Seen a good deal on this laptop as an open box item with great rating. Thought i would take a chance and buy it because it was in good driving distance to have a 1 hr pick up. All that was fine. When getting home and opening the box, I just noticed that all I had was the laptop and no charging cable. Just wish best buy would do a better job in letting customers know what they will be getting in each purchase. Haven't really got to use the laptop yet as I'm looking for the right charger for it.

First time buy of an ASUS product. The wifi adapter started to have problems after a month. Did every solution possible, even letting Geek Squad fix it. Two weeks later, it started having these problems again. I don't know if I bought a defective product or not. I did not drop it or damage it throughout my use at home or at university. I don't know the cause either. It's either a driver issue or a hardware one. So when it works, it's great. It didn't for me so I'll give it 2/5 for now.

Not very fast and battery heated up after a couple hours of use.

I bought this for its Black Friday sale price and couldn't have been happier. Runs most of my games at medium or high without any issues at all. The SSD on this laptop is crazy fast too! It's also rather light and thin for what it is. I thought it was going to be a giant brick of plastic but it's fairly light and thin. The battery life is also a little better than I expected it to be! If you baby it with low brightness and Windows animations disabled, you could get past 4 ish hours. Overall there are no major issues to be concerned about this laptop. There are a few tiny ones though. Although it is advertised as a military-grade piece of hardware, at the end of the day it's just thick plastic, not cheap feeling, but not premium either. The screen is also rather flimsy? It's kinda worrying, to be honest. You can easily bend it and flex it a bit. But it's not a major issue really, especially if you're gonna hook this up to an external display. Overall it's great and you get for what you pay for. The sale price on this is such a steal.

I’m sure it works fine. I returned it because it wouldn’t work for what I needed which was oculus.

I bought this laptop for gaming. I really wanted at least a 120hz monitor, I saw some reviews complaining that one of the more expensive gaming laptops was only 60hz, but i didn't see any of those reviews on this laptop and the associated ad said it was "up to 144hz" and that was the only information on the product page about the refresh rate so I assumed that that would be the refresh rate. Well i received the laptop on the 27th and when i was setting it up i saw that it only went up to 60hz. I tried to contact customer service but all I was told was to go talk to the geek squad in a store, which was closed because of thanksgiving. I thought it might be a problem with the drivers or settings so i spent 2 whole days playing with the bios and the settings and installing drivers, only to stumble across the fact that this laptop is only 60hz. I don't think i've ever been so disappointed in a purchase before, and i feel like now everytime i use this laptop im going to always have the bad taste in my mouth from being misled. Terrible experience

it's a good laptop but its bulky had to return it and bought another one ..

I purchased this on Black Friday 2019. The laptop ran great for a year and half, and suddenly started shutting off in July of 2021. I replaced battery, monitored CPU temperature, even upgraded RAM and it now won't even turn on. Obviously a major issue (maybe with the motherboard). It's unknown how to even go about fixing it. It's a gaming computer and I never even used it at high speeds. Very sad because design is flawless and durably built. Just hard to believe it died in less than 2 years. I still have a 15 year old IBM computer that runs.

Underperformed expectations, loud and oh so very hot

I just purchased this today, so this review is a one hour first impression. Speaking as someone upgrading from an old Dell laptop with integrated 450 chipset, this is amazing. I could list all the pros, but everyone else pretty much has. So I'm only going to list the one thing that bothered me. It's the fan. It's louder than expected, but then again, it's a gaming laptop and perhaps that's expected. My old i3 Dell laptop was slower sure, but whisper quiet compared to this machine. I've not even played any AAA titles on it yet and it sounds like a jet reving to take off. But take my complaint with a grain of salt. It's got a decent NVidia chipset. I'd rather have ample cooling with a good fan than to let this thing get hot. And that I can say hasn't happened yet. Not even close. The laptop itself is almost cool to the touch. Great machine, very nice design. Nothing awkward about the keyboard. I wish they supplied optional keycaps for the WASD keys. Overall nice styling without being stupid. It's just louder than expected.

The speed was great but apart from that it was a total failure. Trackpad was unstable, worked when it wanted to.. the keyboard was a soft mess.. and the most annoying part to me was the screen colors.. I ended up returning the laptop.

I got this laptop in December with my graduation money and did heavy research on this one. After watching, reading, and so much research I found that this laptop was the best one for what I needed to do. After one month the laptop begin having the Blue Screen of Death. I updated the drivers and even factory reset the thing but get the same problem. If you need a laptop for about a month I recommend this one.

Sorry, it's a lemon. By far the worst laptop I've ever purchased. We've had to send it back to ASUS twice for fan grinding issues We're about to send it back again for that, plus the screen hinge is ripping itself apart. It also lags and doesn't perform nearly as well as other similarly spec'd models.

It was a good computer and lasted for about a year until the right hinge on the screen completely destroyed itself

Bought this a year ago and the keyboard light doesnt come on. The computer is so slow now just to open and close an app like the internet. I use this computer mostly for school. Rarely play games on it. It cannot handle an HDMI connected it runs at 2 frames in 30 seconds. Its so terrible. Cannot handle college use or normal use after just 1 year.

I bought this on black Friday and thought it was a great deal, until I unboxed and booted it for the first time. The fan on the right side makes an unbearable whistling noise. I will return it tomorrow for a replacement. If the replacement is fine, I will delete this review.

This laptop has been amazing! At first I thought that there was a catch to this laptop, but for $579 THIS THING IS AMAZING! I am able to play Gears 5 at 60fps at High settings 1920x1080. I am able to play COD Modern Warfare 2019 at 60fps at High settings 1920x1080. I would recommend people to buy a second stick of memory. This laptop is running in single channel out of the box. BUY THIS LAPTOP!

very loud. broken less then 1 year. I can't recommend this product. The screen was washed out and had a blue tint. Adjusting display settings didn't affect it. I don't know if it was defective or if this is just the way screens look on budget laptops, but if you're looking for a laptop to watch videos or edit photos, I wouldn't recommend this one.

When the laptop is plugged in it makes a very loud rattle on the right side of the computer. not sure what it is but when I turn the setting to "silent" it does get quiet. I should have purchased an HP. This Asus is a very nice looking computer if only the noise was not there I would keep it.
