    PLEASE READ DO NOT BUY!!

The headset quality and audio is amazing but one thing people are leaving out is that the headset will stop working and connecting to the new Xbox series X you have to go into the headset and take off an update to make it work with the series X and even then it won’t work 100% of the time I’d recommend going with a different headset. Only because this headset does not consistently connect to the Xbox. I was only able to get it connected to the Xbox two times.

    Will never buy Astro again

I will never own another Astro again after my last 2 experiences. I primarily used the A40’s as my go to and it was amazing. Then the newest gen came out and required multiple firmware updates just to use on my xbox. I get all the apps and such on my pc to do it and couldn’t get the updates. Talked to support and the response was “oh well”. Returned the A40 for the A50 and i absolutely hate it. Sound quality isn’t great, mic quality wasn’t great either. For it being wireless I kinda expected that, but that fact it constantly disconnects, sometimes back to back after turning it off then on, other times it’ll go for a few minutes then disconnect again. When I bought it, it was around $300. For that price I had expected something to at the very least stay connected for more than 20min.

    DO NOT BUY

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Please, do not buy this hot piece of garbage. For my many years of gaming, I’ve always been a user of cheap $30-50 headsets that get the job done. After running over the cord of my latest cheap headset I finally decided to splurge a little on an expensive $300 headset thinking I’ll never need to get another one. Boy I could not have been more wrong. Words cannot describe the level of disappointment I had when hearing this headset for the first time. It sounds terrible. And to make matters worse, all my friends asked me why my mic “sounds so bad” the first time I talked to them using the Astro a50. To have spent $300 on I mic for it to perform 10 times worse than a mic that costs a fraction is insulting. This mic sucks in every way shape and form. Plus they try to sell you a $15 dollar monthly charge for Dolby Atmos for it to sound better, as if $300 wasn’t enough in the first place. This headset is the worst purchase you can possibly make, please look at anything else and don’t waste your $300 dollars like I did

Bought this for my husband who plays PS4 daily. They were AMAZING at first, sounded flawless and he LOVED the way you mute; raising and lowering the mouthpiece/mic. That being said, 3 years in and they cut in and out to where his online friends can't even hear him, and the mic lever broke (I guess from being raised and lowered so much?). Now it just hangs there dangling loose. Sad that these are so costly and don't last. For the price, this is unacceptable. You should get top dollar products THAT LAST, when you pay top dollar money. Very disappointed. :(

Had these since 2020, always had issue with these. Really annoying to charge at times, doesn’t connect to stand, software sucks, can’t update software, Astros support is useless, overpriced. I never leave reviews but these gave out on me yesterday.

First off I'll start by saying they look cool and sound really good as if you're in a movie theater. Bad side of it is when I switched to these everyone in my party hears a bunch of echoing and can even hear my in game sound. If you want an alternative, stick with a Razer headset in my opinion as for these sound like garbage if you try to talk to anyone. I am operating windows 11 by the way.

I have had these for 2 years. 1-3 months: Had some on and off (not power) connectivity issues and the included power cable went bad on me. 5 months: Still some mild but constant connectivity issues, but with some fiddling around they eventually pair with the console. 6 months: headband clip will no longer stay engaged. 1 year: Mic will not stay where I want and falls to my chin unless I wedge something between the shell and mic AND if the power cord gets jostled in any way it resets the base, so the micro usb port has likely gone bad. 1.5 years: The metal pins and connectors between base and headset are missing pairing again again. I have to unplug and plug back in every time I start my console up. And here we are. 2 + years in. Device will not update or connect to the base at all. Will not register on my console, laptop, or charge off the base. Plagued Boot loader errors and pairing errors. There is a whole community of people out here who have these issues. And have no sure fire answers to our problems. Save your hard earned money. They’re great when they work but, you are getting played. I have to go buy a new headset tomorrow…

    Defective and poor QC

I bought one for myself and one for my wife, and hers came with a broken headband. Mine refused to be recognized by the 1.6/5 star-rated Astro gaming app. When I returned these to Best Buy, the customer service rep informed me that she's had other people return the A50 for not pairing/being recognized right out of the box. There is no way that a headset that costs $300 should have these issues. And the odds of getting two faulty ones at the same time? Keep in mind the box says "designed for Xbox", so the PC experience seems to be secondary or tertiary at best, even though there is a dedicated PC mode. At least I know to avoid Astro at all costs now!

I have had this headset for about 5 months and it still works great, the only thing bout the headset that you should be aware of before you buy it; The microphone after continual use becomes weak and starts falling without you pushing it, it does not affect the quality of the microphone but it is still an issue. I recommend getting the protection plan that best buy offers on these, due to the microphone.

Headset worked great the first few months; honestly one of the best headsets out there.... when it's working. Unfortunately, that is the issue with these headsets. Eventually, whether sooner or later, they will stop working. It might be a connection issue with the base, or needing to update the headset AND the base, or the fact that you need an extra cable to allow it to charge if you're using them with a ps5; these headphones WILL eventually fail you. If you're a pc gamer, these might actually be a good headset for you. Console players, stay FAR away.
