She was on it day and night. 2 - 3 weeks in, it stopped working! It wouldn't turn on anymore. I didn't purchase the $200 Best Buy warranty because it was twice as much as the Chromebook. I still don't know what happened. It worked fine until it didn't.

We certainly understand the incovenience this may have caused.
If the Chromebook will not power on, boot up or it's just black screen, please do the following. Please try to do a power cycle by pressing and holding down the power button to shut it down completely. If it still black screen after a few minutes, at least 10 minutes, please repeat the power cycle process again. If the laptop is applying updates in the System Registry, it will black screen temporarily until the update were applied successfully. Also, please try to disconnect the power cable and let the unit drain for 24 hours to clear the memory. This will reset the hardware to default settings. After doing this, please reconnect your AC adapter, do not power on the laptop until the battery was charged.

It keeps saying "Chrome OS is missing or damaged. I followed the steps online and restored it back to factory settings and the the same message came up again a couple days later. Too late for a best buy return. This thing is trash.

We certainly understand your disappointment and the inconvenience this may have caused.
If the Chromebook will no longer bootup and shows up a missing OS error, please try to do a Power wash using the hotkeys, "Shift + Ctrl + Alt + R". Reboot or power on the unit then hit the hotkeys to enter in to Power wash. If this is not possible, please try to bootup from a Chrome OS Recovery image using a USB drive. For instructions on how to create the recovery media, please go to the Google Support website at: https://support.google.com/chromebook/answer/1080595?hl=en. If these were performed to no avail, we recommend sending the Chromebook in for service. A RMA number is required for the product in order to send it in for service. The Chromebook comes with a Chrome OS, not an Android OS, However, it is compatible with Android appplications that are available for download at the Google Play Store.

Went to bed with the battery at 80% and woke up with a black screen. It wouldn't charge, it wouldn't respond to a hard reset, it was bricked.
