I thought wrong. I was advised by a computer professional to return this computer because I would not be happy with it after a year or 2 of use. I wasnt very fast to begin with and would only get slower after extended usage. I will not get anything less than an Intel i5 and SSD for two reasons: Quality and Performance.

This one did and I read the reviews which was mostly positive and lead to my decision to purchase and shy away from my usual brands of Dell or HP. But now I regret changing, have my windows 7 about 10 years now and except for the battery needs replacing still works great. Only reason I’m changing is because windows 7 is no longer compatible with most company systems including the new company I started my training with today. But since the weekend computer starts overheating and shutting down constantly after 7 months of purchase. I’m taking it to Geek Squad and praying they can find and fix issue as my job literally will be on the line and I risk losing my job if they cannot. Unfortunately I will now have to spend more money and get back my trusted brand of Dell or HP that have never let me down like this before.

We certainly understand your disappointment with the product and the inconvenience if you started experiencing overheating and random auto-shutdown issues.
Overheating is normal while the laptop is under heavy load like, WINDOWS Update installation and antivirus scan. This will also occur while sypware or malware are running continuously in the background. Please do a full system scan in order to make sure the system was not compromised by viruses or malware. When system resource utilization is high, this will generate more heat than normal and tends to cause auto-shutdown. It does decreases or normalizes once utilization goes down.
If the above were performed to no avail, please update the BIOS if the laptop is running with an older version. If the issues persisted after a BIOS update, please try to do a PC Reset. After a successful reset, please installed all featured or cumulative WINDOWS Update before running any applications.

Could've just been a lemon, ya never know. I don't want to bash ASUS for just this one machine. But if other's had issues too within a few days of usage then yeah we can collectively bash haha.
