Great computer for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I decided on this due to price and features. I got it home and setup was a breeze. I was up and running in only a few minutes. The color on the screen is excellent. The sound from the speakers is fine. I'm not a fan of change so learning the windows 8 configuration is challenging. That being said I was pleasantly surprised. I would buy another. Oh yea I paid 229. for this and today i see it listed for 197. wow go get it.

Value laptop for internet surfing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted something for casual use, mostly web browsing. You get a 500GB Hard Drive, DVD Drive and 4GBs of RAM. This RAM is not expandable but 4GBs is enough for a lot of things. It will be great for email, surfing the internet and running various programs. I was pleasantly surprised that it played 720p and 1080p videos on Youtube very well. Looking at the bottom of the laptop there are no compartments to get access to the hard drive or ram, nor is there a detachable battery, it's all enclosed. The wireless connected fine and no issues with disconnecting. Now the bad about this laptop is that the touchpad keys to click or right-click are very hard to push. The biggest issue is the lack of USB's. Only got 2 USB ports (1 - 2.0 USB, 1 - 3.0 USB) on the left and I like to keep my wireless mouse plugged in at all times.

Great basic use computer for a great price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am overall very happy the speed of the computer, the picture is amazing but the only thing I do not like is there is no way to know if the caps lock is on there is no light to indicate whether it is on or off. Also and this is an issue with my desk top as well the numbers lock turns on whenever the computer reboots. Again no light to indicate this, minor irritation but in this day of specific passwords definitely slows you down . Otherwise a very good computer for the price.

Great Performance for Low Price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is probably the 40th PC I've ever owned, so I'm over it in terms of the fancy chassis, over hyped CPU speeds and features. For $197, you get a fast running machine suitable for Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Email, Web surfing, and watching movies either Netflix or otherwise. Works great. The chassis is somewhat of a beast in all black, uninspiring plastic. Typing on the keyboard will leave you underwhelmed when you watch your fingers press the keys and the entire top of the keyboard deflects (presses down) with each keystroke. Gives you the feeling it's cheap, but yes, it is in fact a low cost notebook PC. It won't win any beauty contests but for $197 and the Intel Dual Core 2.16GHz, 4GB RAM, and 500GB HDD (it's a Hitachi if anyone is particular), you get a decent performing machine.

Surprisingly Good
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed a "beater" laptop that I didn't have to worry about. I have avoided Windows 8 for some time, but this laptop's price and features lured me in. The machine is quick. Maybe Windows 8.1 has something to do with it. A no frills machine that can do what the average user needs. Not cheaply made either, just not up to the cosmetic quality of a typical ASUS. So far I'm happy!

Great entry-level laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Decent for the money. Disappointed in lack of USB ports. One for ReadyBoost (because of limited, and fixed, RAM amount), One for wireless keyboard + mouse, leaves none free for external HDD. Screen quality could be better, especially viewing angles. Could be a privacy benefit there, though, since you have to be looking right at the screen to see it. Disappointed that the battery is non-removable (by the end-user). When battery wears out after 3-5 years, do you just throw away the laptop? Price is excellent, given the above limitations.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I loved this laptop so much ...with an affordable price it a go - getter. If anyone is thinking about buying a laptop for any purpose I would recommend this. The processor is very fast in comparison to other laptops. I had previously bought an hp but ended up returning that product and bought this laptop.

needed a cheap laptop for a class im taking
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For $229, this is a heck of a bargain. when i first powered it on, i was a little worried about the slowness I experience during the setup phase of the laptop, but once it was all done, the laptop became quite speedy. Granted, i haven't tried playing any games on it, but for what I'm using it for it will be perfect. I recommend this for any non-gamer that needs a computer for work/school. At $229. it's a no brainer, get it now!

Best laptop you'll get for this price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For a while, I was looking for a laptop. Something cheap, but also good. I couldn't find anything for a good price, so I started looking at chromebooks. I stayed searching on amazon, and I couldn't find anything good and cheap. I then went to Best Buy to look for a good laptop. I stumbled upon this one. This was perfect, and had generally everything I wanted, but I waited a week to buy it. In that week, I saw that the price went down $20, from $250 to $230. I then bought it immediately. I saw that some of the reviews said that the plastic feels cheap. I don't feel it, honestly. Another great thing is that I can play games like Minecraft on pretty decent settings. I honestly never expected to get a good system for this price. The only downside is that there is a lot of preinstalled stuff, but that's easily deletable within the first day of owning the laptop.

It's pretty decent
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this laptop for about a week now and it works great. Of course since it is only an Intel Celeron processor it is a bit slow, but for $229 it's a good deal for a laptop with Windows 8.1. My only gripe, which was to be kinda expected, is that it is slow and laggy on websites. But my purpose for buying this laptop was to merely browse the web, type a few documents for my classes. At this time my money is limit and can only spend so much, but for $229 this is a great laptop. Pros: can load 720p videos on YouTube just fine, plays 1080p local files on my external hard drive perfectly with no lag Cons: lags when on sites like YouTube, Tumblr, basically anything that requires a heavy amount of flash, has many pictures, gifs (to be expected), loads 1080p videos on YouTube but its quite laggy

Great for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought for my son (high school) after reading reviews, very happy with it. Fast, big screen good amount of memory. They keyboard buttons takes some getting used to if your used to a tower PC, and the mouse pad feels a little flimsy but very minor issues. What prevented me from giving it 5 stars was the fact that every fingerprint shows up and doesn't wipe off on the outside and inside as well making it look like it's been handled by greasy fingers, cosmetic I know but I can't stand fingerprints! Especially those that can't get wiped off due to raised pattern on the plastic casing.

Great Student Laptop!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is amazing. It is perfect for me as a student and as someone who likes to play games. It has a lot of space and it is so smooth. My only issues are the lack of an indicator for Caps Lock and Num Lock and also the fact that this is a computer with windows 8.

For the money, you can't beat this laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Since I'm reviewing a sub $200 laptop, I'm going to take that into account. That being said, for the price this laptop has impressed me in every way. I will give Windows 8 credit when it comes to running on low powered machines. It's smooth and handles memory management very well, paired with this laptop and you get a very good machine for everyday tasks, surfing the web, checking email, etc. Is it a gaming computer, oh no, but it wasn't made to be. Does it have the longest battery life, nope, but again it's just a cheap laptop that would be great for your grandparents. The worst part about this computer, along with all other Windows 8 computers, is the first boot. Expect about 2 hours to set everything up and download and install all the updates, maybe longer if you have a slow internet connection. This is not a knock on the computer, I've set up about 15 different Windows 8 machines, and they all take this long. All-in-all I consider it money well spent, and would recommend this computer to anyone that just needs a basic machine.

Great Value, Great Price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking for a new laptop for personal use and occasional work use. I didn't want to spend over $300 since a computers value decreases so rapidly. This Asus computer met all of my needs. Its a very economical laptop but also has great features. I'm very happy with my decision to purchase this laptop.
