Dear ryan,
I'm sorry to hear that you are unsatisfied with the refresh rate and NTSC rating for this laptop's display. That is certainly not the kind of experience we want any of our customers to have. As you noted, this machine has a 60Hz refresh rate and 45% NTSC rating. Can you show me where we are advertising 144Hz for this submodel? I'd be happy to investigate that and adjust the listing if necessary. Please reach out to me at [email protected] and include case #N200758427 in your email for reference.
Thank you for choosing ASUS!

Great Gaming Laptop and Minecraft Ray Tracing

This is my first non-work PC I’ve bought for gaming after nearly 2 decades of being a mac user and console gamer, and I love it so far. I was lucky enough to get it on sale for $799, which for the price this thing is incredible. I’m blown away by the RTX Minecraft ray tracing worlds this can do for example, and I honestly wasn’t expecting the mobile 2060 to be as good as it is, but then again my only real comparison is PS4 Pro and XboxOne X as I haven’t really been a PC gamer before. This laptop does seem to handle Rocket League much better than my Xbox One X, and the SSD load times are amazingly fast. Flight Simulator 2020 also works a lot better than I expected it to on this laptop, which was one of the main games I wanted a PC for.
The only negatives are the fan/heat and screen. You do need a fan/lapdesk to actually play on your lap due to heat and poor cooling system. The screen itself looks great, but it is a lot dimmer than I’d like and of course limited to 60hz—-but considering the 144hz version was 50% more than what I paid for this one, I have zero real complaints for the price. Battery life isn’t the best, but you get an extra SSD/HDD slot for the trade, which I prefer.
Upgradeability: Upgrading it was quite easy, although the plastic cover was a bit hard to get off, and you do need at least 16gb ram; having run it for a while on both 16gb and 32gb I do recommend 32gb though—-this made a very noticeable difference for example on “totally accurate battle simulator”. At 16gb the game would run kind of slow and choppy at times, but at 32gb this laptop runs it amazingly well with zero issues or lag. Adding the included 2.5” SSD adapter was a bit more annoying than I anticipated as the instructions aren’t the clearest, but I was able to figure it out after some frustration and got it working no problem as well with an added 1tb ssd. I love the ability to add three drives though, coming from being primarily a mac user to toying with something so upgradeable is a very nice change of pace.
Overall I’d highly recommend this laptop if you find it on sale close to the $799 that I paid on a pre Black Friday sale, it’s an absolute steal at that price—-at $999 it is still worth considering given the specs and ease of upgrading, although at closer to the $999 range I’d probably want a better screen.

I received my laptop on July, 1. I have been having a blast with it. The speed is impressive. I love the video card and am not concerned about the display as I usually have it connected to an external display to take advantage of the video card. The price for the features is quiet fair. I did upgrade the ram with a pair of 8gb stick of Kingston Fury ram. make sure it is 1.2v and 3200mhz, not many fit the bill. I also added a 1tb WD BLACK SSD. I'm ok with the fan noise. It isn't as bad as people portrayed it. I wish it had the 144 vs 60mhz refresh rate display, but I'll live.
Bottom line: It is an affordable, very well built, solid performer. I'd definitely buy it again.

You really have to understand what you paying for this laptop. While there's downside like smaller battery (roughly 4 hours web browsing with music), 60hz screen instead 144hz and etc, the graphic card that came with it and the processor it's absobutely a beast. You will not able to get a laptop with Ryzen 7 with RTX 2060 under $1000 anywhere. Gaming performance it's top notch, I can easily max out any games graphic without affecting my FPS (above 60). Among all the gaming laptop I use, this laptop fans really kick in! When I say it kick in, no joke it's loud BUT IT DOESN'T GET HOT EVEN SUMMER while gaming!!!! Like many reviewer mentioned, additional ram definitely it's a must. I will definitely recommend to my friends if it ever get back in stock.

After about a weeks worth of research I bought this laptop over a month ago, and have been pretty thoroughly impressed. When I got this laptop it came with everything, even stickers for some reason. The GPU and CPU were both relatively new and could handle everything I wanted to run. The 8 GB of RAM was a bit of a downside for such an impressive laptop, so an upgrade is needed. My laptop now runs about 20 google tabs, youtube, minecraft, and zoom all at the same time with little effort. The fan rarely turns on, except when I play GTA V in which case it sounds like a jet turbine engine. The charger is absolutely massive, and is a hassle to carry around. There is no SD card slot but adapters are relatively cheap, so that was fine. The battery is alright. If my screen is bright and I'm running a few google tabs in addition to youtube in the background, (most of the time with zoom as well) the battery will last at least 5 hours with battery saver on. Overall, the graphics are great, obviously all regular tabs look fine, and GTA runs better on this laptop than I've seen on several PCs. The laptop is sturdy, the keys work fine, but the mousepad is untrustworthy and is starting to die after just over a month which is concerning. I use this computer several hours each day and I have had no major issues. Sometimes it does get slow though, in which case you should just check for updates. That said, I have turned off all unnecessary programs and background tasks. There are several hidden features of this laptop I am still finding, and they help a lot. Overall, a lot of my friends have just bought new laptops as well (several of which are gaming), and mine is the fastest and most reliable out of all of them. This includes HP, Omen, and ROG computers. Hopefully this will help, because I spent hours looking for a review like this and only found one.

