Asus Touchpad terrible, BestBuy no price match

However, the Precision TouchPad is abysmal. I returned my first purchase as I thought it might be the hardware. TouchPad very erratic. Scrolls, won't scroll. Move the mouse across the screen, it stops, almost like you hit the edge. Move the mouse across the screen and it stutters. No single finger scroll. Uninstall driver per Asus, reset device per Asus, does not help. Answer? It was a BestBuy batch custom order, return it to them. Returned and received new FA506IV, does the same thing. This erratic behavior was out of the box. Same thing as above, reinstall driver, reset device no go. For test, fresh install with Win102004 version, mouse does same thing. To put salt on the wound, the price at BestBuy online went down to $899. Regardless of timing on purchase, return, reorder new, receive new - BestBuy would not honor the price match (from their own website).

Poor screen kneecaps good system

I was willing to bump my budget up for the new Ryzen 7, 2060 combo and could use it with a 144hz screen. Now I have to return it as the 2060 is of no real value compared to a 1660ti system for $100-200 cheaper due to the slow screen. Very disappointing bestbuy to acknowledge the error but say return is only recourse.

They have always impressed me with their quality and gaming capabilities. The TUF series (which can be found in laptops, mobos, gpu and more) is their term for: outstanding reliability and performance. You may not get all the bells and whistles of ROG Strix models, but it's very close! I picked up the laptop to be a portable gaming beast and it has not let me down so far. The Ryzen 7 laptop processor is a killer with 8 cores and 16 threads. You can use this for gaming or video applications with ease. Included with this model is a very solid choice in GPU's: the RTX 2060 mobile edition. It can give you great framerates and gaming teeth. It's best to look at mobile edition gpu's like so: a 2060 is like a desktop 1660. They are smartly cut back in some regards to save on power and heat. Anyway, it does the job. I play Destiny 2 a lot and I have no issues. I would recommend more RAM from the get go. It only has one stick of 3200 ram in it at 8gb. You really need two sticks of ram for a total of 16gb. Two reasons for this: a) the processor is dual channel and will benefit in the speed department with two sticks and b) modern games demand more ram. *Sidenote: the 6gb of VRAM on the 2060 is plenty, just don't expect a lot of ray tracing. Another positive is that this laptop is very expandable. You can add the extra ram, an extra SSD hard drive and a NVME hard drive too. Pretty amazing. Another option is you can extend the battery life by placing a second battery in the SSD spot but that's not as easily found. Only negative may be the 60hz screen. It is not the fastest and limits your framerates in that regard BUT it's quite easy to add a 144hz external monitor later on if you want. The 2060 can handle it. Good luck on your search!

I’m not a gamer, just wanted something fast. Was only using it for Cricut design and Inkscape. The mouse was laggy half the time. Super unimpressed. Returned it and got an HP.

A similarly spec'd desktop with all the cheapest parts available on pcpartpicker would cost $950 for a tower with a 3700X, RTX2060, and 8GB RAM. Add a 1080p monitor, mouse, and RGB keyboard and you're looking at well over $1200 total. What Asus has done with this computer is nothing short of amazing in my opinion. This is the first time in history that you can buy a laptop that's equally as powerful as a similar fully fledged desktop computer, but cheaper. Incredible. This laptop is not perfect by any means. The screen is dim and the colors are not accurate, the trackpad sucks, and the cooling system is choked for airflow and causes peak temps in the 80s-90s at times. But these are all extremely minor details in comparison to what you're getting: an EXTREMELY powerful PC with desktop-level performance in a very small portable form factor, for less money.
