Works fine and has much for price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wish it came with windows 7 which is easy to use. Windows 8 is a terror which makes you blame things on the computer rather than the operating system. Since all my other computers have been using Windows 7 and earlier for over 30 years, the new 8 made it hard to use this lap top. This is not the machine's fault, I know. It would be nice also if it played blu-rays.

Great laptop for average use
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: Inexpensive, light-weight, snappy performance with low to medium multitasking, streams 1080p video to TV flawlessly (WinKey+P > 'Second screen only'), easily setup and running within 30 minutes, performs much better after adjusting power options to performance, very stable after extended uptime, boots/wakes up quickly, DVD drive Cons: Cannot handle heavy multitasking. Bad quality CAM. Both known before purchase. Power connection is a bit too snug. Other thoughts: Would highly recommend this for average users and students. Does not include a licensed copy of Microsoft Office, only a trial. For a $250~ laptop this isn't a concern.

can't beat this for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really enjoy using this laptop to surf, do taxes, and watch movies; I just wish I spent a little more to get a touch screen model. The touch pad is awful, but its pretty fast in general, is quiet, and can run a lot of windows without slowing down.

Very pleased
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My product came faster then expected. It is exactly as described and more. I love my new laptop, it does everything I need it to do. The only reason I did not give it five stars is because I am still trying to figure out the audio system and can be a little tricky to find certain features. Other then that it is a great laptop and I would definitely recommend to any student looking for a laptop to get them through school.

Super bargain!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this laptop to put in the kitchen (recipes, email, internet) and it is perfect. If you are looking for a fancy high performance laptop ... this isn't what you want. The display is beautiful, the unit is VERY light and it runs VERY cool. The lightweight plastic case is textured which gives it a much nicer overall appearance. The keyboard is a nice size but the touchpad is very large which pushes the keyboard away from the user ... not the most ergonomic configuration. Having the 10key included is a huge plus. The throw on the keys is a bit shallow for an old timer like me but the touch is fine and it does give a little "feedback" to the fingers (if you aren't a typist it won't make sense). The fact that this unit at this price includes an optical drive is utterly amazing when compared with what is on the market. Overall, I am thrilled with this purchase and would buy another without hesitation. Durability will have to be evaluated over a longer period of time than I have had the unit thus far.

Great Laptop for the money

Laptop works fine.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works well, yet disappointing that it comes with Windows 8.1. This version of Windows does not come with a program that allow users to play DVDs. It took me a dozen phone calls to MS to realize the makers of the equipment do not care at all for their customer. I had to buy 3 apps that did not work. Finally I went to the store and was told my 15 day grace period to return the product was over. Luckily, one of the employees wanted to help me and let me know of a free software that allowed me to play the DVDs. Thanks to this great employee I now can use my computer, yet very disappointing that Best Buy sells equipment with flaws and do not disclose it to customers.

excellent low budget school computer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an excellent low end comp. I use it for school and some basic gaming and it has handled everything i have thrown at it, (which isn't necessarily a lot). Window 8 takes some getting used to, but its not as bad as you might think. The dvd drive is pretty noisy when first starting a dvd. Overall a great computer with a great price and quality.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Can't go wrong for this price. Works just great browsing, email, etc. I paid $197.00. Has windows 8.1 which is very snappy. I uninstall all the bloatware and it runs pretty good.

Great laptop for the money
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got it for $198. Big screen, full keyboard, great speakers, file transfer to hard drive 3x as fast as my old acer. Laptop is very light. Fast computer. Movies play great streaming from Crackle. DVD video is great also. . Touchpad is great. Could use a 3rd USB port. Can't read keys on keyboard. Hated Window 8.0 but Windows 8.1 is great

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had the Asus 15.6" laptop for over a month. I like it a lot, still getting used to Windows 8.1 though. Works very good so far. I paid only $229.99 so very good price.

Would look further before buying
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My husband bought this to take out of town when we're traveling. If I'd known it had Windows 8 I would never have purchased it. The difference between 7 and 8 is like trying to learn a new language, and I don't mean an easy language but more like Chinese or Russian. Okay, so that's an 'operator' problem. The unit itself runs slowly but other than that I have nothing else to compare it to other than our PC as this is our 1st laptop. Also, the touch pad is more like a 'push it hard' pad. I'll use a mouse from now on.
