To start, I received Astro A50 + base station and I attempted to connect it to my PS4. Initially, the base station lit up. However, that didn't last long. I tried everything that I could think of, but nothing worked. I contacted Astro support and they had me try various things (different USB cable, different ports, etc.) but nothing worked. They determined that my base station was defective and sent me a new one. The replacement base station was different from the one that was packaged with the headset. This one was slimmer and longer. When I connected it to my computer, the charging light came one. However, once I went to place the headset in the base station to charge it, I discovered that the pins that connect to the headset were not aligning properly. I tried many times to get the headset to seat properly to where it would make a connection. After looking at it with a flashlight I could see that the outer ring of the headset (around the ear cups) stuck out too far to allow the headset to make a connection with the charging pins. Again, I contacted Astro support. I sent them pictures of what I had found and they apologized and said that they would send me a whole new setup. They sent a return label to return the defective one. Their customer service was top notch. There was never any hassle or struggle to get the headset swapped out. I can't say enough about how well my issue was handled. The replacement headset arrived and I immediately charged it, set it up and adjusted my settings using the Astro Command Center. The entire setup process was easy. You will need to connect the base station/headset to a computer to download the updates. Then, you're ready for gaming. There are three presets that you can have assigned to the headset at one time. Everything is customizable, from a full EQ to how you want your game/mic balance. There are even settings for things like night mode, which allows you to speak quieter and still be heard when others are sleeping and you don't want to disturb them. You can cycle through the different presets using a button on the headset. There is also a Dolby button as well as the power button and volume wheel. The mic uses a flip-up to mute function which is great. My previous headset was the Turtle Beach Elite Pro 2 which had a switch on the cable running from the headset to the amp to mute. If you had to cough or sneeze, it could be a pain to find in a hurry. As far as sound quality, the Astro A50 is superb. I thought that the Elite Pro 2s were great, but these are a step above. I used them back to back and would pick the Astro over the Turtle Beach by far. The sound is far superior. It's a very deep, rich sound. You can hear absolutely every detail and tell exactly where the sound is coming from. I first tested them out on the Battlefield 5 test range. You could hear every detail. There was wind noise and you could hear bugs flying around. You could hear the bullet casings hitting the ground and tell if they were falling on stone or wood. After the test range, I went into a multiplayer match. I could hear players walking in the room next to me and above me and could easily determine their exact location. I knew immediately were every gunshot came from, where every explosion was. The Astro A50s helped me improve my gameplay by giving me the advantage of being able to pinpoint every noise. Overall, if you're looking for the best gaming headset available, the Astro A50 is the way to go. I would pick them over the Turtle Beach. Best of all, these are wireless. The Elite Pro 2 are wired, and for me, that doesn't work as well sitting 15 feet from my TV. I highly recommend these.

Good quality headphones with a slight issue when c

Everything about these headphones screams quality. From the metal frames to the microphone, all of it is a quality item. The sound is superior to most other headphones I’ve listen through and the way that it adapts itself to the PS5 is pretty flawless actually. My wife certainly appreciate them more than me I think just basically because she doesn’t have to listen to the games. They’re very comfortable around the ears, I will say that I do sweat a little in them and I just think that’s because the fit is so good. All in all they were really good headphones. I would say my only complaint would be that using the stand, requires you to leave the PS5 on in order for them to charge. Whenever I am done playing I always put my PS5 in sleep mode and after about five minutes it shuts off. Well if I’ve used my headphones for a couple hours and they’re only quarter full, they won’t charge once the PS5 shuts off. So to get around that, I plug them into a separate cord that is plugged into the wall and just lay them next to the dock. It kind of eliminates the need for the dock which, is part of the convenience of having them, being able to just place the headphones in the dock to charge. I’m sure there’s some way around this, and I’ll probably figure it out but for now I just plug them in. So because of that I’m only going to give it a good rating as opposed to excellent even though I really think they’re pretty close to an excellent set of headphones when it comes to sound, fit, and durability. Because of the work around I have to use to charge them, that’s why it’s getting a good rating. If someone can tell me what I need to do to charge them with the PS5 off, that will fix my dilemma.

I have had the Astro A50 Gen 4 since its release in 2019 and I can definitely say I have never encountered a problem with the self-turn-off. However, some problems I have encountered over the years are slim. 1. Sometimes they will randomly not want to play audio, and the fix to that is just turning them off place on the base station unplugging them plugging them in, and turning them back on; that usually fixes it... if not you have to reset them with a button or something i can't remember been a while. 2. The other problem that I have is that the battery life has decreased quiet a lot as off just recently and is very annoying. I haven't tested how much it depleted but it definitely isn't the 15 hrs or something they claim... but id still say thats pretty decent for 5 almost 6 years. For the good, the audio is great as well as the comfort I'd highly recommend the leather ear cup kit... makes them way more comfortable. The Sourond sound is pretty good I feel like with the Dolby Atmos app it could definitely bring out better audio but then you have to pay even more for a $300 pair of headphones.
