I bought this for work/gaming @ $899 and really like it. The design is clean and visually pleasing. The system speed/performance is lightning quick across the board. I’ve played all my games at max settings with no problems including Sims 4, Doom Eternal, League of Legends, Valorant and MTG Arena. When I first started the laptop, the fan noise was incredibly loud but you can change to a silent mode in the Armory App that comes preinstalled. The display is okay. 144hz would have been nice, but it isn’t a deal breaker. It’s not really noticeable and doesn’t affect my gaming experience. Still worth the price imo. My only real complaint is the 8gb single channel memory. I went to Amazon and got a great deal on 16GB DDR4 3200 Dual Channel ram. Made a world of difference. Overall, I’d buy this again. Just the hardware and price is hard to match anywhere else, especially with what’s available due to Covid-19. Upgrade the ram for sure and you’ve got a powerful gaming laptop at a fraction of the cost.

Great Performance, but not so TUF

I bought the ASUS TUF A15 on sale, for $799. Which was an absolute steal considering the performance specs. For gaming and daily productivity, this laptop exceeded all of my expectations. (especially after easily upgrading RAM). It's fast, comfortable, great speakers. It does what a gaming laptop should. However, My only complaint is the build quality. Understandably, this is a "budget" gaming laptop. But in my own personal opinion, it is sub-par when compared to budget gaming laptops from Dell or Lenovo. There is a fair amount of flex to the whole laptop. I am very careful with my laptops so I was surprised to find that after removing the PC from my backpack's padded laptop compartment, that the lid had actually bent slightly, and the bezel had become unattached from one of the corners of the aluminum lid. The other issue also had to do with the lid. Due to the flex, when opening the laptop lid, the bezel unadhered from the screen panel in the bottom right corner. These aren't "end of the world" things, especially considering the price point, but it is definitely ironic considering the TUF branding, and" military-grade toughness" advertising.

I'm going to list the pros and cons of this laptop and alot of these suprised me, this has to be the best deal for a laptop, for those who need a laptop for college and and who play games that aren't a fps oriented game this laptop is for you Pros: - Ram is upgradable to 32GB SODIMM DDR4 but this laptop comes with 8gb - Comes with a adapter piece if you want to connect a 2.5 SATA hard drive or SATA SSD, by default you can put another m.2 (has to be the M.2 2280) - The graphics card is a 2060 mobile GPU and runs games on medium and high settings decently - You can remove the Sata hard drive enclosure and upgrade the battery from a 48kwh, to a 90kwh, you just need to do your research (This product in particular that best buy sells comes with a 48kwh. - The processor is a Ryzen 4800H, this is a fantastic processor and is great with power, my 48kwh battery allows me to play games for 3 to 4 hrs without charging it. - RGB Keyboard, in the picture it shows yellow but you can change it to any color you want plus it changes automatically to RGB when starting it - 500gb of a NVME M.2, this does not use sata technology, this uses PCI technology, the NVME M.2 runs about 1300 read/write Cons: This is a 60hz panel instead of the 144hz, this is not a big deal to me because I use it for college, and I play Ark Survival Evolved, and Terraria, for people who play FPS games may need to look for another version of this laptop which offers the 144hz screen. Besides everything above this a overall great laptop, Ram, Battery and Storage is upgradable, this is one Fast laptop. Currently modified my Laptop and I'm running 32gb Sodimm Ram 2666mhz 1TB SATA SSD 500gb NVME M.2

