Comfortable. Dolby can add slight metallic effect.

Pro: -Lightweight and comfortable -Freely adjustable height -Customizable sound profiles with Astro Command Center Con: -Dolby can have echoing metallic ting -Portability The A50 is one of the lightest headsets I have. The flexible band, soft earpiece, low clamp force, and the freely adjustable height (no clicks at certain intervals) make it feels lighter and a comfortable wear. The earpieces are magnetic making it easier to clean and swap out. All the controls (volume, profiles, dolby, and game/chat volume) are easily accessible on the right with big clearly distinct buttons. The mic is a bit soft but otherwise fine. The base station has magnetic charging and stays put reasonably well. It has idicators for the various modes as well as audio out for streamers. You need to switch it to PC mode when connecting to Astro Command Center. The sound is where I have a bit of an issue. With Dolby turned off, it sounds fine, but lacks the punch of surround. With it on, in most cases it still sounds good but it will have a bit of a hollow metallic tinge to it. Like walking in a big empty warehouse. It’s only noticeable if you really listen closely. However in select games (in particular Bloodstained Ritual of the Night) that metallic effect is overpowering and obviously different between having it on and off. Navigating menus and footsteps have a clear clang to them. That game sounded fine on my other headset and my speakers. The Command Center lets you download custom profiles. They update the firmware and profiles and is recommended to update the headset. I just stick to the default Pro or Studio setting. It’s easy to use and you can adjust channels and frequencies to your liking. Overall I think it’s a good headset. Definitely one of the most comfortable pairs I’ve owned. The Dolby setting can add some weird effect but with most games it’s fine.

The Astro A50 Wireless Headphones are a great headphone for gaming. Here are some of the pros: Set-up was simple. Plug in and go. It comes with an optical cable or USB to use. The headphones are comfortable to wear for long periods of time when you are fully immersed in your games. The sound quality is superior. Playing on PS4 you can hear where the sounds are coming from whether in front, behind above, to the left or right. You know where the other players are coming from. The microphone sound quality is good. It has a flexible boom that you can raise up to mute. Charging base station will not overcharge. It has smart technology that won't let you overcharge if you leave them on the base for too long. Overall these are the best headphones we have used for the PS4. Highly recommend.

Sorry Astro it's me, not you...

Sorry Astro it's me, not you, I have been spoiled by Arctis Pro’s Bluetooth multitasking abilities...The A50s are not to blame here. I had been using Arctis Pro Wireless for 4 Years. They were out of warranty and the right ear cup died. I decided to give the A50s a shot this time. I lasted a week before realizing it was a mistake and I had to return them. The A50's were not bad, I was just used to so much more. Not being a stranger to Astro I had previously bought 2 pairs of Astro A40's with Mix Amp Pro. back in 2015 and still have them to this day and they work fine. Initially, I just wanted a wireless headset for playing Keyboard and Drums, and also games like RockSmith2014 with guitar wireless was the way. sSo much nicer not fighting with cords while jamming. There is nothing is wrong with the A50’s they are just lacking compared to the Arctis Pro wireless. The Bluetooth connectivity with my PC, cellphone, and tablets was CLUTCH. Swappable batteries. Better sound accuracy. Being able to use them with Multiple devices simultaneously like playing a backing track on my Cell while using the headset connected to my drumset or keyboard or just using them with the PC and seamlessly take a call on my cell. Being able to volume control audio, calls or music.. Sorry Astro maybe if you get Bluetooth I will give them a shot again next time?

    The BEST Customer support PERIOD

These are not only fantastic headphones, they are unbelievably soft, on the earcups. High quality in nature and rely on a design with modularity so that in heavy use you can replace individual components on the headphones rather than the Entire thing. I have had a few issues with them over the years, such as a broken bridge piece on the headrest, a few broken cables and a broken mic. Astro has replaced all of them for free MULTIPLE TIMES OVER! Even when im out of warranty, they set the golden standard for custom service by FAR out of any company ive ever worked with

    Premium Gaming Headset

I’ll start by saying this headset is huge! Like aviation headset huge. It also feel pretty hefty weight wise. It’s just under a pound, but I don’t know the actual weight. Having said that, these are amazingly comfortable. These are one of the first over the ear headsets I’ve used where my ears don’t actually touch the cushions. They rest almost entirely on your head. Setup was easy. Just plug the USB power cord into either a PC, PS4 or a power brick and rest the headphones in the included charging base. I did notice that if I didn’t set the headset on the cradle just right, it won’t charge. You have to make sure that the charging light on the headset lights up to know it’s set in right. You can download the free Astro Command center app where you can tweak the EQ and other settings. I didn’t mess with that much, but plan to spend more time with it once I get used to the headset. An important note if you are buying these to use with your PS4. These require the use of an optical port for sound. If you own the newer PS4 Slim or Pro (as I do) those systems no longer have an optical port. I dealt with this by purchasing an inexpensive audio extractor. Still it’s a little annoying that Astro’s latest headset does not account for the new PS4 models. Almost as annoying as Sony taking away the optical port. As for the sound, the best word that comes to mind is “immersive”. The highs are crisp and clear, the base is powerful without making your head vibrate. The surround sound effect is incredible as well. I kept wanting to turn my head in the direction of the sounds while gaming. Overall, the A50s are a premium headset at a premium price. However, they are not overpriced for what you get.

