headset and that`s exactly what you get with the Dolby Atmos included. I was using a mid-priced Plantronics RIG headset that had Atmos as well, but the difference between the two is astronomical. The ease of getting that game to voice balance is extremely easy with the touch controls right there on the headset along with the ability to turn the Atmos on and off with a touch of the button. Astro was able to incorporate the essentials for ease of use with the right amount of buttons on the headset without having it be too overwhelming with buttons all over the headset. Then in regards to voice, right when I joined a party one of my friends asked why it sounded like my mic was in my throat because it was so clear as he said he just assumed it was because I had previously been using one of the cheap $10 Xbox headsets even though I was previously alternating between 2 headsets that were both $100+ headsets. This just shows the difference these have over those mid-range $100-$150 headsets. Overall, there are just so many positive features of this headset that I have not even found any negatives to slightly offset all the positives. From the build quality and features to the sound and voice, every aspect is top notch and I know the price is that on the higher end, but I can definitely understand the price after using these for just a week.

What a let down, my previous A50's lasted me 4 years and we're great. These lasted ONE day and the base station stopped working. The sound quality when they did work was not like previous versions. These sounded like a $50 Walmart special. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!! There are cheaper headsets that sound better.

    Premium Wireless Gaming Experience

Comfort: Comfort, more than anything, is important to me when wearing a headset. The sound doesn’t really matter if it’s not comfortable to wear. I get almost no fatigue on my ears when doing long gaming sessions. I work 3rd shift so I’m usually rocking these while the rest of the house sleeps on my days off. The only discomfort I do get, after several hours, is from the headband foam. I think if they used a softer foam in the head band it would mitigate or eliminate this altogether. Sound/Mic: Disclaimer, I’m not an audiophile, but I really enjoy the sound from this headset. When playing games, it’s easy to tell which direction I’m hearing sound from. Music and effects come across loud and balanced. Voice audio also comes through well and I have no issues hearing my friends on the other end. You will not be disappointed listening to music on these either as they serve as perfectly good headphones for music and movies. What’s also great is the amount of control you get using the Astro command center when in PC mode. Being able to customize, tweak, and save profiles for both audio and microphone levels is amazing. The advanced EQ settings really give you the fine tune control to dial in the sound you want. Whether if you’re looking for a theatrical experience or really want to highlight footstep sounds in a game, you can customize to your hearts desire to give you the desired results. Connectivity: One thing that has been impressive is the strong connectivity with this headset. During long gaming sessions, food and drink become important, but you don’t want to miss the conversation or hear static from the other end. Not been a problem for me. I don’t have that many walls between me and the kitchen but there’s easily 35 to 40 feet separating me from the base station. Also, in the connectivity category is the base station itself. The base station comes with two modes, depending on which version you purchased, to either play with PC optimization or PlayStation 4 customization. You do have to manually flip a switch depending on which platform you’re on. It would have been nice if there was an auto-detect built in, but for now, we’re stuck with the toggle. Having a charging solution where you just sit the headphones down and pick them up can be a game changer if your old wireless headphones constantly need to be plugged in. The headset will power itself off after some time, and when you pick them up to use them, they power back on so there’s no button flipping on the headset, they’re just ready to go. The base station also comes with an Aux port as well as a charge and play port in the event you forget to seat them in the base station. Final Thoughts: This headset will retire my old one and become a permanent fixture on my computer desk. I game on both PC and PS4, depending on the game, and I regularly switch between both with the headset. Music, movies, and most importantly, games, sound absolutely fantastic and find myself putting them on more and more when I don’t have to just for the premium quality of sound. The only things I would request on the next iteration would be a bit more adjustability in the head band, interchangeable head band foam (like the replaceable ear muffs), USB-C, and finally, dual operability with the base station, as in, both pc and ps4 plugged in at once so switching between the two is easier.