    Solid photoshop workstation

Despite it's pricepoint and trash tier screen, this laptop makes a great photoshop editing rig. The 4800h is absurd. Working with 42mp cRAW from my A7Rii is leaps and bounds over what I experienced on my previous laptop (2012 15" MBP, maxed out) even with only 8gb ram. Generating and applying luminosity masks through Lumenzia is almost instant, and auto aligning brackets If you're serious about editing, you already know that most laptop screens are not going to cut it for color work. The screen on this one is just that much worse - you *need* a second monitor. 48% NTSC is like trying to look at a painting through a migraine. There are a minor few quirks with this laptop. You can't adjust ram voltage through the bios or the ASUS app - it'll display how your system is throttling it, but there's just no option to tweak it. At least on mine, one of the screws used in the case wasn't properly machined. In and of itself, this means nothing - but it makes me wonder about QA in general. When I closed the lid and opened it the next morning, I couldn't get the unit to power back on out of sleep or hibernate without forcing it to shut down with the power button. A fan was rattling off and on for the next day, though it seemed to stop - I don't know if this was just an idiosyncrasy, the fan being on for too long, or what. Even so, no issues using it in 90f heat. Despite its quirks, it's an 8c/16t mobile workstation with a max of either 32g (official) or 64g (rumored on web) ram, a full RTX2060 (desktop version, not that max-q nonsense), and room for 3 internal drives all for under $1k. Hard to knock the capability of this laptop - and even harder to question the value.

Great Gaming Laptop and Minecraft Ray Tracing

This is my first non-work PC I’ve bought for gaming after nearly 2 decades of being a mac user and console gamer, and I love it so far. I was lucky enough to get it on sale for $799, which for the price this thing is incredible. I’m blown away by the RTX Minecraft ray tracing worlds this can do for example, and I honestly wasn’t expecting the mobile 2060 to be as good as it is, but then again my only real comparison is PS4 Pro and XboxOne X as I haven’t really been a PC gamer before. This laptop does seem to handle Rocket League much better than my Xbox One X, and the SSD load times are amazingly fast. Flight Simulator 2020 also works a lot better than I expected it to on this laptop, which was one of the main games I wanted a PC for. The only negatives are the fan/heat and screen. You do need a fan/lapdesk to actually play on your lap due to heat and poor cooling system. The screen itself looks great, but it is a lot dimmer than I’d like and of course limited to 60hz—-but considering the 144hz version was 50% more than what I paid for this one, I have zero real complaints for the price. Battery life isn’t the best, but you get an extra SSD/HDD slot for the trade, which I prefer. Upgradeability: Upgrading it was quite easy, although the plastic cover was a bit hard to get off, and you do need at least 16gb ram; having run it for a while on both 16gb and 32gb I do recommend 32gb though—-this made a very noticeable difference for example on “totally accurate battle simulator”. At 16gb the game would run kind of slow and choppy at times, but at 32gb this laptop runs it amazingly well with zero issues or lag. Adding the included 2.5” SSD adapter was a bit more annoying than I anticipated as the instructions aren’t the clearest, but I was able to figure it out after some frustration and got it working no problem as well with an added 1tb ssd. I love the ability to add three drives though, coming from being primarily a mac user to toying with something so upgradeable is a very nice change of pace. Overall I’d highly recommend this laptop if you find it on sale close to the $799 that I paid on a pre Black Friday sale, it’s an absolute steal at that price—-at $999 it is still worth considering given the specs and ease of upgrading, although at closer to the $999 range I’d probably want a better screen.

You really have to understand what you paying for this laptop. While there's downside like smaller battery (roughly 4 hours web browsing with music), 60hz screen instead 144hz and etc, the graphic card that came with it and the processor it's absobutely a beast. You will not able to get a laptop with Ryzen 7 with RTX 2060 under $1000 anywhere. Gaming performance it's top notch, I can easily max out any games graphic without affecting my FPS (above 60). Among all the gaming laptop I use, this laptop fans really kick in! When I say it kick in, no joke it's loud BUT IT DOESN'T GET HOT EVEN SUMMER while gaming!!!! Like many reviewer mentioned, additional ram definitely it's a must. I will definitely recommend to my friends if it ever get back in stock.

was the best deal on a laptop with a 2060 . had it for 2 weeks and havant had any problems. i did change the way the cpu kicked in . which i got the info from reddit laptop deals. apparently it runs a little hot if you dont do that. it wasnt hard to do. the Screen is only 60 hz which isnt optimal but I use it at home and im going to get a 144 hz monitor to plug it into. the trackpad is terrible. it works for the most part but still its really annoying how it wont read your touch sometimes . other than that I love this thing. gonna order 16 gb of ram for it and get a monitor. really I rather get a better screen than one that comes with a laptop anyway.

