However, some users experienced connection issues and noted the relatively high price point. The wireless functionality was also a plus for many, although a few mentioned limitations in range. While some found the fit comfortable, others commented on the headset's weight.

    Disappointed

I pondered for a long time wether or not to get these being that the price is very high. In most cases I believe you get what you pay for but I didn’t. Finally decided to replace my aging turtle beach x41’s so that is my only comparison. For me my turtle beach were more comfortable than these. They felt much warmer around my ears also. The sound is great but that’s where the problem is for me. I don’t know yet if I just got a bad one because I just bought it 2 days ago and haven’t had a chance to go back and return it. While playing my headset will loose connection and go completely silent for a second or 2 and it happens a couple times a minute which is completely frustrating. At 300$ these should work flawlessly. I have tried everything I can think of from doing multiple hard resets, changing the channel at which my router broadcast so it’s nowhere near the range these headsets operate at. Firmware is also up to date. If I don’t hear back from them in the next couple days I will be returning and going back to turtle beach. Just don’t see how these are worth 300$.

    Great headset with minor setbacks

Starting with the packaging on the ASTRO A50 Gaming headset, I was very pleased with the box that the headset came in. packaged properly. After opening I inspected the entire headset for any defects or marks and only found a tiny, tiny bit of plastic left on the mic stem end that wasn't trimmed properly. Other than that, it was designed and put together flawlessly. I had set up the Astro A50's with no issues. It wasn't until the 2nd time I charged the headset where I found an issue. I docked the headset and the following day I went to use the A50's, only to find them drained and easily over 100 degrees. They were SMOKING HOT and not charged at all. I quickly removed them, let the headset cool and re-docked. I never had that issue again. Other than that my biggest and most frustrating complaint is that I lose audio on MULTIPLE occasions while gaming with a party. I will lose both audio from the game and also from the party chat. I will be emailing ASTRO to see if I can get a refurbished pair if this is a notorious issue. Now don't get me wrong. I walk around my entire apartment and can continue to talk to my party, it's only until I go outside does the signal drop. The surround sound is AMAZING! I hear things on these Astro A50's my co-gamer's can't even understand how I know where the noise is coming from or if someone is sneaking up on us. This will enhance your game play and make you much more vigil. The sound on this headset is amazing. I came from Turtle Beach headsets and this is clearly an upgrade. I do have minor ear aches similar to my Turtle Beach but not nearly as painful. If you are looking to invest in this headset, DO IT. Just keep your receipt handy in case you decide otherwise in the trial period. I hated coughing up $299 but I know I will not need to replace this headset for a decade.

I've been through so many headsets to find the right sound none worked for me. I knew the Astros was pricey but worth it. I looked at so many reviews on youtube and any other review I could find. Every single person gave it an 8.0 and up rating. And they were not wrong I enjoy it very much i'm a competitive player and it does everything I need it to do. Their wireless too which is awesome! Now i'm thinking to get Mod kit in future

    No mute Toggle!??????

These go really loud. They solved the problem I had with other headsets not being loud enough. But there is no mute toggle! Sure you can lift the mic strait up and then the mic is muted but who in the world wants to do that? There is no cord to plug from headset to controller. This one small tiny thing is HUGE! I have a noisy house and I don't want everyone to hear my noisy house. These are ideal for people that don't have any family or have time to be flipping the mic up and down every single time they want to mute the mic all while playing the game. Taking your hand off the controller to mute the mic takes away from competitive play of course. The comfort is good, but not as comfortable as the Hyper X cloud stinger that are only $50, but lack volume loudness. The controller volume adapter becomes useless since its not connected to the headset. Its hard to believe they made a great headset but left out a very important detail. The creators of the headset must not do any gaming at all. All they would have had to do is provide the option to plug the headset into the controller adapter, thats it, then these would be supreme. Unfortunately I will have to return them for lacking a very basic function. Reminds me of all the TVs out there that don't have headphone jacks. Every TV should have a headphone jack. And every wireless headset should have a optional headphone jack.

