Okay Notebook for a beginner

When I tried to turn it on the next morning, it would not power up. I had to hurriedly go buy another in-store computer. I returned the ASUS upon my return without issue.

I certainly understand your disappointment with the product and the inconvenience if you are experiencing issue charging the battery. If the battery will not charge, please verify if the AC adapter was properly connected from the laptop to a working surge protector or AC outlet. Also, please try to refresh the battery or do a battery calibration manually, by charging the battery without power on and the laptop not being used. Once fully charged, use the unit without the AC adapter connected until it completely drained. If this is not possible, disconnect the AC adapter and fully-drained it, leave it unplug or at least 24 hours then charge it fully without the system power on and being used. Please repeat this process a couple of times. If the problem persisted and you need further assistance, please email me at [email protected] and I would be more than happy to help.

I would highly recommend that you check for any available Windows Updates. You can do so by going to Settings> Update and Security> Windows updates> Check for updates. If the unit is fully updated and the issue continues you can try a refresh on the notebook. The refresh will not remove any files or personal data but it will delete any apps or programs that did not come with the notebook. To do the refresh please go to Settings> Updates and Security> Recovery > click Get Start under Reset This PC and select the option that says keep my files. If you are accessing web applications, please make sure the unit has access to an established router and internet service is working properly since this will definitely affect system speed and performance. Certainly, the unit was designed as an entry-level computer that runs basic and light computing applications like web-surfing, emailing and word-processing without compromising system stability and performance. This issue is temporary during the initial WINDOWS setup and before installing cumulative WINDOWS Update, regardless what brand name of computer this may be. This may take a longer time depending on the network traffic from the update server and the stability of your high-speed internet service. Once initial setup and WINDOWS Update installation completed, system speed or performance will be optimized. In order to maintain optimum system stability and performance, cumulative WINDOWS Update needs to be installed periodically. If you are accessing web applications, please make sure the unit has access to an established router and internet service is working properly since this will definitely affect system speed and performance. Excellent Budget Laptop

At the sale price of 139, there is nothing else that comes close. It's a full featured Windows 10 machine for less than the price of a Chromebook. It has the look and feel of a more expensive notebook. Does not feel like a cheap toy like the HP Stream 11.6" notebooks. Keyboard is small, but full featured with good tactile feedback. I generally hover around 100 WPM, and on 10 fast fingers testing I was getting approximately 90 WPM. I have an Alienware 17.3 as my primary laptop but it weighs a ton. I use this as my travel laptop, or if I need to type a quick document for work. I'm sitting on my couch right now using this laptop to type this review right now. Gaming wise, don't expect to play Battlefield or COD on here, but this thing is an absolutely perfect retro emulation machine. Everything up to and including Dreamcast runs at full speed. Also plays 1080p MKV/H.264 files flawlessly in Kodi/VLC. Also has HDMI and USB-C which is surprising for a budget laptop. I've only found two down sides. First is obviously the limited storage space. If you are going to exit out of Windows S mode, you should have at minimum, a 128GB MicroSD card for storage. Second is the screen is HD, but only 720p (1366x768) and the viewing angles are not what you'd get on an IPS screen, but for 139 bucks what do you expect. I bought one of these before an overseas trip 2 weeks ago so I wouldn't have to carry my behemoth Alienware in my suitcase. I was so impressed by how convenient this thing is I just decided to purchase a second one to keep on the living room coffee table just in case I need to access the web or do any quick computing. Unbelievable value in this budget notebook.

In order to improve or prolong the battery charged time, please try to do a battery calibration manually. To start with, please drain it completely then charge it fully without using the system. Once fully-charged, please use the system, without the AC adapter connected, and drain it completely again. Please repeat the charging process thereafter. Also, please verify if the unit is running with the most current system update and third-party battery draining applications are not running if not in used. The laptop comes with a WINDOWS 10 S version, which was intended for speed, simplicity and security.