I bought this laptop on sale for $800 and it was an absolute steal for the money. The main reason I bought it was for the RTX 2060 graphics card. I upgraded the RAM to 32GB about a month after I got it, though that's a bit overkill since the most I've seen a game demand was 14GB. I'd recommend doing the same with AMD-compatible memory. With the RAM upgraded it holds its own on a lot of the games I've played with it. If you're wanting something to do 1080p gaming, this is a great option. I've been able to run it with the settings turned up on 1440p hooked into a TV and the framerate stayed in the 50-60 range. The fans can get pretty loud, so I'd recommend getting a good headset. Also, the battery life isn't great. This is my first gaming PC, and I'm really happy I bought this instead of trying to get another console and a cheap laptop. It's a good option for a first gaming PC if you need something portable.

What an incredible laptop, and for the price, it’s a steal! I also got this during a sale so I paid a couple hundred under $1000.
I think the description is off a little. The one I received did not have the 90w battery, so that meant I had the additional HDD slot. With the money I saved I purchased 16gb RAM, a 1TB SSD which gave me a system that is better than the mid-level for less than buying the mid-level out right. Using my old HDD I know have 2.5gb of storage. 512 for OS and essential programs, 1TB for game storage and 1TB for file storage. What an incredible machine.
The graphics are so silky smooth with no jittering or skipping. After hours of playing Steam games it’s just a little warm, but that’s to be expected. The fans are a little loud, but that’s to be expected as well.
If you’re looking for a great system and aren’t sponsored to buy a high powered machine, get this laptop. You won’t regret it!

was the best deal on a laptop with a 2060 . had it for 2 weeks and havant had any problems. i did change the way the cpu kicked in . which i got the info from reddit laptop deals. apparently it runs a little hot if you dont do that. it wasnt hard to do. the Screen is only 60 hz which isnt optimal but I use it at home and im going to get a 144 hz monitor to plug it into. the trackpad is terrible. it works for the most part but still its really annoying how it wont read your touch sometimes . other than that I love this thing. gonna order 16 gb of ram for it and get a monitor. really I rather get a better screen than one that comes with a laptop anyway.

Picked this up October 22, 2020 at Denver West Best Buy. Researched laptops for several months as my 10 year old HP DV6 was beginning to exhibit screen flickering linked to a failure of the GPU.
This laptop was my first choice due to specs and price; but, I kept researching to refine what I wanted as to CPU, GPU, RAM, display, etc. After several months, this came on sale for two days at $800, a cool $120 less than the next best price - plus it came with the RTX 2060 instead of the GTX 1650. Snapped it up.
After two weeks of intensive use, here are my conclusions:
1. Although I am not a gamer, my son is and is very impressed with this machine.
2. The most common complaint I've seen is the display; many say it is too washed out, I beg to disagree. Its average brightness in various articles tests at 256 nits and FHD (full high definition). I'm not a nit-picker so I tested it out myself on various mediums. The first thing I did was to use Windows built-in screen calibration tool to set it up to my eyes.
I am very pleased with the overall color in movies though on the darker ones like Batman I may adjust the brightness via the keyboard function keys.
Browsing also is crisp with photos in FHD stunning. Apps display well, although if there is a lot of white, I personally turn down the brightness a little. This can also be taken care of in MS Office through the high contrast and themes menu for a more permanent solution. Be aware that if you choose a high contrast theme, it will prevent you from seeing font changes such as bold, color and highlighting in MS Word. The work around is to use "Alt+Left Shift+Print Screen" as a toggle in and out of your high contrast theme.
3. If you are looking at this product, you probably know that the CPU (AMD Ryzen 4800H) is about 52% faster than its I7 competitors. It certainly lives up to its hype and is listed at the top of the class on Pass Mark benchmarks. Likewise the RTX 2060 is loaded with 6 GB of vram.
4. I've received compliments on its style from people aged 16-62 and I am surprised at how light it feels even though its made to pass military grade standards for TUFness.
5. I will be adding another 8 GB of ram during the upcoming sales, but the current configuration works fine for me, even for my Photoshop Elements 13.
6. The backlit keyboard is fun and has several choices of patterns of blinking - but only one non-blinking color, red; however, all RGB colors can be dimmed or brightened.
7. I thought my old laptop was fast starting up after adding an SSD (about 22 seconds); but this opens in around 10 seconds or less!!!
8. Final thoughts: I would highly recommend this laptop.
9. I would recommend that if you are migrating programs and files from another laptop, to either have someone do it for you or buy a highly rated program to do it. Windows 10 is not the most "friendly" environment to navigate. I've probably spent 15 hours so far and some more to come.

