    Basic Compact Laptop

This is my all time favorite form factor for a traveling laptop. Big enough to see what you are doing and small / light enough to easily carry around. Before I go on, this is a very basic machine and suited for "light / casual use" Running more than one thing at a time can really bog down the system. This being said, if you are on a tight budget and only need access to email, web browsing, and light word processing, the Asus 14" FHD Laptop is a good choice. This has a lay flat screen and does not fold over completely backwards. The display is pleasant and bright enough to enjoy streaming content. As for sound, considering the price point it is good but much better with external speakers or ear buds. Charging is with a barrel connector and wall wart style transformer. I really wish this was USBC to make it compatible with just about everything else I have but I can understand this decision was possible due to cost. Not the end of the world but if I could change one thing that would be it. The form factor is quite satisfying in the hand. The cover seems to be metal and the base plastic. I am often concerned about rigidity but not with this unit. Picking it up by the corner does not affect the touch pad or produce false inputs. Actually feels quite solid! Using the keyboard is pleasant and the keys have good response and feel. The star of the show is the touch pad which doubles as a number pad. This works quite well but is hard to "touch type" as you are pressing a spot on a fairly smooth surface and keeping your hand in place without looking is not that easy. That being said, the one thing about this size of laptop is the lack of a number pad. I must say this is a nice feature for any small form factor laptop.

If your looking for a gaming laptop this is not the laptop for you. You can play very very basic games but this is the laptop you get for someone that is looking for a very beginner latop just to get them one. If you looking for a latop for your parrents or grandparents for basic stuff like getting on the internet, checking there E-Mail sending pictured of christmas or a birthday then this is your laptop. Now i only gave it 3 out of 5 stars not because of it being a bad laptop but because it's a very basic laptop. You not going to toss Diablo 4 orMonster hunter on here and be doing some 180 FPS gaming no to mite get the game to load but with the size of the Hard drive you mite only get the one game installed. And it mite load but most definatly you will be getting 1 to 2 frames per second. Out of the box it's very easy to setup and update. Just make sure you have it connected to your internet and about 30 to 45 minutes to have the updates installed and updated on your system. Like i said if your looking for a very basic system this laptop will get the job done. It's only downfall for a basic system is the amount of hard drive space on the system. I get it they have to cut cornners to make it more afordable but i think the hard drive space is one of the most important items you need for any system. I can recomend this system but for a limited crowd that is looking to send/receive emails and get on the internet.

Light weight fast charging good price

Probably one of the best deals for the price I have seen in a long time. Lightweight, though it almost feels cheap due being basically all plastic built. Has lots of good features and potential uses for such an affordable laptop. Battery is fast to charge and has decent life so far, though I am not holding out a lot of hope on that, as most battery life claims, off charger, are greatly exaggerated. I will assume this will be the case on this one as well. The claim is 10 hours. I have not timed this yet. At this price, I do not expect much. I like the windows system in a cheap laptop vs chrome book. Plenty of memory and power. It does seem to want you to operate it within that OS and has hoops to jump through to use different browsers and downloads. It does the job perfectly fine for what I am using it for. Preinstalled with Office. I usually like to use Chrome over Bing, but if you want that, you have to switch out of Windows 11 S to home version. Apparently, you can't undo that and using that system will use up more space, so I am just leaving this as a basically box stock laptop for what I use it for. Screen brightness and clarity are average or better. I really wish it had a backlit keyboard. I feel like that is an under rated or underappreciated feature that is very useful for me due to my tendencies of using these in low light situations or rooms. Numeric touch pad with on/off toggle is kinda cool and saves keypad space. Set up out of the box took a lot longer than I have experienced with other laptops, but not a big issue since its only on initial startup. In summary, well worth the price for what it offers. Many pros, some cons, but not enough to pass up.

    What you need to know

This is a very budget machine, its main flaw is the display, very low resolution and really bad angles of view, you have to be looking at it at the perffect angle for it not to look completely washed out. The built is good, sturdy machine, but the internal components are lacking, the limited processor, the low ram and very little storage. Not recommended, you can find similar priced machines that offer more.

Nice cheap machine for running a lightweight Linux

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

A steal for the price, but know what you are getting. Plan on spending another $50-$75 on a 500GB or larger SSD, but the slot is present for it and it is easy to install (you will need to provide the screw, though). The screen is pretty bad. but okay for non-photo office-type work indoors. 4GB is not enough memory for Windows 11, and it's a bit sluggish. I was pleasantly surprised, however, to find that Linux ran "out of the box" on this machine with no hiccups. I bought this machine to run a stripped-down "distraction free" set of programs (writing, coding -- no web/youtube/facebook), and it will do nicely.

OK if you want a Windows feel

Unboxing – The packaging is very plain but that’s what I would expect. Basically a box with all of the accessories you need to use. They are packaged well and seem to be well-protected for shipment. Touch and feel – As laptops go it’s pretty light as compared to most full-function (more on that in a bit) laptops but a bit heavier than a Chromebook. The keyboard and trackpad are sturdy and the keys have a bit of a tactile feel when depressed – much like any other laptop. The number pad capability on the trackpad is a nice feature however did not use it as much as I thought on this system. The only real issue I had in this category is that the lid does not have a very sturdy feel always felt like there was a lot of flex on the screen when I opened and closed it. Setup - not sure why every Windows PC (yes even with the Windows S mode) takes 2 days' worth of updates (maybe exaggerating a bit but it seems way too long). After setup things were ready – not the usual bloatware that you get with others. Did take a bit of research to get the basic app and software functionality on the system and Windows 11 S handles things a bit differently. But once I got through that everything functioned as I would expect. Functionally – let me start by saying if you expect Windows laptop-type functionality here you will be very disappointed. Windows 11 s, while it looks like Windows the performance is more along the lines of a Chromebook and a lower-end one at that. I did notice some major performance issues in internet browsing and some large Excel files – that said it did perform all of the basic functions of email, word, and some light PowerPoint with no issues. I was able to do some picture clean up but video editing chokes the system. I didn’t find anything that it would do but several apps you could tell push the limits of its capability. I believe this is a mix of the Windows S capabilities and system hardware constraints. Before I leave this just a word about Windows S – if you only use apps from the apps store then it works fairly well – anything outside of that can be a problem. Bottomline – if you expect a Windows laptop performance you’ll be disappointed – if you want a Chromebook price with a Windows feel then this would be the ticket. My recommendation would be to just go for a Chromebook instead.

Reviews are up and down for a standard laptop with nothing super crazy about it but for the price point i decided to get it as mine was old and done for. Im absolutely pleased with this laptop and what it does for me. Theres a few games i play on it (nothing crazy older online games)and it does what i need. Everyone says the multiple tab issue causing it to be freezing and slow. I also use it for tuning my vehicles aswell and its so nice. But in terms of freezing I havent had that yet with my schooling im doing and i usually have 4 tabs open. All in all it does exactly what i need it to for the basics. So if you dont need anything crazy and basic absolutely grab this especially on sale.

Laptop advertises as 64gb storage and 4gb ram. Unfortunately Windows 11 uses 51gb storage and 3.4gb ram to run, apparently. The laptop lags when using the web. Not worth more than $125, but I paid 90$ so I'm not mad.