Picked this up October 22, 2020 at Denver West Best Buy. Researched laptops for several months as my 10 year old HP DV6 was beginning to exhibit screen flickering linked to a failure of the GPU. This laptop was my first choice due to specs and price; but, I kept researching to refine what I wanted as to CPU, GPU, RAM, display, etc. After several months, this came on sale for two days at $800, a cool $120 less than the next best price - plus it came with the RTX 2060 instead of the GTX 1650. Snapped it up. After two weeks of intensive use, here are my conclusions: 1. Although I am not a gamer, my son is and is very impressed with this machine. 2. The most common complaint I've seen is the display; many say it is too washed out, I beg to disagree. Its average brightness in various articles tests at 256 nits and FHD (full high definition). I'm not a nit-picker so I tested it out myself on various mediums. The first thing I did was to use Windows built-in screen calibration tool to set it up to my eyes. I am very pleased with the overall color in movies though on the darker ones like Batman I may adjust the brightness via the keyboard function keys. Browsing also is crisp with photos in FHD stunning. Apps display well, although if there is a lot of white, I personally turn down the brightness a little. This can also be taken care of in MS Office through the high contrast and themes menu for a more permanent solution. Be aware that if you choose a high contrast theme, it will prevent you from seeing font changes such as bold, color and highlighting in MS Word. The work around is to use "Alt+Left Shift+Print Screen" as a toggle in and out of your high contrast theme. 3. If you are looking at this product, you probably know that the CPU (AMD Ryzen 4800H) is about 52% faster than its I7 competitors. It certainly lives up to its hype and is listed at the top of the class on Pass Mark benchmarks. Likewise the RTX 2060 is loaded with 6 GB of vram. 4. I've received compliments on its style from people aged 16-62 and I am surprised at how light it feels even though its made to pass military grade standards for TUFness. 5. I will be adding another 8 GB of ram during the upcoming sales, but the current configuration works fine for me, even for my Photoshop Elements 13. 6. The backlit keyboard is fun and has several choices of patterns of blinking - but only one non-blinking color, red; however, all RGB colors can be dimmed or brightened. 7. I thought my old laptop was fast starting up after adding an SSD (about 22 seconds); but this opens in around 10 seconds or less!!! 8. Final thoughts: I would highly recommend this laptop. 9. I would recommend that if you are migrating programs and files from another laptop, to either have someone do it for you or buy a highly rated program to do it. Windows 10 is not the most "friendly" environment to navigate. I've probably spent 15 hours so far and some more to come.

I wish the screen could get brighter, and the battery life is short (unfortunately as expected) lasting between 2 and 4 hours depending on the task, and the fans can get quite loud. Otherwise it's fast, has cool built-in features, is fairly lightweight, the resolution is good, and overall it looks pretty cool. I also bought an extra 8gb of ram to double what the device came with, so it can handle games well.

Great laptop for gaming and productivity. Can run Warzone at over 100 FPS. Screen isn’t great, and it’s only 60hz, so you won’t enjoy those higher frames unless you hook up to an external monitor. Got it on sale for a great price, and if you plan on using a separate monitor, I highly recommend this laptop. Does run a bit hot, but not nearly as bad as I’d read before buying. If you don’t plan on using MSI afterburner, you’ll be perfectly fine.

PROS: - Amazing performance for the price - Beautiful design - Easy to add additional storage/RAM CONS: - The screen is not great - The trackpad has some issues that cause it to lag out and become unresponsive (seems to be a software issue, using the Windows drivers instead of ASUS seems to improve the situation) - The battery life isn't great but I knew that coming into it SUMMARY: Overall, for the price this is a great product. Save yourself the time and don't plan to use the trackpad. I assume most people purchasing this device will be using it for gaming and will have a dedicated mouse. If you want good FPS on a budget, this is the laptop for you. I play WoW: Shadowlands with 65 FPS solid on HIGH with ray-tracing enabled.

i bought this laptop when it was on sale for 900 bucks. amazing for the price after you add a 8gb stick ram. it maxes almost every game at 1080p. the panel is good for people who aren't particalury about there screen or have a monitor they could hook up to. i play mainly rpg's and watch video's so i high refresh rate screen really isnt worth the money for me.thermals are a bit high becuase the cpu is always turboing to its max frequency . but there is a fix on the internet for it that is relatively easy to perfom. it has some flaws the battery life if your watching youtube is about 2 and 30 minutes. while be ok is not great. also armoury crate is hit or miss as a piece of software. if i paid full price for this my review would probably be 4 stars but i got it on sale so that scews it more into the 5 range for me. its the best laptop ive had by far and more than exceeds my needs for a laptop. i don't use it everyday as i have a desktop aswell. but when i pull it out it never feels slow. if your not to picky this is amazing laptop.