This is a very good laptop but just be aware of what you are buying beforehand. There are several different models of this laptop. This particular one has less ram, screen with a lower refresh rate, smaller battery, good graphics card, super fast cpu, and at a very affordable price. If you can deal with these limitations then you are getting a killer laptop. I have this laptop, not this particular model listed but the tide a15, and have been very satisfied with my purchase. It can play all the new games on high settings and is a really fast computer.

I wish the screen could get brighter, and the battery life is short (unfortunately as expected) lasting between 2 and 4 hours depending on the task, and the fans can get quite loud. Otherwise it's fast, has cool built-in features, is fairly lightweight, the resolution is good, and overall it looks pretty cool. I also bought an extra 8gb of ram to double what the device came with, so it can handle games well.

Great laptop for gaming and productivity. Can run Warzone at over 100 FPS. Screen isn’t great, and it’s only 60hz, so you won’t enjoy those higher frames unless you hook up to an external monitor.
Got it on sale for a great price, and if you plan on using a separate monitor, I highly recommend this laptop. Does run a bit hot, but not nearly as bad as I’d read before buying. If you don’t plan on using MSI afterburner, you’ll be perfectly fine.

PROS:
- Amazing performance for the price
- Beautiful design
- Easy to add additional storage/RAM
CONS:
- The screen is not great
- The trackpad has some issues that cause it to lag out and become unresponsive (seems to be a software issue, using the Windows drivers instead of ASUS seems to improve the situation)
- The battery life isn't great but I knew that coming into it
SUMMARY:
Overall, for the price this is a great product. Save yourself the time and don't plan to use the trackpad. I assume most people purchasing this device will be using it for gaming and will have a dedicated mouse. If you want good FPS on a budget, this is the laptop for you. I play WoW: Shadowlands with 65 FPS solid on HIGH with ray-tracing enabled.

There’s a lot of mixed online reviews about this laptop but actually buying and using it will prove that most of the negative reviews are just nitpicking on what is among the best bang-for-buck laptops on the market. Setup is easy and all the updates are readily available.
I must admit, I am not a power user when it comes to games (mostly used for racing simulators, Batman Arkham series, and my kids’ games - which includes fall guy these days) all graphics are smooth without any glitches or crashes. Connection points to peripherals are sufficient for this price point with 3 USB type-A ports and a single USB type-C port. There is also the obligatory HDMI port for an external display.
Temps seem to be higher than expected especially during the summer here in California but it’s nothing a $30 cooling pad from Best Buy can’t solve. In fact, before the cooling pad, I just used a notebook to elevate the screen side of the base and even that seemed to help.
The RGB keyboard is bright and cycles through different colors which complements the razer keyboard and mouse set I have. However that’s not something that makes or breaks a laptop in my opinion.
Definitely worth the money and I can’t seem to understand why you would spend thousands on a gaming laptop if you can get this for under a grand

i bought this laptop when it was on sale for 900 bucks. amazing for the price after you add a 8gb stick ram. it maxes almost every game at 1080p. the panel is good for people who aren't particalury about there screen or have a monitor they could hook up to. i play mainly rpg's and watch video's so i high refresh rate screen really isnt worth the money for me.thermals are a bit high becuase the cpu is always turboing to its max frequency . but there is a fix on the internet for it that is relatively easy to perfom. it has some flaws the battery life if your watching youtube is about 2 and 30 minutes. while be ok is not great. also armoury crate is hit or miss as a piece of software. if i paid full price for this my review would probably be 4 stars but i got it on sale so that scews it more into the 5 range for me. its the best laptop ive had by far and more than exceeds my needs for a laptop. i don't use it everyday as i have a desktop aswell. but when i pull it out it never feels slow. if your not to picky this is amazing laptop.