SUMMARY This is Astro’s flagship headset that is popular among pro-gamer's that has improved over time sound-wise with software updates, it is compatible with PS4, PC & Mac, has good battery life and can customize sound via an EQ on PC. THE GOOD: Easily switch between console to PC 15 hour battery life Quality Dolby headphone surround sound (NOTE: MAKE SURE YOU UPDATE FIRMWARE!) Battery saver when placed on side Headphone has micro USB (charge while playing) Wireless base station THE BAD: Heavy & clunky Wireless range only around 12 feet The docking station that acts as a charger and wireless transmitter. The base station has inputs for optical audio, as well as optical pass-through and a 1/8” aux input in case you want to plug in another audio source. A switch on the side lets you toggle between your console and your PC, depending on which system you’re using. The headset itself has a 3 way EQ switch on the right ear that lets you toggle between EQ settings that you can customize using an included PC app. There’s also a power switch and a Dolby button for hopping between stereo and surround sound. The right ear exterior is a large rocker that you can use to adjust the game/chat audio balance, and there’s a volume knob located on the bottom of the cup. A chat microphone is attached to the left ear and will automatically mute itself if you swing it all the way up. FINAL THOUGHTS: Good sound and mic makes this a solid option, plus premium features but it does get a little uncomfortable while wearing it long term.

Worse than older Gen 2 A50. Skip these.

I had an Astro A50 Gen 2 before this and this headset is worse in every way other than battery life. Sound is fine. Microphone is a big downgrade. The headset range is much worse. The headband is terrible just google "astro a50 h" and auto complete will do the rest. The dock is WHY? You have to remove any fit adjustment to the headset for the dock to actually charge and then readjust the headset every time to put them back on. I get the marketing, but Is that any time-saving over just plugging it in? The ear-cups don't tilt inwards as much, so instead of evenly applying pressure to your head it's concentrated below your ears and on the headband that will fall off unless you superglue or cable-tie it. Update the firmware if you dare, as it often results in a bricked headset, so if you're a risk taker at least do it within return period. I get it the older Astro A50 were more expensive and that's before counting inflation. But most of those cost cuts could've happened elsewhere because the design and software support failures seem like a ship it & forget it approach on behalf of Logitech.

So coming from the TR40’s i wasn’t expecting much of a difference just wireless ect... boy was i wrong the sound is definitely a NOTICEABLE difference over the wired which shocked me, at one point during a game i was so immersed with the sound i literally got scared... yes SCARED... as grown man who has been gaming for more than half his life this is by far the BEST upgrade or accessorie i have ever purchased.. definitely a ASTRO FAN FOR LIFE.. SIMPLY AMAZING!! Have had numerous other headsets including steelseriez and hyperx THESE A50 gen 4’s are much better, and the fact i can walk downstairs and go to the fridge while wearing em w/o any distortion is ridiculous.. 5 STARS!!!!

I picked these up in November 2021 and have loved them. The sound quality is great and the added features with dolby are amazing. It's been very versatile in swapping between PC and console but my 1 big complaint is that at least once a month or every other month these decide to completely lose sound and I have to do a hard reset on them a few times before gaining audio again. Would've loved giving them 5 stars but due to the constant battle and time wasted each time this issue arises I had to give it a 4.

You will not be disappointed with this headset. I put this headset through the wringer with different audio tests (8-d audio tests sound amazing). All I could find were more pros and believe me I tried to find cons. When people say this headset is comfortable they are understating it is EPICLY comfortable on your ears. The app is very easy to use and clean. I would give this headset more stars if it were possible.

My younger son saved up to buy a gaming PC, so we tried this out on both his gaming PC as well as an Xbox One we've had for a few years. The headset is pretty incredible. The fact that no wires are required, either coming out of the PC or plugged into the Xbox controller is a game changer in terms of freedom of movement. The features that we loved the most include the game/voice balance, Dolby Atmos inclusion, the very long battery life and the customization features via the Astro Command Center. All in all, we would highly recommend this headset.
