    Great little low power laptop!

I purchased this to program my UAV (drones) while I'm out in the field and it works very well in that capacity. I also use it for basic web surfing, email, social media, Youtube and Netflix and it works very well at those tasks also. I took it to work on Monday to test it's endurance. I disabled it from going to sleep and it ran from 6:30AM to 4:45PM and still had almost 30% charge left after 10 hours online. I'm sure it could have gone another hour and beyond if I had let t run. It's always cool to the touch and some will complain about it easily collecting fingerprints on the body, but that's not a concern to me. I recommend that you purchase an SD card of at least 16GB to store your documents, downloads and such as it has an on-board slot for it.Google "redirect folders in windows" so that you can point folders to the sd card. After installing Office 365 (which runs great!), Adobe Reader and my UAV software I was left with 7.5GB of space on the c: drive. So far so good and I highly recommend it!

    Nice machine

Only used this for a few hours so far but have a good idea of how it compares to my Chromebook (Acer C710). This Asus is really well put together for a cheap Windows lappy and functions exactly how I thought it would. Nice keyboard, great touchpad and decent display. The Chromer is definitely a lot faster while browsing but the XT205 gets the job done. I'm gonna use this to back up my old Chromer and use for those rare occasions when I need Windows. So far, I would recommend this machine to anyone that needs a nice light portable web browser that is not ready to make the Chrome jump. Almost forgot, I love the pinch to zoom touchpad and wish my Chromebook had this very handy feature!!!! $149.99 is a great deal and $129.99 was a steal!

Windows 10 Upgrade turns PC into a Brick

Will NOT complete Windows 10 Upgrade. 2/3 way through upgrade, the ASUS says it does NOT have enough memory, and requests inserting microSD or USB drive w/ 9GB to complete (which I do). It gets to the last step (the circle) and stops ~17-18% through, and then attempts to reinstall the prior OS. Message: Your PC needs to be repaired. Error: 0xc0000225, F8: file\windows\System32\winload.efi , Error: 0xc0000001 The W10 Upgrade was the 1st thing I did after the initial Setup. This is the 2nd unit with this problem. I return the 1st to BestBuy. I had similar problem, except Error: 0x0000225, F8: file\windows\System32\halmacpi.dll ; HAL missing or contained errors. PC is totally worthless afterwards. Neither Geek Squad nor ASUS support could help, with both recommending to return PC. 0 for 2; Must be ASUS design or W10 Upgrade issue. I have not had problems upgrading 2 separate 5 year old W7 PCs. If it had W10, it was potentially a 5-star (considering price) for very light computing and travelling. It has a great, light form factor, and terrific battery life.

I researched this laptop and it was also on sale at Best Buy, so, I thought great deal. Quite frankly, I never thought I'd be one of these people writing to say that this thing just stopped working after 13 days, but it did. My needs were very simple with this machine. Surf the internet. Watch You Tube. That's about it and it died. Overall, when it did work, it was okay -- I thought that the touchpad was a little clunky and you have to be in a direct line of sight to see the screen for the best resolution. I get that it's not an expensive machine but it should have worked better and lasted longer.

Intrigued by the form factor and price, I bought this from BB in December when it was on a special sale for 149. It has a very nice compact size, and AFAICT, a full-sized keyboard. For the price, it is quite an amazing deal. If you just want to surf around and check email I don't think I could recommend better. However, when you ask it to do more, it ultimately falls short, things like Netflix movies slightly off. I returned it In another generation or 2 this space hopefully will be great.

Good Laptop for Broke College Student

This little laptop has been a life-saver for me in my freshman year of college. It doesn't hold much so a flash drive is a must but it is perfect for research and writing essays and various homework assignments. The speakers could be better and they really don't play sound very loudly but I got a pair of separate speakers that fix that problem. It plays Netflix and YouTube videos beautifully, though, and it hasn't slowed down despite downloading Word programs and Firefox.

I got this at a great price and it's more than suitable for my needs. I use it to document home visits, check email, browse the internet and similar light activities. It's prefect. For basic word processing, email, internet, this works. It's very light and thin. It's prone to getting fingerprints, but otherwise, no complaints. Asus did a good job.

Best thing I have bought! For $150, I can get all my job done . Got one for my brother - and great because the storage space limits kids from downloading crazy things. Should the kid catch virus - no problem - rebuild takes only an hour. Upgrade to 10 runs smoothly for a device that runs 2 GB of RAM. Damaged it too? No heartache to grab another.

Does everything I need it to for a budget laptop. Fast boot up, good battery life, responsive keyboard. Has enough memory for word processing, web surfing and even streaming mlb and netflix (just not at the same time). Would recommend to anyone who needs a basic Windows laptop for a low price.

I've read other reviews - and took a chance on my getting one from the good batch, and found it on sale for $145. It's a little smaller than what I want but it's perfect for my school need. Had it for 11 days now and recently experiencing some snags. Main usage is for school with everyday net surfing. Found out that certain apps freezes it up so I limit what I download. But then it froze on me today while on FB and yahoo mail so seriously reconsidering. If I run into other problems by the end of this week I'll be returning it. Performance wise it could be better but I do like the size and feel of this laptop.

    Awesome Cheap Laptop

I bought this laptop for college and it's performing very well. The best part is, it comes with a free upgrade to Windows 10. It took me about 2-3 hours to upgrade, but it was worth the wait. The only down side is how much space there is on the laptop. I recommend getting a micro sd. Overall, this is one of the best laptops I bought.

Its ability to play media and its overall lightweight and compact design is outstanding. I was semi-worried about how small it was while ordering, but the proportion was fine. There is plenty of room available to type but still has the laptop feel while typing. The tactile feedback from the keys on the keyboard make typing feel a little more like you are on a conventional desktop. Overall a great product. Although you wouldn't buy this to game in any fashion. Don't forget to purchase a USB for added storage capacity.

I bought this laptop for business use when I travel. All of my work is web based, so I didn't need anything with a lot of storage. I have been using it for almost 3 months now, and am still happy with my purchase.

Purchased this unit for my fiancé for web browsing. My fiancé uses the unit almost every night and has no issues surfing the web. It's small and light enough to put on your lap. the unit also doesn't produce ridiculous amounts of heat like others. Overall great product. Would buy for web browsing purposes because the unit is not strong enough to run professional programs.

Bought for my husband, who is not computer savvy, to use for basic internet surfing. Has windows 8.1, tried to update to windows 10 before first usage and after 2 hours still not upgraded. But as long as he can get to the internet and youtube he is good. On the small side but extremely light.
