Certainly understand your disappointment with the Chromebook if you are experiencing overheating and sability issues.
It is normal for the charger or AC adapter to generate more heat while charging.
The system freeze or stability issue may be an internet service or connection related. Since this is a web-based computer, please verify if the laptop has access to a stable and a high-speed internet service. Poor internet service or connection will definitely cause system stability and performance. Also, ensure the unit is running with the most current OS update.