    Really Great, however...

So I purchased these with a Two Year protection plan. I took them home, plugged them in to the computer to sync with the software, got them updated, then plugged them into my PS4 to charge because the light on the headset indicating power wasn't even turning on, even to signal it's charging. So I come back after several hours and try to turn them on and they still wound't turn on. I tried plugging them into my PC again and I kept getting an error message saying "Can't sync to headset" or something like that. After an hour or so of rummaging through the TERRIBLE Astro forums about this sort of thing, I decided I'll just have to take them back. So I got another pair(That actually turned on!) and I've been using them for a few weeks now and they're actually really great. The sound quality is better than all the Turtle Beaches I've been using over the years and they're really nice headphones. My ears get a bit achy after wearing them for a few hours, but that's probably just be because I don't use headsets too often, but I'm using these constantly now. The only thing that kind of bugs me is when I place them on the dock to charge, they have to be pretty exact on there and I have to place them on there like 5 times or so to get them to connect correctly. Anyways, it's a solid headset, but be VERY cautious about getting these without a warranty. I read that they start having the issue like mine were down the line, but overall I'd definitely rate these 5/5 if it weren't for that terrible first experience.

Moved to Astro after being a longtime user to Turtle Beach but becoming more and more disappointed with their quality. Coming from Turtle Because I was used to their Ultra Sonic hearing setting that let me hear footsteps amazingly. Out of the box, the Astro's were disappointing with the factory sound settings. After some research and reading numerous forums I found that people referenced several sound settings and configs that were ideal for footsteps. Check out the astro forums for a user named Daredevil792 and his sound confines called Fusion EQ - He has several predefined sound config files for FPS that focus on Footsteps. Once I used his FPS Extreme setting my Astro's came alive and rival the TB.

    The Best Headset Ever!

    Posted .

I have been gaming for over 8 years. I've bought many headsets over the years including Turtle Beaches and Astro A20's. I was very skeptical of A50's because the A20's always cut out on me. I didn't want the same thing happening to me with these, but Best Buy has a 15 day return policy, so how can I go wrong? Well, I'm glad I did buy these. They are expensive, but if you game a lot, these headsets are definitely worth the price. These are loud! The sound is crisp and these have really deep base. These headsets are even great if you want to listen to music or watch TV. If anyone wants to know if you can hear the enemies footsteps when you play Fortnite or COD....... well, lets just say you can hear the enemy's footsteps so far away that you'll need to adjust your bearings. I was hearing enemies over and around mountains... seriously! It was confusing at first because I thought they were actually closer than they were. Final thoughts: If you need that edge of hearing the enemy when you play games, or if you just want to relax and listen to some music, then get these headsets!

This latest version of the Astro A50 are completely wireless - meaning you can play games, watch movies, etc. with the xbox controller off. The sound is really good and it is very customizable (via a computer). Very happy with my purchase and I couldn't recommend them enough for anyone looking for great sounding wireless headphones.

After looking into a few other gaming headsets, I finally decided to just take the splurge with the astro a50s. From the sound quality to the microphone to the comfort and to the durability and looks, the astro a50s are hard to beat. It's overall a GREAT headset and they really are worth the 300$.

I was torn between this headset and the Turtle beach Elite 800s. I don't regret going with these. The sound is great, but sounds a little tinny on certain games. The only negative is that I don't believe the price is right. A little too pricey!

Not worth the money. Left me wanting.