For the price I paid (799 + tax) it's a extremely good value. Went ahead and bought a separate RAM upgrade to take the total up to 16GB and it's a powerful and capable machine. The screen is a bit disappointing but this is known as ASUS reserved their better 15" display for the G series. Battery life has been good even though this version has the smaller battery. Touchpad is average for scrolling and okay otherwise. Speed and performance in day-to-day work use is exceptional. Gaming performance is above average and may put a few laptops priced twice as much as I paid to shame. No heating issues. Fan does run loud during heavier gaming but cools very quickly once I am done with the game.

Can't beat this deal. I added an additional 1TB M.2 SSD, upgraded to 32GB of ram and even with those costs added this is still a screaming deal. I bought it on sale but even at full price you can't beat the CPU and GPU specs. It has a total of 3 hard drive bays. 2 M.2 SSD and one 2.5" bay. Ram is said to be 32GB max but you can order this with 64GB, so take that for what you will. Yea, the 60hz display isn't the best but that doesn't matter to me as most of the time I'm gaming I'm using my Oculus Quest 2, which is does great with. It does fine for traditional games, unless you're a competition gamer, in which case your budget should be at least twice when this rig costs anyway.

This is a great computer for the money. It has a a great deal of power and the 2060 is a relatively good card. The heat can get high, not sure many laptops at this price point don't. This is only when stressing the system. However, this is not sustained but just a spike. The screen is what most people might have a problem with but it gets the job done. Again considering the price tremendous performance for the price!

For $800 when it was on sale, I thought it was a great deal for a laptop. You can barely get the same specs out of a desktop build. This is only a 60hrz screen and you can’t upgrade it even if you wanted to. If anything, personally I think the $1200 version of this model is much more worth it. You get a 144hrz screen, plus the bigger battery and the extra storage and ram. You would spend that kind of money just to upgrade everything in the 60hrz version which is this laptop. Both are amazing quality but the $1200 one is way better.

You have one of the better CPUs in the Ryzen 7 4800h. You have a full RTX2060. All this under a 1000. Those don't come without a sacrifice though. The screen isn't for photo editing or competitive FPS games, but I use an LG QHD 144Hz Gsync Monitor anyways. Track pad is bad, but no worries, I have use a mouse and a mechanical keyboard. This is my main gaming rig, so to speak. This can run COD:MW Multiplayer on 1440p with high settings and a few tweeks like turning of anti-aliasing and ray tracing. I can get about 80-90FPS on high settings. On 1080p, depending on settings, you'll hover around 120fps, if not more. Oh yeah, let me add, this game makes the laptop hot, like 80 degrees or more Celsius. On my other laptop I sold that had a 1660Ti Max Q, it would go around 76-78 degrees Celcius. There is a way to slowdown or prevent turbo boosts, just google or check reddit. AC:Odyssey. With a few tweeks like turning clouds down and others on high settings, it can do 1440p and go between 40-50 fps. You really don't need that much fps for RPG type games anyways, especially if you want the visual appeal. Make sure to upgrade your ram to at least 16 gb and look for Ram that is 1.2v. I am currently using Kingston Hyperx 3200mhz 1.2v ddr4 Sodimm Ram at 32 GBs, probably overkill, but future proof. For under 1000 bucks, would I recommend this? Yes.

Despite reading multiple reviews and articles on this laptop's thermals and display. I still purchased this. I upgraded to 32GB of Ram and added a NVME and secondary SSD. The Ryzen processor has performed very well. For a "budget" laptop, it still packs a RTX card. Which for a mobile gaming device, is more than enough. If I want to hardcore game, I will use my gaming desktop.
