Computer keeps freezing because low memory

My son uses it for school. This is unacceptable. Memory is too low to be able to use for school online learning.

Acting up after less than 2 months

Unfortunately it's past the return period so I have to schedule an appointment for repair in a store.

Indeed, it is a great deal for its pricetag.
Certainly understand your disappointment and the inconvenience this may have caused you if the Chromebook started freezing and doing an auto-shutdown randomly after a month of use.
All ASUS products undergo intensive quality control testing and inspections, this is a random problem. Normally, ASUS provides one year warranty coverage, if product was purchased brand-new, in order to fix or repair any hardware or, part that stop working prematurely under normal usage.
To resolve the auto-shutdown issue, please make sure the battery has an ample amount of charged life. Also, please do not run any power-hungry software or application. Running these applications will cause auto-shutdown when battery life is running low.
The Chromebook may go into hibernate mode when idle for a long time, pressing and holding down the power button will usually wake it up.