I'm fairly picky when it comes to my headsets. I like to have a pretty large soundstage to easily pinpoint sounds but I like the headset to have some presence in the mids and bass. I'm not looking for audiophile quality of sound for gaming. To me, that makes explosions and the thump of gunfire sound fake. It's ahrd to get immersed in something that sounds flat. I started off with Turtle Beach several years ago and wasn't thrilled with the comfort or the soundstage. My cousin had a set of Astros (on ear without a mixamp, I can't remember the model) and I fell in love! I went out and bought the A40s with the mixamp. I was pretty pleased and still use them as a headset on my computer. But for my PS4 I upgraded to the A50s because I'd heard good things... I've had them for over a year now and I've been looking for a new headset for some time. The sound quality is pretty good and they are pretty comfy (though not as comfy as the A40s). You can hear a lot of the minute details in the games and it's pretty easy to pinpoint where people are on a Call of duty or Battlefield map. But they could be so much better! Mine drop signal every few minutes for a few seconds at a time. Not what you want when you're in a match. The charge doesn't last for more than 3-4 hours. When the battery level drops below half the signal drop happens more often and my friends tell me I sound like Mr. Roboto fairly often when the signal gets wonky. Using the aux input to take phone calls works okay but I have to turn the volume up a lot to be able to hear comfortably so I usually end up taking the headset off to answer a call. I've tried using it to have tunes going while I play and it's about the same so I've nixed that idea all together. All-in-all these are a disappointment. I've had the Sony Gold headset and I'd rather use that over the Astros! My A40s were top notch and still sound great after 6+ years of heavy use. Bottom line - I'd let Astro work out some things before I'd buy these. As much as I want to like the A50s I am just not satisfied.

I wanted a wireless headset with no problems connecting and operating it. This headset is very good sound, looks nice, and is comfortable for less then an hour's usage. Unfortunately I get a headache after about an hour. Sometimes for some reason the power comes on ok but it won't connect or it connects and I can hear the game sounds and chat but no one can hear me. Other times it works just fine. It's about half-half. I have had this set for about 24 days and it doesn't seem to hold a charge. EX. Had it on charge for the last 24 hours. I got home turn on the xbox1. I could hear everything ok and then after 2 minutes it shut off and would not power back up. I then connected it to the charger and get one flashing white light. This indicates to me that the battery is discharged. I now have it plugged into the charger instead of sitting on it making contact. So overall this set is not only unreliable, I can't return it to the store because it's over 14 days. So for $300 I have a new headset that won't charge. I would not recommend anyone buy this headset. This is way overpriced Junk!

I have been trying to get my hands on this product for a long time, and now i finally have it! I recommend this headset to anyone willing to fork over the devastating amount that it costs. My only issue is the mic should be a better quality than what it is for the price of the headset. Now, I am not fishing for views, but.. if you would like to listen to the mic for yourself, so you can be the judge, i posted a video on this product on YouTube and 7 MINUTES IN is the mic section of the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-h5bfliQNw

For how expensive these are they are a true pain connect to the charging dock. These are heavy, I mean very heavy. Your fitment adjustments slide right down so you're adjusting them back fairly often and I usually can't get the headset to even dock properly unless I put them at their largest setting. Sound is great, mic is great chat/game balance is convenient. Ear pads are soft and comfortable until the heavy headset slides out of adjustment from the weight and your ears are holding up the headset instead of the headband.

Initial set up was fine and quick. Audio quality is pretty standard. Comfort is amazing. My main issue is that this thing, outside of a quick start guide, has no real directions. I bought this for an Xbox One. It really should be pretty straight forward for a console accessory, but nope. It somehow unpaired. Ok... common issue with headphones... but the headache comes with trying to fix it. There are no real directions on how to quickly and simply re pair the headphones with base... So you have to go on their website... not helpful at all. Had to go and Google search for some basic troubleshooting resolutions... Which involves downloading software on a PC and all of this nonsense. I am sorry, but if you are making console accessories, you need to make these resolutions not dependent on a PC and easily accessible on your site. I would not recommend to a friend. Some people are not tech savvy. Some people do not own a PC. Others are children, with parents are busy. And others, like myself, just want to come home pop the headphones on and play games. Not spend an hour doing all of this. 3 for overall quality. Really want to give it a 2 star for the headache, but I will be reasonable.
