Great specs for a great price!

Has great specs and does exactly what i need it to do. It has a back lit keypad and is NOT a touch screen which is exactly what I needed!

It has a very nice display, easy keyboard to type with, and the mouse works smoothly. It does what I need it to do without being splashy about it.

We do understand your disappointment with the keyboard color contrast and the inconvenience this may have caused.
In order to improve the color contrast with the keys, it is recommended to turn off the keyboard backlit or adjust the keyboard brightness level while working in a well illuminated room or area, by tapping the hotkeys, "Alt + dim(small brightness icon)", repeatedly. If this doesn't work for you, please consider using a keyboard cover or skin.

Pure garbage

Purchased this one as a replacement with promise "10hr Battery Life". NO! it goes from 100% to 0% within 2 hours of use. Checked performance - battery lost 30% of charge while laptop was completely off. Microsoft Edge is a huge step back from Windows 7-8.

We certainly understand your concern regarding the short battery life. In order to improve or prolong the battery charged time, please try to do a battery calibration manually. To start with, please drain it completely then charge it fully without using the Chromebook. Once fully-charged, please use the laptop, without the AC adapter connected, and drain it completely again. Please repeat the charging process thereafter. Also, please verify if the Chromebook is running with the most current OS update.

Incorrect specs = disappointment

The specs list it as having a touchscreen, but it in fact does not. Additionally, the keyboard is impossible to read unless you’re using it in the dark. The keyboard is silver with vaguely translucent letters. It’s incredibly hard to see what the keys are in the daylight or with room lighting on. The specs say this does not have a backlit keyboard, but it does. Using this in the pitch black with the backlit keyboard was the only way I could easily discern the keyboard keys. I’m returning both Chromebooks. I’m incredibly disappointed that Best Buy got the specs incorrect – how are you supposed to know what you’re buying when they can’t even get the details correct in the listing? Because of this, I missed out on the early Black Friday deals for other Chromebooks I was considering. Looks like my parents aren’t getting a Chromebook for Christmas.

All ASUS products undergo intensive quality control testing and inspections, these are random problems. The computer and AC adapter or charger will be hotter while simultaneously the battery is being charged and the laptop being used. Regarding the color contrast of the keys, it is recommended to turn it off or adjust the keyboard brightness level while working in a well illuminated room or area, by tapping the hotkeys, "Alt + dim(small brightness icon)", repeatedly.
ASUS provides one year warranty coverage, if product was purchased brand-new, in order to fix or repair any hardware or part that stop working prematurely under normal usage. We recommend sending it in for service to have it checked. Don't buy this Notebook

It won't turn on & I brought it to a computer tech who said it's junk and he can't fix it. I barely used it and I know it was inexpensive but I expected it to last at least a year! Don't buy this!

Frustrating issues 2 weeks in

It is still unclear. The computer has died and will not charge (the charger indicator light is also not coming on). We’ve confirmed the charger itself works on other devices.