Fast speeds. Been using it about a week now with no issues. Games all run smooth with full graphics. I haven't found one yet that doesn't run but I haven't played every new games out there. Getting a max of 150 fps which some people were saying they aren't getting. Min in most games is 80. Very zippy opening and closing the lid it is instantly back to where I left off. The light up key board is a plus, it had multiple USB ports for gaming or connecting to your phone, it has a USB-C port which is great for using DEX mode on my Samsung phone. Connecting to TV via HDMI is easy and Steam's big picture mode makes all of my gaming easy. The body is metal and not plastic which is a very nice touch. The unit is good looking and ergonomic.
Very happy with the purchase. I got my money's worth on this one.

Overall this laptop is built well and easy to upgrade. I removed the installed 8GB of RAM and added 2x16GB sticks to make it 32GB without a problem. There is room to upgrade the battery and you probably should because this is the worst thing about the laptop. The battery lasts about 3 hours during casual use such as browsing and watching videos. If you are gaming it will be an hour or less. You can also add a second SSD for more storage when you run out. The display is the second worst thing about this laptop. It only has a 60HZ refresh rate and isn't the most color accurate, but gets the job done. I usually hook up to my monitors when I am home and/or gaming so it's not an issue for me. It also seems straightforward to upgrade the display if you really wanted to. One of the best processors and a 2060 for $800 is a steal so I definitely recommend to beginner gamers.

all games i played have no issue with frame drop nor lagging.

I've only have the A15 506FX gaming laptop for a few weeks, and I honestly like it a lot. The 4800H is a fantastic processor that is very competent with gaming and workloads in the various programs I need it to handle (Mathcad, CAD, Autodesk, ect). The RTX2060 isn't the most powerful GPU that nVidia has, but it works well for the games I play (Jedi Outcast, GTAV, PSO2, ect) I have stable frame rates and handling things in 1080p is a fairly easy task for the card. That being said I have no idea why ASUS would NOT put 16gb of ram in this laptop to begin with, I upgraded mine with some DDR4 I had laying around so it didn't cause any issues for me, but a single stick of DDR4 will run someone at least $40 for the 3200mhz that the laptop comes with from ASUS (Though you could go for a slower speed for less but I want to run my ram at 3200mhz). Another issue that some might take into consideration is storage, this isn't the biggest deal but I play a lot of games and I can fill 512gb without Windows on it pretty fast, so adding in a SATA III SSD was a nice upgrade but I kinda wish the 1tb model was available, 512gb works well enough but I like space. On the plus side this is a fairly easy laptop to upgrade, remove the screws on the bottom, use a guitar pick to open it up, and ASUS even gives you the connector for the Sata III SSD with this one and a tray. Sound quality from the built in speakers is nice, I don't really expect much from built in speakers in a laptop, but these sounds good enough if I am too lazy to connect a headset. RGB is cool, useless to me but cool none the less. Metal plate on the back of the screen feels premium, and the plastics on the body aren't as bad as people have told me, I type heavy and I haven't noticed any flex with the keyboard but maybe over time I will see it *shrugs*.
Now for my biggest issues with this laptop, first is nit picky, but the display was advertised as 144hz when I bought this, it is actually 60hz, that was removed, I don't really care the picture on it is fine but essentially I feel like ASUS gave me the keys to a v8 sports car and disabled 4 of the cylinders, but I usually plug it into one of my spare monitors when I am home and using it and it works fine. Another nitpick is I wish that ASUS would have put some type of shutter on the webcam or just not put it on there at all, no one wants to see my ugly mug while I am gaming, especially me so yeah just a small would of been nice to have there. The biggest issue I have with this laptop is the thermals, for the life of me I wish this laptop was a little thicker so maybe it could support larger heatpipes, or something cause under load it can get toasty and bless you if you have it on your lap underload cause you are going to sweat and get a little hot. The fan set up is doing it's best and sounds like a jet engine when under load which can pull you out of your gaming experience, or annoy you if noise gets to you while you work. Also there is some weirdness with the trackpad when I use it but I'm a mouse kinda guy.
Overall I think this laptop is pretty great, I mostly have it for school work and entertaining me when I get the chance to travel or if I don't want to venture out of my bedroom to use one of my desktops. If anything a increase in RAM is the only thing I say this laptop needs (Some games require a minimum of 8gb, 16gb to me is usually just enough) but spec wise everything else is great. My only issue is that it gets hot under load, but to be honest most gaming/work laptops I have used do this, but not to this point. If your budget is higher, look into the ROG, MSI, or heck even the Razer ones as much as I don't care for them they are still a pretty good product. But if 900-1000 is your limit, it's hard to find much better laptops for the price of this specific A15, it gets what I need done and I would buy it again if I were in this market again.
