Recently in to Best Buy looking for a new laptop computer to replace my aging Chromebook. I just built myself a high end spec gaming specific desktop PC a few months ago, so gaming on a laptop was not my primary reason or use, but more of a bonus perk. Truth be told, I had low expectations for a sub $600 laptop capable of gaming, but actually ended up pleasantly suprised. This laptop is capable of running Eve Online, World of Warcraft, Diablo III, Destiny 2, and Guild Wars 2 at mid to high range graphic settings with reasonable fps. This was literally just a snap purchase without a lot of research done before hand. I looked at the specs and the price and figured it would suit my needs. After taking a second deeper look later, I realized the RAM can be expanded from 8GB to 32 GB which is a great bonus. I would have prefered a 1TB hard drive, but the 500GB SSD drive is adequate but games will eat up space quickly. So far overall performance it really good. Muilti-tasking with chrome web browser open browsing 5 tabs with Netflix running in one tab, background processess running Discord, Twitch, iCUE, Gog Galaxy running installing 8 games, and my CPU usage is at 14-20% and RAM usage at 60% and Swap Usage at 85%. Windows 10 is still responsive and quick with opening and browsing the Start Menu and opening folders, copying small files, viewing pictures, etc. Being a gamining computer, this one has an app called Armoury Crate that lets you adjust and tailor the performace of the laptop, options like Cooling, CPU Performance, Noise Reduction, GPU performance, and Energy Saving. It also has AURA SYNC and internal fan settings. The TUG GAMEVISUAL app has a variety of presets for color temps for Racing, Scenery, RTS/RPG, FPS, Cinema, Eyecare, and Vivid. I really liked watching The 100 on Netflix on this laptop with the RTS/RPG setting. Screen was crisp, movie was clear. I am not an adiophile. The sound was good enough for me through the stereo speakers. This laptop has two GPU's. It has the higher performance Nvidia GTX 1650 4GB card and a on chip CPU intigrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 For those who care (Linux Users), wifi is a Intel Wireless-AC 9462 with the Realtek PCIe Gbe Family Controlle. This laptop does have Bluetooth. Cons: While I am happy with the overall performance, I'm not a big fan of the build quality. The plastic feels cheap and flexes a lot. From tapping on the left side of the mouse tough pad, it sounds like there is dead space and it flexes a lot through the keyboard. The keypad layout is small and cramped due to the inclusion of a number pad, which is completely unnecessary. I would have rather had an 80% TKL.

    Great budget gaming laptop

For $579 black Friday pricing this laptop is an absurd deal. Most laptops with similar specs go for $800-$1000. Some much weaker laptops at Best Buy with 1050 TI are in that price range. Great cooling, small and portable, smashes every game I've tried with way beyond 60 FPS on all max settings (mind you this is 1080P and the 1650 and later gen GPU are kinda OP for 1080P). The cons are mentioned already and related to where they cut costs to give this great deal. Only 8 Gigz single channel RAM and no HDD, just the SSD. I already upgraded the ram to 16 GB dual channel. Now just gonna add a hard drive later. For reference, it takes a 2.5" hard drive, has an empty slot for it that's extremely easy to access.

Purchased on Black Friday at a decent discount. Without getting into laptops that cost over a grand, this is a decent option for the money. Per usual, laptops aren't the best investment over time, but if gaming on the go is your thing, this is a solid option. Won't play most modern games on high settings, but it still gets by.

I bought this laptop because it was on sale for an affordable price and my previous laptop was pretty old so it was time for an upgrade. It can run games like outer worlds and halo but sounds like a jet engine and gets really got so i just stick with Left 4 Dead and older steam titles. I do use it for work mostly and im definitely happy with it.

Luckily I bought it before the sale ended, but if you ever see it discounted, don't hesitate! I'm using the laptop for school and gaming and I haven't had a problem so far. Runs smoothly on high settings on all the games I've played so far (Destiny 2, CS:GO, League of Legends, Spyro, COD). Also really like the keyboard :)

    Good with a few caveats

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

We bought this for our coding-and-gaming-crazy son, and overall, it's been a good purchase. A few caveats, however: - The fan gets dirty very easily, and requires frequent cleaning - This model, with the I5, doesn't handle the most demanding games well - We are in the process of buying a new cord, as the original frayed to the point of creating sparks (and a fire hazard)--not good after just two years Again, overall, a good purchase, but these are definitely worth factoring in.

Well I have only just unboxed it and am currently in the process of setting it up. But already the backlighting on the space bar doesn't work. So, not off to a great start. Last thing I want to do is take something back and wait for a new one that I will also have to set up.

    Awful Laptop

I bought this laptop in August of 2019. A couple days after having the computer, it started crashing and going to the BIOS screen. I took it in to best buy and they told me it had to be from the new windows update and to wait it out until it stopped. Flash forward 11 months later and this laptop is CONSTANTLY crashing and going to the blue screen of death and/or BIOS. I have tried everything to fix it but it consistently crashes. We are talking at least 3 times a week. I am pretty sure i never bought insurance so im out of almost $1,000 and do not have the money to get a new computer before fall semester begins. This is my first experience with an ASUS computer and I am not impressed. I will not be buying this brand again.
